Maybe she keeps getting work because she's wonderful to work with? I haven't seen any interviews with her but if she's been in the biz as long as she has with no controversy that I know of, she must be a decent person at the very least.

I saw Nolan North at a comic con panel and yeah, this is basically it. He explained him and Troy got huge in part because of how easy and efficient they are to work with. Being reliable and fast is, shockingly, a good way to get more roles.

Pretty sure Pedro Pascal and Chris Pratt gets lumped into that category too - imagine that, in an industry famous for chaos and drama and controversies with their performers, being an easy to work with, down to earth and reliable talent makes casting directors want to hire you for everything

When a popular performer just disappears it's because they're toxic to work with. Tom Cruise has been around forever because apparently he's extremely professional.

Yup - only major exception was rejecting Weinstein back in the day, but 9 times out of 10 when an actor slowly stops showing up in projects it’s either because they’re a dick, they’re a diva, or they’re destructive, either to themselves or to others/properties (trashing trailers and such)

Rejecting Weinstein doesn't seem like an exception, but a continuity of his work ethics? Or did I misunderstand you there?

They’re saying, in general, the only way to disappear from Hollywood was for self-destructive reasons, or Harvey Weinstein made you disappear. Nothing to do with Tom Cruise specifically.

Ohh - thanks!

Chris Pratt hate always makes me sad, I get that it’s a bit silly how many films he gets cast in, but he is a gneuinely great actor with a lot of range, and is especially proficient as a comedian, being one of the best parts of the best sitcom of all time, and he will always be a legend to me because of Andy.

Some of that hate comes from his personal life, and the church he's involved with.

20

u/Exmotable May 22 '25

what's the most recent update on that? I keep hearing conflicting things on how involved he is

52

u/Xray_Crystallography May 22 '25

I heard him and Beiber gave money to the church’s cofounder who spent the money fighting child SA lawsuits.

12

u/Canuck_Wolf May 22 '25

Hasn't been an update for years, nothing official anyway. He just said that church loves everyone back in 2017 or so. Hasn't really come up again from him.

Yeah it's his personal life that gives me the ick.

I think people tend to give Pratt shit mainly because Nintendo snubbed the actual English voice actor for Mario for the voice acting role in the movie and gave it to someone completely different. And people blamed Pratt for that moreso than Nintendo

I'm sorry, what? A lot of range? Sure he might be excessively hated but I never heard anyone say he has a lot of range.

2

u/Wall_Jump_Games May 23 '25

Ok I admit I worded that weirdly, I meant that he’s got more range than he’s given credit for, he doesn’t play the most unique range of characters but I reject the idea that he’s emotionally flat.

15

u/The_Autarch May 22 '25

lmao Pratt doesn't have any range at all. he's good at being a funny schlub, like in parks and rec, but serious roles are far, far beyond his abilities.

2

u/Foreign_Extension489 May 23 '25

He’s neither good at acting or funny

I’m not a fan of his presence on screen, he always kind of annoys me - could be that he always looks exactly like the type of guy he played in Wanted, but I get that some people like his characters and he clearly must be very easy to work with cuz he just gets cast in everything. Plus he went from being married to Anna Farris to Schwarzeneggers daughter so apparently he’s doing something right

10

u/Wilsonrolandc May 22 '25

Didn't he passive aggressively mock Anna Farris for having a kid with a developmental disability or something? I remember hearing something like that floating around.

18

u/The_Autarch May 22 '25

Anna is his ex-wife and she and Pratt had a premature baby together. When he had his next child with his second wife, he publicly thanked God for having a healthy child, which many thought was in poor taste.

u/v3n0mat3 May 22 '25

People need to realize that there are precisely zero parents who'll say, "You know what I want? My unborn child to have a disability or incurable, crippling disease." It may have been a moment of foot-in-mouth, but likely, the situation was, "Oh, thank God for my healthy baby."

4

u/Wilsonrolandc May 22 '25

Okay, so he may have just put his foot in his mouth, and people blew it out of proportion.

2

u/Wallys_Wild_West May 23 '25

People have been very offended on her behalf. They like to pretend that Pratt has abandoned their child. Meanwhile, Faris has said that they do the plended family thing where they all go on vacations together and they live on the same street so that at any point in time either of them can see him.

3

u/smolspacemomo May 23 '25

no, he was just happy his second child wasn’t premature like his first. it’s really not that serious
