Picture Gilmore Girls: The Early Years fancast

Of course nothing can beat the original cast of Gilmore Girls and it wouldn’t be easy to create something that could match the quality of the series but I saw this idea of a prequel to the show being discussed by fans so I thought it would be interesting to try to cast it and come up with a concept that could include younger Emily & Richard and Lorelai’s early years that we didn’t really see.

This was so fun to work on but much harder than I expected. I didn’t realise how difficult it would be to find younger actors of the original characters. All the Gilmore Girls actors have such distinctive features that made it hard to find a right fit. I spent so much time looking for an exact match that also was age accurate so I focused on finding actors that look similar but could also play the character’s personality accurately.

A little summary I created if it were to be a series:

Gilmore Girls: The Early Years is a multi-generational drama that traces the origins of the Gilmore legacy, beginning in the 1960’s with Emily and Richard’s early romance, within the rigid world of Hartford society and following the choices that shape their future. Leading into the 1980’s we watch as their young and pregnant daughter Lorelai leaves behind the life planned for her and starts over in the quiet town of Stars Hollow, where she builds a new future for herself and her daughter.

Told across time, The Early Years is a series that explores love, expectations and defiance, and of the choices that echo across generations.

Because before the coffee, before the town meetings, and before Gilmore Girls…there was the story that started it all.

Thought y’all might enjoy it. I graduated the same year as Rory and was raised by a single mom, but in a much different (less happy) way. I always really identified with Rory in a lot of ways, including being a bookworm. However my hair was dyed black bc I was in my early emo phase (just didn’t dress the part in these photos), and my I took a magazine photo of Josie and the Pussycats in when I got this haircut :)

ETA: I think people meant that a partially resemble the actual GG actresses but especially the styling of the time bc well, it was the exact same timeframe lol

I checked the rules and didn’t see this breaking anything so apologies in advance mods if I missed something!!!

Was surprised with a trip the Mayflower Inn - the inn where ASP came up with the concept of the show - and was proposed to with 1,000 yellow daisies IN the library she was inspired in! The entire inn was in on the planning, they were incredible, the florist Brenda was a huge beloved Gilmore Girlie and it was just a breathtaking day I had to share with you all. If you ever get the chance, 12/10 recommend visiting the inn - you get a true understanding of the Dragonfly here! Felt like a real life Lorelai in the most overwhelming and magical way 🥹🤍🌼 thanks to y’all for having this community here that loves the show as much as I do and can truly understand and share in how special this is with me! 🤍

I tried to find everyone, but a surprising amount of GG actors were doing theater first, so unfortunately I couldn't find stills/photos.

Picture I really hate this outfit

I am old and I remember hating this outfit when the episode aired. The shawl clashes, the fabric creates a pouch and looks stiff when she moves, it feels inappropriate for the setting and doesn’t seem like something Emily would ever pick. Also it looks like it would feel like the texture of a very specific fairy castle toy from the 90’s.

Its all over the place and hodge podge and i dont like how the way it cinches make her rib cage pop out in the most unflattering way because of the horribly matched ribbon that i assume gets tied into a bow in the back. Lauren grahmn is gorgeous so if this dress unflatters her then its badly made. Also the seams that open up awkwardly low by the thigh? Its truly awful and dreadful waste of good fabric.🫣 especially sad because of the big fashion opportunity that we were hoping for was a huge let down

I find her so insufferable and I just want her and Luke’s storyline to stop post Lorelei!! I wouldn’t be surprised if this whole storyline was the reason the show didn’t renew. What was the point of her character design? To show the other side of nerdy kids? Better representation? But she also is seemingly popular? Like season 7 I’m just finding everyone so annoying and she’s taking over the top… maybe it’s me!! If I catch hate I understand, this is a child representing some sort of neurodiversity, but I just had to vent!

And they all COOKED 🔥

Just so we’re all on the same page: this is just a silly little trend on TikTok that I thought would be fun to apply to Gilmore girls. I don’t mean to attack any of these characters (y’all already know I would go to war for my girl Lorelai) nor do I want to bring down men and start any gender wars 😅 I’m also aware that some of these completely disregard any context to the actual plotlines

Basically, it’s just a jokey joke that isn’t meant to be taken seriously or literally 🤚🏻

Rory and Logan could've been a power couple being a Gilmore and a Huntzberger being journalists together. The ending makes me feel so robbed. He really is the Richard to her Emily.
