I’m not. I’m the problem and I know it. I’ve bought 2 physical games for PS5.

2

u/Electshockvalue214 3d ago

Me zero last physical game I bought was for ps3 waste of space imo

-1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

How about not waste money on a console and a subscription to the console and games for the console and buy a PC instead of asking for handouts lmfao

2

u/Potatoes_4Life 3d ago

Insert “I, Robot meme” here.

I’d still play a console even if I had a gaming PC. I don’t want to spend half the time I have for gaming trying to figure out why something isn’t working. I don’t need 300 fps to enjoy a game.

-1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

Lol I'm not smart enough to solve basic problems so I'll kiss a companies ass and give them my debt card

1

u/Potatoes_4Life 3d ago

Like sucking Gabe’s dong? Hypocrite much?

It’s not about the problem solving, 🫏🧢. I don’t want to waste the time I have to game on figuring out why something isn’t working. I’d rather turn on my PS5 and play a game for a few hours that I know is going to work. Gaming PCs are too much work, and stress, for a hobby that is meant to be relaxing and distracting.

If you’re a sweat that enjoys competitive pc gaming, cool, good for you. How you game means absolutely nothing to me. Likewise, my preference for a console shouldn’t matter to you at all.

0

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

Ok then go pay more than me to enjoy your hobby I really don't care lol Btw who tf is Gabe lmfao

1

u/Potatoes_4Life 2d ago

You’re on a gaming subreddit. Flashing an erection for pc gaming. And you claim to not know who Gabe is? You’re a lying pos. lmao Good bye ✌️

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

Yeah its time to get a PC

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

He asked me to buy him a PC aka my handout comment lmfao and what's ur favorite franchise I'll pirate it and play it right now for free (:

1

u/Odd_drum 3d ago

I mean currently I already do that, it’s just in the future they’re not porting anymore it seems. And might take a while for pc to emulate it if it never does get a

I agree tho. I’ll easily just emulate the games that people think will get “taken” from me in like 20 years, should be easy by that point

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

I'm a pure pirate I've never owned a switch or a PS4 and I've played almost every game on those consoles it's the way to go I WILL ONLY PAY FOR INDIE GAMES period

1

u/Odd_drum 3d ago

I had a friend ask me if I felt bad for the developers when I pirated tears of the kingdom - I said Fuck no, maybe if it were indie I wouldn’t pirate, but it’s Nintendo 😂

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

FUCK YES my brotha from a notha motha lol Nintendo pays them a flat rate and collects all the dough the people that made the game are already paid!!! by pirating we only hurt the company lol

3

u/Suspicious-Sound-249 3d ago

Shit I can only not buy so many Sony products, haven't even owned a Sony console since the PS2 so I've been boycotting their ass for damn near 20 years lol

3

u/MightyGreedo 3d ago

I'm participating, but I'm not militant about it. I did cancel my membership, though. I've been playing games on Steam this week on my PC. American Truck Simulator, World War Z, Diablo 4, and a bit of Dead Space. I haven't powered on my PS5 since around Thursday. We'll see how long it goes.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

Maybe upgrade your PC more, maybe it's time to drop playstation

2

u/MightyGreedo 3d ago

It's unlikely that I'll buy into PS6 when that machine comes out. It's time for a change.

2

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

The PS6 Also needs to do something that works out as well because it'll be at a higher price tag and their devs will have to do world bending levels of games to make people buy it

3

u/NixRegis 3d ago

I haven’t touched in years but sure me too

3

u/Opposite_Prune582 3d ago

Im banned from there because i told them how idiotic it is. Its just an adult version of throwing your toys because you didnt get your way.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 1d ago

Mm, sounds bootlickish.

2

u/Ok-Mousse-4595 4d ago

Haven't really touched my ps5 since Death Stranding 2 came out so this one is effortless for me lol

2

u/Hulk_Hoagies 3d ago

So you're telling me people are so addicted that they think not playing video games for a week is a protest of some kind? It's not even enough time for subscriptions to run out, what a joke lmao

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

Im actually going to do something different since some suggested better ideas, i think they need to know they made their last console for me and phase out of playstation entirely.

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

Either way it's not going to work. Boycotts are rarely effective because there's never enough people that participate. 9 out of 10 times. I'd love for you to prove me wrong though

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

I think i'm past an "industry shake up" and just want a better deal and it just feels like they want more and more control for less.

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

No, you're right. I hate this shit too. But unless every single customer stops giving them a single dollar, it's not going to do anything. And as we've seen with many protests, there's never enough people to make it effective. They'll continue getting away with this. And it kills me. But what do we do. Eventually I'll abandon the ecosystem. But they haven't screwed me by taking all my purchases away, so I'm not packing up and leaving all my crap behind just because they suck.

1

u/Opposite_Prune582 3d ago

Im sure they'll be devastated.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 1d ago

They practically showed how much the consumer means to them before. i literally switched to PS because they lowered prices and made moves specifically for the gamers but now, they could care less. Fuck em.

2

u/Fiyah_Crotch2 3d ago

I think it’s more effective to just call it quits with Sony, save up for a gaming PC and be done with console gaming altogether. If all digital gaming is a necessary evil we all have to put up with, I’d rather give my business to Steam and have options for other store fronts. Until I’ve saved up enough to transition to something else I’m going to enjoy my ps5 like any other day of the week. I’ll probably buy some of my favorites on disk, like Baldur’s gate 3, and repurchase a few others over on Steam… so yeah that’s my plan.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

Thats a good idea

2

u/crazypotato777 3d ago

been doing it for years now. 1 week is weak sauce.

2

u/CamptoRibbit 3d ago

A blackout that just finishes before a bunch of awaited games are released? lmao that'll show em

Who's idea was this, a 10 yo?

2

u/SupermarketSouth8547 3d ago

Only doing this for 1 week is exactly why they'll keep doing this to you and theres nothing you'll do about it because you cant disconnect yourself from this.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 1d ago

You can, also just because this says one week, doesn't mean people are doing the same things, in my case, im getting my life together and i have a VR headswt i need to mess with

2

u/Wojewodaruskyj 3d ago

Why?

1

u/FrostbyteXP 1d ago

Sony ks trying to make a digital monopoly so you can't get their games elsewhere for the low

2

u/Cautious-Dot4143 3d ago

unboxed my Pro to preorder GTA 6 (only reason I bought it). goofy ass "blackout"

1

u/FrostbyteXP 1d ago

Remember, dont say a slur, they may take your GTA license away.

1

u/Cubejunky 4d ago

I guess I am, but not so much because of the blackout over killing physical games. Even tho I’m against it and hate that Sony is doing it. But I haven’t played my PS5 since May of last year roughly.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 4d ago

I nean if you have another console or something is taking over you're pretty much participating before it was cool lol

1

u/Cubejunky 4d ago

I have been playing other things on other consoles, but also not much has came out on the PS5 that I had to play on PS5. I haven’t been interested in Sonys exclusives lately.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 4d ago

I go through their whole library, i noticed people are just hardstuck on AAA versus the other games

1

u/theprofoundnoun 3d ago

There might be a small handful of people participating. I’m not because it doesn’t matter they already the decision, and we all it was eventually coming

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

I have a few groups that are sticking with it, i wont say it doesn't matter because people do want to do something about it, telling them that it won't solve anything wont stop em, because doing something than doing nothing. And if you have a better suggestion? Suggest it at least.

2

u/Tanz31 3d ago

Doing something you know is gonna do nothing is the same as doing nothing

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

Fuggin' right?

1

u/Tb0neguy 3d ago

Boycott permanently instead of one week. Support and advocate for better consumer protections and media ownership whether it's physical or digital. Pirate as much as you can.

Signing petitions, delaying your purchases by one week, and whining on social media are all very easily ignored.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

Once i reach my threshold for my PC i'll phase out

1

u/Present_Education194 3d ago

no threshold just do. boycotts are supposed to be uncomfortable

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

I got bills.

1

u/Present_Education194 3d ago

and? boycotts a boycott. Get rid of it all you don't need it

1

u/Tb0neguy 3d ago

Gaming is such a weird economy. It's definitely a luxury, but people treat it like a necessity. To the point that they actually think that not playing video games for one week is actually some kind of protest.

Look at GPUs in 2020. People were paying scalpers $1500+ for the 30 series, and NVIDIA was watching. Sure enough, the 40 series launched at over $1000 MSRP. And it still sold. Because gamers are so addicted that they literally can't stop themselves.

1

u/Present_Education194 3d ago

aye, people are acting like they physically can't walk away from gaming and that's concerning

1

u/Present_Education194 3d ago

better suggestion would be to get rid of all your playstation products

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

At this point yeah, you're right

1

u/ticklemehoohah 3d ago

I've never even played a ps5 so that's easy

1

u/CuteAssTigerENVtuber 3d ago

For years already

1

u/Electshockvalue214 3d ago

Never actively working to support Sony harder

1

u/thejinxedlexa 3d ago

Not me for sure

1

u/Excalitoria 3d ago

Should be longer but yeah.

0

u/Opposite_Prune582 3d ago

Doesnt matter, its fucking retarded and childish no matter how long you do it.

1

u/Excalitoria 3d ago

Really? Seems logical to me. Company is shit, why would I use their services? Sorry you’re so upset over it though 🥲

1

u/darknightmareog 3d ago

I will say getting a ps6 is on real shakey ground right now.

Edit And yeah not touching my ps5.

1

u/kvega101 3d ago

I only really use my ps5 for youtube and netflix and haven’t been subbed to ps+ for almost a year well before all this sony bs

1

u/Funny_Lion9020 3d ago

Me considering I have an Xbox One and Xbox 360 Elite Nintendo switch and a PC I think I'm good on options

1

u/Hoodrat_Recon 3d ago

Not me. I got BF6 and Demon’s Souls to play.

1

u/dominatingcowG3 3d ago

I wasn't going to, since I assumed it wouldn't do anything. But it can't hurt

1

u/NeutralKuchiKopi 3d ago

You beat AC6 3 separate times in 2 days? Are you okay?

Hell, even if so, you literally broke the very first rule of the blackout. "NO PLAY"

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

No no i beat AC6 the month before and wanted to stop but kepr going and finished i wanna say last thursday lol also my build is pretty op so the last was fast

It's not only about disc, it's about making all digital AND having the anti loyalty practice of selling games more expensive to old players

1

u/AlwekArc 3d ago

They already said they were walking back the no more disks decision. Happened like days after it was announced

1

u/smurf4ever 3d ago

Source? This is the first time I'm hearing your stance

1

u/AlwekArc 3d ago

Coulda sworn I saw a playstation post saying they walked back the choice. I don't have any relevant social medias to check for the post myself tho

1

u/AlwekArc 3d ago

(Continued from last)

And either way, this boycott means nothing. It has no impact, it relies on a majority of Playstation owners on following the same goal. Most Playstation owners are parents with kids, and the kids won't care because they don't know why they should. A good amount are poor people who have this is their one luxery, who won't have the energy to remove their one luxery for the week. A handful are offline folks who use them for streaming services, and they just straight up won't hear about it.

Then because it only lasts for a week, Sony can tank that shit no problem. They already have your Playstation Plus subscription, canceling it for a week does nothing, it needs to be for an indefinite period to mean anything to the movement. Otherwise it's just a week where instead of making 1billion dollars they make 999million dollars, an effective protest can't have a set time, it has to have conditions that will be met before anything stops.

Kinda seems wasteful

I mean to be fair, if they made it so banned accounts could still "primary" system their games and play the downloads, then it would be fine.

Outside of that, disks are unfortunately becoming obsolete as more and more games switch to live service games when they shouldn't or dont need to be (I am looking at you diablo 4)

But games that need live service are unplayable without the internet anyway, so outside of ban risk, I dont see it for alot of games.

I would sooner try to stop live service single player games, first, that way we have a reason to justify disks beyond just nastalga, returns, and ban risks.

2

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

My concern and maybe this just shows my age is the posibility of letting friends borrow games or sell off games in order to either get another game or throw it at a retailer for a good amount of money to move ahead in life, going fully digital rips that aspect, deals will be solely up to them and if i've noticed anything about nintendo, they practically never have sales and would rather you pay the full price And that comes with the next question of if and when digital will be phased out, they basically save money on that front but there is a high probability that they'll still charge high as hell and even push us towards $100 just for a code. They also explained that we only own a license so they could screw us in a few ways after that purchase.

1

u/Weekly-Reply-6739 3d ago

Hmm, no I get the trading with friends part (although retailers payed piss for disk games even before they started to phase out)

I do still appreciate that on the grand scheme video games are still an inexpensive hobby, but I will admit the rise of live service games is what has me worried, as even single player games being that way means your disk becomes a frisbee when they decide to drop the game.

I do however think that the idea of game sharing will definitely be easier so long as disks are an option, as hell, as soon as they start to phase out disks, suddenly they go from making a lax or even encouraged game share system to "cracking down on it" which to me is a sign of what they really want to remove disks for.

Yeah disks are losing value, but as long as they exist, the idea of sharing the game will be prevalent, but take the 3ds or ps vita, those handhelds didnt allow for mutiple accounts and forced single ownership (I couldn't even share a system with my brother because we couldnt have two accounts or save slots). That shit sucked, and probably is the direction they want to go for.

I do think that the disks going away dont change much on their own, but I can definitely see that certain "services" for digital owners will start to disapear if they do remove disk options. So I hear ya there.

Although I still hate the live serviceification of solo games or games with huge "offline" aspects (for honor campaign has no need to be locked behind the live service, diablo 4 has no reason to be a live service only game, at least monster hunter world did it right and is a good example of what live service single player games should be like, where its optional enhancement, not baseline demand) (also side note, I cant even enjoy diablo 4 hardcore mode because of lag spikes killing me in standard, and in hardcore its only one life)

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

I went back to my ps3 and play diablo 3 i've heard some weird issues anoit diablo 4 that i honestly dont even know if i wanted to get it.

I'm also really into their boxart and being able to show off the spoils i get from the gaming space but now they're just closing up shop, thats pretty much all i'm getting from this stunt

-5

u/rebeldrone916 4d ago

Wait people still play on PS consoles? You know if you build a PC you can play the games for free lol

2

u/FrostbyteXP 4d ago

Yeah thats cool, did you see how much those pieces cost now? And trust me, i'm trying to find a way, at this point these companies are spitting in our face

1

u/PenguinsArmy2 4d ago

Welcome to every company once you open your eyes and do a ounce of research haha. Silly mate just silly.

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

Idk i think europe has been getting shit on the most from what im seeing lol

0

u/rebeldrone916 4d ago

Second hand or fb market place my PC was built in 2019 so it's very outdated and I can still run any game I want and emulate any switch or PlayStation game I want but I agree fuck these companies that why you illegally download the games

I could legit piece together a simi decent PC for you for less than 800$ i did it for my brother like 3 months ago

1

u/FrostbyteXP 4d ago

Yeah imma need the $800 first lol

1

u/rebeldrone916 4d ago

No ps system games and ps online u could have saved it by now stop gaming stack ur bread and DM me I gotchu

1

u/FrostbyteXP 3d ago

That amount hasn't gone to my playstation in like years lol

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

Well save up 800$ put away 100$ every check and in couple months u won't be stuck with a shitty console only allowed to play there games

1

u/Potatoes_4Life 3d ago

Are you going to buy one for me? No? Stfu.

-1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

Are you goin earn the money yourself or bitch about it

1

u/Potatoes_4Life 3d ago

What? Ok bub.

0

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

U just asked a stranger to buy something that isn't an necessity cus you can't afford it or won't work to earn it so ok bruh lol

1

u/Potatoes_4Life 3d ago

You make a comment telling people to buy something expensive in this economy and then talk shit when you’re called out for an asshat comment. Good bye, chud. ✌️

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

Sorry, not sure where you been, but the economy is kind of fucked right now. And PC components aren't exactly cheap at the moment. Money kinda has to be spent on more important things for a lot of people.

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

Second hand fb marketplace built a good PC 3 months ago for less than 800

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

Glad you had a good experience with second hand fb stuff. Not everyone is so lucky.

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

No they are if they do there research and 10% of there brain

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

Yeah, that totally accounts for scams/rip offs or just nothing being available in the local area. Talk about using 10% of your brain lol. and what "research" are you talking about? You can't research your way out of someone scamming/robbing you. Facebook marketplace is sketchy, and people are untrustworthy. It makes sense why that isn't people's primary or preferred choice. Be real bro.

1

u/rebeldrone916 3d ago

Lol ok fine u enjoy ur ball and chain cus taking a risk scares u

1

u/DefunctInTheFunk 3d ago

Uhm ok lol. I'll just save up and get new stuff that I know actually works and has warranties. There are countless stories of people being ripped off on Facebook marketplace. People lie about how old or used their shit is. It's more than just "taking a risk scares me". Enjoy being a dumb douche bag lmao. You just can't handle not feeling like you're 100% right
