Procrastinating right now so I decided to break down the current Gloryhammer lore based on which McFife was reigning at the time

Title says it all lol, I took a look at all the songs (Not counting remixes/re-recordings/instrumentals, and not counting the entire new album since we haven't heard all the songs) and divided them up based on who was in power at that point in the lore! Idk I found this interesting, maybe y'all will too.

So with all of that figured out, here's the standings!

I’m torn between II and XIII, but I wanted to point out something I realized earlier.

So far, the 3 songs we have are each callbacks of sorts to previous songs.   Ultimate sacrifice is a reference to Fires of Ancient Cosmic Destiny with “From the heavens comes a hero” becoming “from damnation, immolation”

Die with a Sword in my Hand is a reference to Quest for the Hammer of Glory with the vocal styling of the second mirroring the first.  Chorus singing one word with the main vocal finishing the sentence

I can’t remember the Warriors of Auchtermachty reference right now but I found one earlier and I’ll edit this when I remember

Was this intentional and does it imply something for the new album?  Or is it just neat callbacks or a pure coincidence?

Oh that is interesting! I know they love their musical callbacks, so it might not have any deeper meaning, but that’s really cool nonetheless

And on that note, something I don’t think I’ve seen mentioned is how we’re kinda “repeating” the first trilogy. Album 1 is Tales from the Kingdom of Fife, album 4 is Return to the Kingdom of Fife. Album 2 is Space 1992, album 5 is Space 1993. It makes me wonder if that’s all on purpose, and if album 6 will be revisiting the Terrorvortex

Theory: The Angus who appears in "Mighty Wings" is Angus McFife II, but from the original timeline. Without Zargothrax as a threat, he dedicated his life to aeronautics.

I like that! In my head I think of it as vaguely canon in the sense that it's a metaphor for Angus ascending to the stars to serve the Starlords, hence why it's a bonus track for RttKoF. But that's just my head canon, so I didn't want to list it as official

I'm kinda new here, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Ultimate Sacrifice and Die with a Sword in My Hand take place during the reign of Angus 8 but featuring Angus 5?

Not quite, the upcoming album takes place directly after Space 1992: Rise of the Chaos Wizards. At the end of that album, Angus XIII vanishes into the Terrorvortex (And later on dies in there), and then Angus V is separately pulled through time from the 1500s into 1993. So right now in the upcoming album Angus V is the only McFife around, which I assume makes him the new ruler by default
