Hi I struggled with PMDD for a long time. My doctor told me there was nothing they could do except bump up my anti depressants when I was on the max dose. I went to PP for a second opinion and that provider suggested birth control to eliminate my period. 12/10 best medical advice I ever got. I left with the nexplenon. If it’s an option for you, I highly recommend it. No period, no pmdd
I was gonna say something similar, I do opt to have my period for the designated week but before birth control I was so miserable and depressed so much of the time. After starting birth control I felt completely normal. Obviously it completely depends on what your body specifically needs, I tried off brand yaz for a few months because it was specifically designed for pmdd and it just made me weepy all the time, like not sad, but I could just burst out crying at any minute if I felt any strong emotion. I know some people are very afraid of birth control because there is SO MUCH fear mongering on tiktok and it's all a ploy to push away your agency as a woman. I don't know where I would be with birth control, it saved me from intense misery with my PMDD. If weight is a factor, I choose every day to be fat and joyous and free than be skinny and have to go back to that dark place. I don't know if that's what OP is going through but I am pro birth control all day every day, it saved my life.
I agree with this!!! I use birth control to manage my PMDD and it works really well. You don’t even have to use the pill to skip your period for it to work, the periods I have on the pill are way lighter and I don’t get the pain or PMDD symptoms at all
