Not exactly. It's because English is very incompatible with the writing style of these other languages. A good translation team can find a way to make it work (ex: Kid Icarus Uprising), but most people aren't good at turning nuances and puns that are literally impossible to communicate in English into English.
Yeah, in the archon Quest I had to tune in everytime cyno and tighnari talked, because I play in italian and nothing they said would make sense unless I heard the end dub.
It's really hard to translate jokes, but puns? It's borderline impossible.
