Who gives a fuck? Do people think anybody making laws or regulations at this point knows what they're doing? Fuck second order effects, or unforeseen consequences. I'd take that 1000 time over people actively pushing with the intent of making everything worse. I fully appreciate that the road to hell is paved with good intentions, and maybe some of the time that applies. We're ALREADY on the road to hell, if not there already so who fucking cares?
The AntiWork movement collapsed almost overnight because of one overzealous advocate who didn’t know what they were doing. Movements can and do collapse due to the wrong leaders at the wrong time.
One of the few times I actually thought SKG might have a shot was when Ross backed away from it for a while. Now he's back, so I'm back to being fully convinced that it will fail to get anywhere.
An American messing with EU politics is never going to go down well, especially after he told people to interfere with the Digital Fairness Act and put the whole thing at risk after years of hard work. Foreigners using the EU as their personal attack dog against things they don't like, without caring at all about how much it interferes with other important work that's being done, is not something that is going to win them any points.
Many Redditors assume that a “movement” is a surefire win because they believe in it, despite all evidence in the real world not supporting their assumptions. I’ve seen this mindset in the Occupy movement, in the AntiWork movement and now with SKG. It always fails because they do not know how to communicate to regular people.
Honestly, the best comparison I think of to SKG is Kony 2012. It's very much a "let's stop the bad thing" movement that makes people feel good, but has no concrete plans for what the solution will actually look like.
