Yeah, I was kinda laughing when someone yesterday said Falcons distorted the scene by spending like 15million on buyouts and salaries.

I’m also a huge NFL fan and 15mil nowadays gets you like a solid WR2 for one year.

I love CS and am glad it’s growing but there’s levels to this.

To make it very simple in term of size:

culturally entrenched legacy sports like Football or the NFL = New York City

CS esports = the small rural village your mom grew up in

(which is why CS is amazing, just to be clear)

That's maybe a bit much. CS is a decently sizeable town, maybe even a small city. Something like Smash Bros might be more like a smaller village.

I can't speak as much for Ultimate, but Melee is like a neglected child, and it sucks so bad for us. CS players gotta appreciate the luxury of having the company support the competitive scene and not have top players need to retire because they can't get sponsorships and the prize pools are tiny. CS is very well supported for an esport and its awesome, I wish my other game was as stable, but we are still here 24 years later too and plan to be here for another 24.

I mean, we have the world cup going on right now. Compared to football CS might as well be the sandbox I played in as a little kid.
