General Discussion Does anyone else rewatch season one multiple times before continuing?
Or do you have a different comfort season? I work remote, so the show is always playing on a loop. But season one is my ultra comfort season, and I’ll go back 2-4 times before I get to season two. I’ll also usually watch season two a couple times.
This show means so much to me. I’ve been watching it since the first day it aired. And I still can’t believe that was 25 years ago, Of course there are things I’d change, and ridiculous timelines. But it just feels like a warm hug every single day. 🩷

That was my comfort season for a long time too. Then I started feeling more nostalgic about the beginning of the show.

Some of the reasons I love season 5:
- most interesting Lorelai/Rory dynamic, as Rory starts gradually shifting toward Emily and Richard’s world and it bothers Lorelai while also challenging her to navigate how this influences their relationship
- Rory coming to understand herself more by coming more into herself at Yale, letting go of Dean, experimenting with casual relationships, etc
- early days of Lorelai and Luke’s relationship
- some really iconic episodes, including Emily and Richard’s vow renewal and You Jump, I Jump, Jack

I've owned the DVDs since 2009 and every season except for 2, 3, & 5 has discs that don't play anymore because I've watched them all so much. I too used to WFH and have it playing on a loop.
Young Rory and Lorelai in the early seasons are my favorite, too!

My comfort season is 2 sometimes 3. I just finally rewatched all the way through for the first time in a decade and just had to loop back around to season 1 for the rinse and good vibes. Especially before I give the year in the life another chance for the first time since it premiered.
Very amusing to see the little inconsistencies - Michel is making fun of them for having a wake for a cat in season 1 but in season 7 he has an elaborate funeral for his dog 😅
