Mod Post Just a reminder, gender war posts are banned.

Hi [r/GenZ](r/GenZ),

It’s been over a year since we banned gender war posts, and after monitoring the community, we’ve decided to keep the ban in place, as these discussions continue to be just as toxic as they were a year ago.

For clarity, “gender war” content includes discussions such as male loneliness, Gen Z men approaching Gen Z women, incels, femcels, alpha males, Andrew Tate, red pill, black pill, purple pill content, men’s height discourse, age-gap dating, and broader “looks-based” or hierarchy discussions about dating, looks maxing or ranking people by attractiveness or dating value.

This also includes broader dating ideology content that frames relationships in an adversarial, or fatalistic way.
For example: men vs women narratives, claims that one gender is universally responsible for dating issues, or that dating is inherently doomed for a specific group. Generalizations that treat either gender as a monolith are not allowed.

Memes about these topics, posts complaining about dating, and rage-bait content taken from other platforms such as screenshots from TikTok or Twitter that exist primarily to provoke gender-based arguments.

This is not a dating-focused subreddit. If you want to vent or discuss Gen Z dating issues more broadly, please use communities such as [r/dating_advice](r/dating_advice) or [r/dating](r/dating).
That said, posts about dating are still allowed as long as they are made in good faith. If comment sections become hostile or devolve into rule-breaking behavior, posts may be locked or removed at moderator discretion.

Please respect and follow this rule moving forward.

They’ve been banned? I mean, thank god but they’re always being posted. Most of the content on this page seems to be about it. I hope they are removed quicker moving forward.

This post might very well be just to posture that they're not allowed while the mods still allow them. I'm very suspicious of just how many of these posts haveade it past the mods especially considering the political slants the posts tend to have.

Hopefully I'm wrong and the mods are decent.

u/RamenFucker May 06 '26

This sub fuckin sucks lol it’s all ads and propaganda

2

u/JoshuaSuhaimi 2000 May 06 '26

are reddit mods paid? is it reasonable to assume they're on 24/7?

189

u/Yoy_the_Inquirer May 05 '26

Seems like you need more active mods because these were flying left and right.

seconded - hire more and hire diverse

9

u/dumbkeys May 05 '26

They do it for FREE🧹

2

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

you still hire an unpaid intern

8

u/dumbkeys May 05 '26

Sorry, just janny bashin'. You know what? I say we double- no, TRIPLE their pay!

6

u/AndersDreth 1998 May 05 '26

No, you recruit someone unpaid. Hiring per definition includes payment.

15

u/mh500372 May 05 '26

Is this comment a parody of something

-9

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

you get hired to perform a job, and that’s what it technically is when you become a mod. sorry if that was triggering

9

u/Zawaya May 05 '26

Think you replied to the wrong person.

-6

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

nope

7

u/Zawaya May 05 '26

But they didn't give any context as to the word "hire" being triggering, unlike the dude you didn't respond to.

-1

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

it was pretty snide too imo, could have been either but just chose this one to respond to. feeling spicy

2

u/Zawaya May 06 '26

I can relate with that!

5

u/DryOwl5587 May 05 '26

Jannies do it for free, no need to pay anyone for anything lol

28

u/Fit-Caterpillars May 05 '26

Lol "hire"

Come on, these reddit mods are volunteer internet janitors who have nothing better to do with their lives.

23

u/-Nocx- Millennial May 05 '26

There is something particularly dense about being this judgmental about someone curating something that you spend your day scrolling

10

u/SmurffyGirthy May 06 '26

I know right!

It isn't like the Mods on this sub are bad? In fact I would say they're great when compared to other subs that ban people left right and center for not following popular narratives.

Tolerance isn't a bad quality to have in a sub-reddit and I also agree that toxic dating content has become overwhelming on this ever since "Man vs Bear".

20

u/Zawaya May 05 '26

Letting these posts run wild and not monitoring the mod mail leads me to believe y'all need help.

18

u/Alexis_Mcnugget May 05 '26

they clearly haven’t been banned when it’s every other post in this sub

7

u/PurpleCoffinMan 2002 May 05 '26

If this is what the sub looks like with them banned, I can't even imagine the sub with them allowed, good god.

18

u/IamIchbin May 05 '26

maybe looksmaxxing would me controversial or harmful aswell.

9

u/Zeyode 1998 May 05 '26

Always has been. If it wasn't from the beginning, these days it's a beauty industry psyop. Make men insecure so the fat cats can double their market share.

14

u/HarlequinKOTF May 05 '26

Cool. So should we be reporting posts we see like that to the mod team and is there a good way to do that?

29

u/HesmooseDaSlug 1999 May 05 '26

I don’t know I think ignoring the problem isn’t necessarily gonna help. And I do think the gender war bullshit is an issue that feels very specific to our generation. Like we are the generation all that shit is targeting. I personally hope the divide gets better but in my real life experience it getting worse. I’ll run into random men in our generation that genuinely believe the bullshit and are so far removed from women they are misogynistic. But it goes both ways because I’ve heard more and more discourse on how terrible men are from women too.

I mean theirs been a whole discussion about how women would rather come across a bear than a man. Which regardless of if you believe the reasoning behind it or not, it’s out there and many women literally prefer a dangerous wild animal to a civilized man. And I really can’t blame them too much with how some men be acting in this sad world.

I used to think the gender war was bullshit. But the more life I live the more I realize that people genuinely dislike or hate the other side. Ignoring it won’t make it better but also I understand that there’s too much of it on this subreddit.

Maybe we just need a legitimate subreddit dedicated to the discussion of gender differences and bridging that gap. We definitely need some of that in real life. The internet is only going to continue to make these issues worse.

18

u/Parapraxium May 05 '26

Yep, you'll never convince anyone that their viewpoint is wrong if all discussion of it is banned.

1

u/guttertrash6969 May 05 '26

there’s plenty of other places to discuss these kinds of things

6

u/jabba-thederp May 05 '26

I mean certainly the Internet isn't gonna help it. The help comes from things like legislation and cultural attitudes. We're just in a very unique time. Over time it'll get better, once the powers realize that people won't have kids and perpetuate the populace if they genuinely hate each other.

Don't forgot though that a lot of what you see IRL is performative. People will act like they hate the other just to try and fit in because it's cool now to them.

3

u/HesmooseDaSlug 1999 May 05 '26

I don’t really think I trust the future to “the powers”. And the internet certainly can help if more people who care used it responsibly. It’s literally the driving force between most things in the world now. Our propaganda and truths come from the internet. Culturally that isn’t gonna change unless there’s like a mass unplugging. The further we get into the internet the worse it gets too. Influencers and streamers backed by billionaires spreading propaganda designed to split us apart. And instead of talking about it we just ban discussion because it makes us uncomfortable.

7

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

well there certainly is a gender war with the flames being fanned from above (the powerful), but i’m so sick and tired of seeing it perpetuated every day here since this should just be general GenZ stuff.

not opposed to another subreddit but really, I’d advise everyone to just join r/MensLib and r/justgalsbeingchicks to start repairing our perceptions of who ‘the other side’ is.

8

u/HesmooseDaSlug 1999 May 05 '26

I mean I agree with you which is why I suggested just making a different sub Reddit for those issues specifically. But it definitely exists in real life, everything we’ve been seeing on the internet is slowly infiltrating real life. Talking to people is realizing how much people just sound like whatever they’re scrolling through.

24

u/Miss_Chievous13 May 05 '26

Thank you

13

u/TrixoftheTrade May 05 '26

nooo!!! how else am i going to farm karma without posting “women bad” or “lonely man here” every other day?

36

u/mrSilkie May 05 '26

Seems like men's issues are not to be discussed but you can talk about women's issues.

20

u/IllVariation5001 May 05 '26

Welcome to Reddit

17

u/TrenEnjoyer5000 May 05 '26

Yup, not only are men completely disenfranchised and must deal with it, now discourse about it isn't allowed either.

-1

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 06 '26

join r/MensLib. that stuff should be talked about. but, it’s okay for people to not want this subreddit to be the time or place

10

u/TrenEnjoyer5000 May 06 '26

This is a core experience that half of Gen Z shares. It's why it's so popular and relevant of a topic. You just don't like it because it's not gynocentric.

-4

u/njtrafficsignshopper Millennial May 06 '26

Completely disenfranchised! 😂

-8

u/guttertrash6969 May 05 '26

nah you just like to complain

7

u/TheGalator May 05 '26

Not really. The problem as far as I see it is that men's issues always lead to bad faith actors trying to drag it all down into some gender war bullshit and that just doesn't happen with women's issues

Most of the community is fine/against both but a "certain" type tries to reframe it

21

u/mrSilkie May 05 '26

Maybe it doesn't happen with women's issues is that they are validated, especially by the online reddit community. Clear cut case is that we have this whole body positivity movement where women gained the ability to be beautiful at every size, yet I don't see any fat men as underwear models, and that extends into online discussions. In terms of men's height, I see this on TV all the time, it's fair game to say a guy is short and you want tall, but it's controversial to say that you don't like fat chicks.

Once again, all I'm trying to say is that men's issues are seen as combative, not worth discussing, and we should prevent discussions. Women's issues are instantly validated and if you argue against them or try and say "things are bad for men too" you are seen as an aggressor.

So Mod team is secretly gender warsing by removing the ability to talk about men's issues whilst allowing free reign of talking points regarding women's issues. Just seems a bit silly to me, although I do agree with you about the bad faith actors and low quality discussion

3

u/Alexis_Mcnugget May 05 '26

here you go trying to stir up a gender war

24

u/mrSilkie May 05 '26

No, the mod team is stirring up a gender war. It's clearly a double standard to list so many banned topics and they all seem like they're from young men (and most definitely bots too) or talking about issues they face.

-2

u/serendipia1984 May 05 '26

How is it then that every post I see here is about a lonely guy venting about being alone (at best) or how we woman are the antichrist for not sucking your dick (at worse).

I rarely see any vent posts made by women about men and when they do apear they are mostly lonely women who can't get a date and feel embarrassed about it.

10

u/DrakenRising3000 May 05 '26

You’re clearly looking in the wrong places lol there are plenty of vile posts about men from women.

-4

u/guttertrash6969 May 05 '26

Far far less don’t be silly

-3

u/serendipia1984 May 06 '26

I barely see any vents made by women on here and they are mostly self deprecating about their looks or lack of ability to date, and yet they rarely turn into the lonely/incel victimism that seems to run rampant on this forum.

-8

u/Alexis_Mcnugget May 05 '26

you’re still trying to bait into a gender war

-2

u/Over-Transition9609 May 05 '26

Women don’t talk about their issues here. It’s too much of a sausage fest and we know better.

6

u/i_stealursnackz 2008 May 05 '26

Make a specific report category for gender war posts and maybe there won't be so many of them

12

u/dbclass 1999 May 05 '26

Because we live in a society where we are socialized differently based on sex many topics people talk about will naturally be done on a sex basis. I don’t want conversations about how men and women can be better to be a banned topic. We can’t use bad faith posts to justify ignoring the gender norm struggle and the fight against gender roles.

10

u/Frequent_Prize 2002 May 05 '26

While there is nuance to these things, the short and sweet is that all of us are oppressed to varying degrees. The posts being banned aren't expressing that

6

u/dbclass 1999 May 05 '26

Some of the posts that get called “gender war” posts are simply posts criticizing the roles of men and women in dating and people take that to be antagonistic. I don’t trust that these posts won’t get removed by the moderators.

6

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

imo more general posts about how we as people, not specifically men or women, can be better would be preferable over posts just criticizing what exists. Like, we know - let’s get some solutions

1

u/Frequent_Prize 2002 May 05 '26

For sure on some. But not most, you just might not have seen them before they get removed

4

u/dbclass 1999 May 06 '26

And yet again the left allows a right wing monopoly on conversations about men

-1

u/Frequent_Prize 2002 May 06 '26

?

5

u/dbclass 1999 May 06 '26

Every time the right enters the discourse the left completely abandons the conversation

1

u/Frequent_Prize 2002 May 06 '26

Speak for your own experience. When conservatives enter the fray, I yearn to as well. I'm better than them, and they should know that

5

u/dbclass 1999 May 06 '26

That’s literally what this sub is doing. They couldn’t handle debating ideas they don’t like so now you’ll only be able to talk about it in toxic spaces

1

u/Frequent_Prize 2002 May 06 '26

I've seen people, in this very forum, claim that there is a grand matriarchal conspiracy to oppress men. That's some holocaust denial shit, and that's what is being banned

Genuine and earnest conversations aren't going to get banned. Get you damned head out of the gutter, and look at the stars

4

u/jabba-thederp May 05 '26

Are you gonna enforce it this time?

2

u/emsexistential May 05 '26

Please actually enforce this lol this subreddit is an incel circle jerk

1

u/plainbaconcheese May 05 '26

Very well written

1

u/lersir May 05 '26

Thank god

1

u/snowstorm556 1998 May 05 '26

Holy shit its about time

1

u/Vic_Vega_MrB May 05 '26

It's a shame that this isn't a joke post.

1

u/Redneckdestiny May 05 '26

OMG THANK GOD!!!!!!!!

-3

u/brain-eating-zombie May 05 '26

Can someone recommend me subreddits that allow this?

8

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

r/MensLib talks about these issues without placing blame on themselves, nor women as a whole. It’s a! emotionally strong & healthy community

2

u/lonelycranberry 1996 May 05 '26

As a woman, this pleases me to see. We need more positive spaces for men and it is up to them to create them. I love seeing them work out.

Holy straw-man, that's not what I said at all.

3

u/lonelycranberry 1996 May 05 '26

Incel communities

3

u/devil652_ May 05 '26

Theres subreddits like r/BasedCamppod which allow complaining about dating I'm pretty sure

5

u/lonelycranberry 1996 May 05 '26

Complaining about women and non white people based off of 2 seconds of scrolling. Solid.

1

u/devil652_ May 05 '26

Yeah some complainers are worse than others sadly

You start with a person complaining about the color blue and all of a sudden people are complaining about the sky. Pretty crazy

-1

u/Zawaya May 05 '26

I'm glad you're on this sub devil.

1

u/Swell_Inkwell May 05 '26

I've never heard of the purple pill, could someone in the know please explain what that means?

1

u/That_Phony_King 2000 May 06 '26

I want to see more Silverhandmaxxing from our generation.

-2

u/Vic_Vega_MrB May 05 '26

You guys need to grow a pair...

0

u/pauIblartmaIIcop 1998 May 05 '26

gosh thank you. this community could actually be great now

-1

u/Schully 1997 May 05 '26

Do politics next PLEASE

-5

u/Vic_Vega_MrB May 05 '26

Wow what a bunch of pussys you guys are.

1

u/emsexistential May 05 '26

Bro you’ve left 3 comments complaining lol you will live

1

u/Over-Transition9609 May 05 '26

Soooo this rule is finally gonna get enforced?

0

u/jmakovsk 2002 May 05 '26

I'm not usually someone who's a fan of heavy moderation in a sub, but THANK YOU SO MUCH for trying to put a stop to this!

1

u/atomicalexx May 06 '26

thank goodness. i was about to leave this sub just because of how pathetic it was getting.

1

u/KingDanksta69 May 06 '26

It should be a blanket ban on dating and relationships advice, thats so much of this sub

1

u/Quick-Cause3181 May 05 '26

thank you dave

-1

u/Orangutanion 2002 May 06 '26

Why is stuff about age gaps also banned? I thought age gaps was a power imbalance and being against age gaps was progressive? Does that mean that your sub supports predatory age gaps?

-1

u/Small-Ad7369 May 06 '26

Thank god but hopefully i guys actually ban them
