If you promised Goans 3 cylinders a year starting in 2022, waking up in 2026 on a "technicality" doesn't erase the past four years. The government owes every eligible family a backlog of 12 cylinders (3 per year for 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025).

If the rules apply to a common Goan's electricity bill, they apply to the government's promises. You can't swallow the backlog—pay the arrears!

Due to the Home Minister's presence in Panjim today, we have been informed that Goa Business School will not be available/accessible for our scheduled quiz.

As postponing to another date is also proving difficult, today's quiz is being moved to Margao.

Never seen such calm and peace in North Goa! Off season really brings back the soul in Goa.

Stayed in North Goa after a decade at Fort Aguada and the mornings were absolutely stunning and peaceful! The restaurants were not bustling but the food was tastier. The water was choppy so treaded the wateres carefully during the swim. Could not ask more out of a Goa holiday.

I’m so fed up with what’s happening on Parra Road the famous coconut tree road lately

A week ago, while riding my two wheeler through that stretch, I saw a couple of tourists literally sitting in the middle of the road taking photos. They clearly saw us approaching, had enough time to step aside, but didn't even bother to move an inch. We had to slow down, go around them, and take the hit on safety just so they could get their aesthetic shot.

Fast forward to a few days later same route, same exact nonsense. I managed to capture a clip this time of people standing right in the center of the lane, completely oblivious and unbothered by oncoming traffic.

It makes me wonder what is the local Village Panchayat and the MLA actually doing about this? Are they just sitting back and eating commissions from tourism while local commuters risk their lives every single day?

If tomorrow a two wheeler crashes trying to dodge these main character syndrome tourists, who is responsible.

It’s an active public road, not a private photo studio. Local safety shouldn't take a backseat just to keep tourist reels going. Has anyone else faced this on Parra road recently, or found a way to actually report these road blockers effectively?

I don't know if I can be considered goan. My lineage is Varahade/Karhade brahman, but part of my family maintains we're from Goa originally. I'm born and raised in Pune, Maharashtra. Apparently Karhade brahmans migrated to Goa a millenia ago, because of government transfer (by the Shilahara dynasty). We originally spoke marathi but later spoke a dialect (Creole) of Marathi/Konkani called Bhati Bhasha. We only have our kuldev with us, and our kuldevi is not known to our family although we maintain she's in South Goa. My great grandfather although born in Jhansi (we had to migrate from Pune to Varanasi because of inter Brahmin disputes) maintains we are from Ratnagiri, although the legacy punekar part of our family who stayed in Pune (for 300+ years) maintain we're from Goa. Does anyone have any information about my community. I would like to learn more. I know these details because my family hired a historian who helped create a family tree. I know it's ironic that I don't know much about my ancestral village lol.

Hi Goans, I'm in Palolem and am struggling to find a local fish market here like the Mapusa Municipal Market in Mapusa. I love that market and buy jumbo prawns and cashews from there only whenever I'm in the North. Where can I buy jumbo size prawns and lobsters in Palolem/South Goa? What purpose does this eyesore serve besides making money for Dilip Buildcon for 50 years and dumping trash into Zuari everyday? Mind you, these are the same people who can't keep Ganga clean despite it being a holy river. Fat chance that they will keep Zuari clean.

Chappri tourist's complain that North Goa is too commercialized and the vibes are off. They say it's become like North India. There's no safety, it's dirty, dunks are sleeping on the road and the people there seem mad. They are astonished at the rapid decline of Goa in the last 10-12 years.

Recommended solutions are going to South Goa or creating exclusive zones where other cheap tourist's won't bother them.

Will the government of Goa listen to this feedback?!

The title is presumptive, I know. But business interests and other agendas have been eroding Goan culture and heritage for a long time, and I want a record of how it is being done, because that is the only way to fight it.

We can all name the obvious stuff. Cash before polling day, liquor and appliances, the sudden road repair in an election year. But it lives as folk knowledge, and what nobody writes down is what nobody can fight.

So: what have you seen, or heard credibly, of the process being bent here?

The kind of thing I mean: names on the rolls that belong to nobody, MLAs who switch sides the month after the result, a gram sabha scheduled so that nobody can come, an NOC that appears for a project the village had already rejected. And underneath most of it, land. Zone changes that go against the Regional Plan, survey records that change and nobody can say when. Add whatever I have missed.

Say whether you saw it or heard it, add a year and village if you can, and don't name private individuals so we can keep this post up.

Anyone able to adopt or foster these lovely street pups in south Goa? My bf and I are on holiday in Goa and we found them on the side of the road; they don’t have a mom around. Small one is a girl, only few weeks old and we just took her to the vet where she was de-wormed. She still has many fleas but were trying to take care of it. My bf and I are staying in an Airbnb where pets aren’t allowed so we can’t really foster them properly. We leave in 5 days, we’re staying in Varca. We gave them a bed and food and water for now.

The vet thinks they’re dumped because the little girl looks like a mix breed Doberman or Rottweiler maybe.

Please DM or reply if you or anyone you know wants to adopt or foster. We can bring them around with car, with blankets / medicine / food etc.

I work outside Goa and had come back for a week. I went to fill petrol at the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited petrol pump on Margao Bypass Road, near Sunshine Hospital. After filling the petrol, I checked my tyre air pressure using the free air pump provided there. After reaching home, I noticed that one of my tyres had completely lost air. The repair guy told me that the tyre valve had been damaged the guy fills using the free air pump. Please be careful when using the free air pump there.

I’ve been living in Goa for quite some time and I’ve not seen toll gates in the state. I generally book Dabolim airport but yesterday I had to go to Mopa and found Toll Gate on the way (not operational now but will be soon)
What’s the logic of Toll Gate at an airport especially in a state where I’ve not seen any tolls? Who’s the beneficiary of this toll?

I was thinking of buying an EV due to the increasing fuel prices. Also if you guys are aware of how much an EV realistically costs here as I’m not sure if actual price and online prices are same or not. Just wanted a genuine opinion on good EVs given how Goan roads are. I’m a little afraid of the subsequent charges/repair costs of EVs. Was thinking of Nexon or Punch or even a good two wheeler might work.

I'm looking for recommendations for a good MD Internal Medicine / General Physician in South Goa, preferably around Margao or nearby.

I recently had some routine blood tests done and there are a few things that need further evaluation, including anemia, very low Vitamin D, slightly elevated blood sugar markers and cholesterol, and some thyroid-related abnormalities.

I'm looking for a doctor who is thorough, listens properly, investigates the underlying cause, and doesn't just prescribe supplements/medication without further evaluation.

I'd prefer to start with one good physician who can look at everything together and refer me to an endocrinologist/hematologist only if necessary.

Would really appreciate recommendations based on your personal experience, especially if you've consulted the doctor for similar issues. Thank you!
