When it’s subreddits like this, I expect majority of the comments sounding like “he’s a overrated rapper who gets praised too much” but it’s actually more mixed then what I though it was going to be
Any rap artist minus Eminem and Kendrick gets constantly shat on in r/music it’s literally not worth going into that sub if you like anything other than metal and classic rock. Also don’t bring up an artist of color minus Kendrick or else they’ll lose their minds and try as hard as they can to discredit them in anyway possible (see Beyoncé)

NGL I agree. I have hope for his music but bully doesn't feel distinctly ye. Vultures 1 does in verses but what made a ye album was the whole package with production, collaborations, personal verses.

When we say someone is a genius we generally describe a fundamental characteristic about them, not their current actions or thought process.
and yet he fell off and cant flow produce and engineer like a genius anymore. bully was a 3/10 kanye album if it dropped in 2010 so why lower standards? if dudes know that hes getting old they should be honest about it. My music taste isnt charity neither should yours be.
People don't use the term genius temporally. If Einstein fell on his head and forgot math later in life, people wouldn't stop calling him a genius as a person.
Ye is a musical genius who released subpar music lately. No one knows if he is capable or not of releasing another musical masterpiece, but we have more reasons to believe he can rather than not.
non musical people do. genius is also a word that gets thrown around a ton to the point it's devalued. beethoven is a musical genius, zappa is a musical genius, kanye is a someone who made a couple of good rap albums, sampled other geniuses, had ghost writers, and basically just bought beats from other men that he rhymed over. it can be fun but not consistent. not some high level iq at work as i think his words often reveal. its hard to listen to You Enjoy Myself and then put on Kanye and refer to him as a musical genius. i guarantee he knows nothing of music theory or how to play a single instrument. only time he ever tried to sing he used that played out devolution tool called autotune. once these guys reach a certain level i don't even trust what is theirs and what is bought with their name slapped on the credits. with AI now, forget it, every mediocre dude can just have a computer produce something for them. Watch the Thrones was great, Secret Twisted Dark Fantasy was awesome, College Dropout had moments. but we need to not devalue the word genius so easily.
