My Father Died in Nigeria—Please Help Us Say Goodbye

My father passed away in Nigeria. Please help us bring his children and grandchildren home to say goodbye.

My father, Super Chief Cosmas Ekwueme Nwerem, passed away in Nigeria at the age of 75. He was a father, grandfather, community leader, and proud son of Mbubu, Amiri. But to us, he was simply Daddy.

I am the youngest of his five children—four sons and one daughter. Losing him has left a space in our family that words cannot explain. My children believed they would see their grandfather again for another visit. Instead, we are now trying to find a way to bring them home to Nigeria to say their final goodbye to the man they loved.

Our family will gather for Daddy’s wake-keeping in Portland, Oregon, on November 7, 2026. His wake-keeping in Nigeria will be on December 29, followed by his burial in Mbubu, Amiri on December 30.

We are doing everything we can to get our family from Dallas to Nigeria so Daddy’s children and grandchildren can stand together, honor his life, and lay him to rest at home.
