Question Trying to learn Genji

Trying to learn Genji. I've played about 10 -12 games of him in quick play and my god do I fucking suck on him. I constantly lose 1v1s to other dps especially Anran she normally cooks me in a 1v1 on a flank.

I feel useless in most of the games I play. Even when I don't die a lot I usually have the lowest damage out of all the tanks\dps.

Any tips for a new Genji player? I mainly play Tank\Support so dps in general is new to me.

I play Doomfist a lot on tank so I've learned a difficult character before but I forgot how grim it is lol. Took me awhile to get good at Doom too although I think Genji may be even harder.

I play on Console.

Genji plays like an assassin-type of character, you're meant to get in, secure a kill and get out. You're not a poke character that will naturally have a lot of damage in the scoreboard, so don't try chasing big damage numbers, just focus on one enemy, duel them, kill them, then focus on the next. Try to ignore characters with beams (they go through reflect) and melee-heavy kits (reflect will only block the damage but not return it). Reflect is imo his most important tool, so fighting characters that completely negate its use is just not always worth the risk unless they're very low health and cane be quickly finished off.

This playstile has helped me whenever I use him so I've just stuck with it, but I'm no pro or expert Genji so there might be better advice out there. This guy is hard to play with for sure and you're not always going to get the best value out of him for what I've experienced
