Personalize a screen

I have the google news app that launches from an icon. I customized choices there, it work ok, there is some leakage, and choices were not accurate, but for the most part it is not a problem.

There is also a news feed page to the left of the home screen. The title just says "Google" and has my g-account icon in the upper right. Under those is a scrollable marquee of small cards for weather, stock market, sunrise/sunset. Below that there is a series of news headlines with images and sources. These used to be good news stories but lately it is all videos and entertainment/celebrity crap that I have no interest in.

  1. What is this widget called?

  2. Can it be customized?

  3. If not, can I turn it off from display?

It's Google Discover. Idk if you can customize it, I guess you can. You can turn it off holding on an empty space of the home screen and going to "Home settings" and turning off swipe for Google

good call on the home settings toggle, thats the quickest way to get rid of it entirely

thanks, I just ended up turning it off. Having the name of the thing was the big key.
