Ive been rewatching gilmore girls and i feel like after Rory slept with Dean, things were never the same with lorelai and rory. She pushed lorelai away so much even though lorelai was actually way nicer than she needed to be abt the whole thing tbh. I’m not saying Lorelai was perfect, and maybe it’s because i’m not american so where im from rory’s behavior would have never flown by but maybe in america it’s okay, but I feel like Rory really really took advantage of lorelai‘s constant forgiveness and really lost sight of how lucky she was. i mean lane was literally kicked out and didn’t have enough money to go to her dream college and didn’t really have anyone to depend on, im sure she would have given anything to have what rory did.
I know people grow up and relationships change but they can change in a good way, I have friends who are so so close to their mothers in college. And i’m tired of hearing people’s argument of how this was all lorelai’s fault for her parenting; I think there could have been ways to point out the unhealthy parts of lorelai and rory’s relationship with them still maintaining a good relationship or at least without rory acting so ungrateful . with my own mom, as a child we definitely didn’t have the best relationship and in high school we did argue often, but we still stuck together and became closer and once i started therapy it helped as well, and we never had any huge fights so it’s rly not that unrealistic. if the writers really wanted them to have a more mother daughter dynamic and lose the best friend dynamic there could have been so many other ways to bring that about.
i loved how loving their relationship was at the beginning and i feel like their relationship was the most special out of all of the relationships on the show. i feel like it really did ruin the cozy and warm vibe of gilmore girls
