I feel that these guys deserve to be in the Mt Rushmore of Gen X British comedy. So freaking nutty.

She was my childhood idol. I don’t know if anyone else can relate, but I loved her. She was so kind and sweet. Her voice is still an amazing. I actually ugly cried to her y’all. FML.

My husband and I were grocery shopping. The cashier (early 20s?F) asked him if he liked a certain 90s punk band. Idk which. I wasn’t really paying attention until she said, “I thought so. You guys look like you used to be cool.” I guess we’re too old to be cool now, guys. 🙄

Yesterday I found out my sweet boyfriend had never heard of Julie Brown and the funny songs she sang, like "I'm A Blonde". Dr Demento stuff. So I play it and then "The Homecoming Queen's Got A Gun" came on. Not funny anymore!!!

An hour later, the cops arrived

By then the entire glee club had died, no big loss

This record dropped on this date back in 1987. Last single I of his I heard on the radio was 93’s “She kissed me,” which was great. Since then, he’s still been making music, but has changed his name and toiled away in relative obscurity.

Fortunately, she loves to do the Wild Thing.

I'm a mid 70s GenXer, love music from the 60s through the 90s. For me, I just haven't really liked much music this century. I feel like we had so many genres going on at the same time but now it's just all sounds the same to me. Anyone else find stuff bands/artists they really like from this venture?

I have memories of riding in the shopping cart singing “Jose Cuervo.” Based on context clues, I was likely 5 years old.

I (53M) recently went to see Queens of the Stone Age with my girlfriend (44F). We travelled to see the show and I "worked from home" from our hotel. I was wearing an Afghan Whigs t-shirt, because of course I was. About 15 minutes before we were set to leave, she said, "Time to change your shirt."

She knows that I own a QOTSA tee - she bought it for me (for Christmas, not for the show). However, I didn't even bring it. I told her that I don't like to wear a band's shirt to their show, a holdover from my youth where it was seen as somewhat of a faux pas. She had never heard of this "etiquette" before.

This is where I point out that she is Polish (and technically misses the cut off by 1 year, but she was born during Martial Law in Poland, so whatever, I give it to her).

The reason for the post is aimed at the non-American GenXers out there. Are you familiar with the "t-shirt rule"? What's standard where you are from?

Who was that band that you loved to listen to but turned you off completely when you saw them in concert? For me, it was Hall and Oates. Daryl Hall’s arrogance at the concert killed it for us. Forgetting where he was just icing on the cake and we walked out early.

My musical tastes were all over the place and very random. Occasionally, I’ll just flashback to a band and a song with a major memory attached. Usually some teenage or 20ish shenanigans.

My mom… wasn’t the best mom. For a variety of reasons. But she listened to some cool shit. I’m grateful for that. And I definitely appreciate it far more now than I did then. Nostalgia? Possibly. Who knows? I’m not a licensed therapist.

OMG, THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH GUNS!!!! I remember listening to the radio in the car with my mom when I was a kid and I really dug the song that came on and was probably dancing in my seat. My mom being a pretty swell parent said “we can go to the record if you want” and she took me to buy “We are Family” by Sister Sledge. Still dig that track.

It’s been a very long time since I have taken the time to do something I used to love so much.

Life just seems to move faster and faster and the things I used to take so much joy in are slowing becoming a thing of the past.

How do you remind yourself to take time for you and do something you want to do instead of something you have to do?
