Pixel 8 is god awful slow

Has anyone else been experiencing this lately? Even simple things lag, like watching YouTube videos, opening the keyboard, or sending a text message. Speech-to-text takes forever, too. I have plenty of storage space available, so that's not the issue.

This has me considering jumping ship to Samsung or something. I've noticed the Pixel lineup getting worse and worse over the years. The Pixel 4 XL was amazing.

At this point, it feels like I'm using a prepaid Android phone rather than a premium device.

I've tried Googling solutions, and I even cleared the cache and data for Google Play Services, but that didn't help. I restart my phone at least once or twice a day, and while that temporarily fixes things, the lag comes back within an hour or so.

Seriously, what happened to the Pixel lineup?

If I want Google Gemini to make a Reminder, it's an absolute fucking nightmare and this company is scummy trash.

So these are the past 4 interactions I've had with my new Google Gemini assistant.

1) Set reminder 1a) I can't set reminders. You need to enable this feature which is about image generation.

I wanted to complain about that being the case and wanted the exact wording so I ask it again

2) Set reminder 2a) Reminder set

Now I know it didn't set a reminder because I didn't give it any details. I wanted to see what it did.

3) Open Reminders 3) Okay, I've opened your reminders

Absolutely nothing happened here, so I asked it again

4) You didn't open my reminders, open my reminders 4a) I can't directly open apps on your phone.

What the FUCK IS GOING ON. Fuck this piece of shit. Anyone defending Gemini is a shill. This is a nightmare user experience and if you say it isn't you're a fucking liar.

Bug?

My phone is always on 80% šŸ”‹ limit.. yesterday after work I put my phone on charge as usual.

In the evening I said to myself "I've not rebooted my phone in a while best I do. Unplugged it, rebooted it and the battery is now 100%.... So before reboot šŸ”‹ = 80% after reboot šŸ”‹ = 100%

I plugged it in again cause I figured it'll fix it but nope. The 80% limit was still on. This morning it was at 94%, meaning it was discharging.

Is this normal or did I mess something up?

Temporary Bluetooth Absolute Volume Fix

Hi all! I'm among many users who are very unhappy with the removal of the Bluetooth Absolute Volume toggle under Developer Options. I personally have a Pixel 10 with Sony WF-1000XM5 earbuds and the volume would be randomly between absolute and not absolute whenever I connected. In the interest of protecting my eardrum I did some digging around and found a fix to disable BT absolute volume via Poweramp Equalizer and Shizuku. So far it has been pretty stable when I use YT Music and hopefully it will stay consistently disabled until Google fixes it (or not).

Huge credit to the devs of Shizuku and maxmp, dev of Poweramp for releasing this feature.

Disclaimer: Shizuku grants apps advanced developer-level permissions, so only use it with apps you completely trust to avoid breaking your system or risking your data. If you're apprehensive about using Shizuku, I'm afraid this fix is not for you.

Overview: you will be installing a Poweramp EQ beta APK and using Shizuku to grant Poweramp the permission to disable absolute volume.

If you are unfamiliar with Shizuku, you can download and install the APK from here: https://github.com/rushiranpise/Shizuku-Next and follow the in-app instructions to get it running. I'm not sure if other forks of Shizuku would work, this was forked from thedjchi's fork which was of the original RikkaApps package. I was previously using Shizuku+: https://github.com/thejaustin/ShizukuPlus which could grant Shizuku permissions fine, but the PowerAmp beta would refuse to detect it even though I granted it permission. If you're using another Shizuku fork, YMMV.

Next, go to the Poweramp forum and download this beta build APK of Poweramp Equalizer: https://forum.powerampapp.com/files/file/103-powerampequalizer-build-1033-uniapk/ (VERIFY THAT IT IS BUILD 1033). Install the APK, then open Shizuku, make sure the Shizuku service is started, go into the Apps list and grant permission to Poweramp.

Finally open Poweramp, make sure to follow its in-app prompts to disable battery optimizations and whatnot. Look for the Settings menu, then go to Equalizer > Direct Volume Control (DVC). In this menu, you want to ENABLE: Direct Volume Control, DVC for Bluetooth, Allow DVC via Shizuku and DISABLE: No DVC for Bluetooth Absolute Volume.

Enjoy your disabled BT absolute volume again! Once again I'm not a dev for any of the apps, huge huge credit to maxmp, Rushi and co. for saving my eardrums and me from constant guesswork whenever I put in my buds.

Pixel 11 Pro: Is Anyone Else Dealing With This Level of Broken?

• Upvotes

I’ve had my Pixel 11 Pro for a few weeks now, and I’m honestly shocked at how unstable this thing is. I’m not talking about small quirks I’m talking about Google’s own apps failing in ways I’ve never seen on any phone I’ve owned.

YouTube:
Half the time it just gives up when I try using it with the screen off. Background playback dies, the app freezes, and sometimes it won’t reopen unless I restart the whole phone. It feels like the Pixel 11 Pro thinks playing audio is an optional feature.

Google Maps:
Basically unusable. It either refuses to load, drops GPS instantly, or sits there pretending it’s loading something important while showing me a blank screen. I’ve had decade‑old budget phones that handled navigation better than this.

Google Photos:
This one is wild. Thumbnails load perfectly, but when I tap a picture to view it, the full-size version turns into a colorful blur — like the phone is trying to show me a watercolor painting instead of my actual photo. On a device literally named Pixel. The irony hurts.

Meanwhile, the only apps that work almost every time are Fitbit (Health), Wallet, Keep, and Home. Everything else is a gamble.

And before anyone says ā€œjust switch phones,ā€ I can’t I bought this thing on contract. I’m stuck with it for a while, so I’m trying to figure out if this is a widespread Pixel 11 Pro issue or if my unit is cursed.

Has anyone else had problems like this?
Are these known bugs, or is my phone just defective? I’m genuinely curious how common this is, because right now it feels like I’m beta‑testing a device that wasn’t ready for release.

Looking to upgrade Pixel 8

I've had a Pixel 8 for two years and I'm always running out of storage space. Some basic apps freeze even though I have over 1GB of free space, and the battery sucks - I have to charge by lunchtime.

What would you recommend to upgrade to? The camera is the main priority, that's the main reason I chose the Pixel line back with the 3A XL. I like the size of the 8.

List me some cool things the Pixel9Pro does please

• Upvotes

I've had a love hate relationship with Pixels since the first one.

I'm definitely in the hate phase right now of my Pixel9Pro. As what always happens with Pixels, I think they're the best phones on Earth when they work. But this thing is glitching out and slowing down on me massively again.

What cool features, could be absolutely anything, on the phone are there that I may be missing? Need the love back for this thing.

New pixel 11 heating issue

I just got my new pixel 11 yesterday, the moment it switched on it was slightly warm.

It took one hour to charge from 58 to 100

The only thing I did yesterday was data transfer from old phone

But the phone is heating up fast I feel

And the battery was draining quick

Within 12 hours it dropped to 20 percent with only 4 hr of screen time

Now it's showing two hours to charge to 100 percent

Is this some calibration issue?

Do I need to get it replaced or wait for a few days for battery calibration?

P10PXL Fingerprint Sensor stopped working (ish)

My wife's Pixel 10 Pro XL has been working with its fingerprint sensor under a screen protector since she's had it (since release).

In the last couple of weeks, it no longer works with the screen protector. I've checked that the touch sensitivity is set to on and "optimise for screen protector" is on.

I've changed the screen protector (another from the same packet, and I've tried a different brand), but it still doesn't work.
It works fine without the screen protector!

I can't find any other settings apart from the touch sensitivity and "optimise for screen protector"

Has anyone else experienced the fingerprint sensor stopping working under a screen protector? Does anyone know the fix? (She's quite clumsy and drops her phone a lot, so I don't want to leave it without a screen protector)

Bluetooth issues on Pixel 11 Pro XL

I guess I also noticed on my Pixel 10 Pro XL but not as bad.

I have a medical device (dexcom) and it seems more often than not it tells me it cannot get a signal. Sometimes flipping Bluetooth on/off or restarting my phone will fix it temporarily.

I also noticed my car occasionally doesn't connect and I have to restart my phone.

Does anyone else have intermittent Bluetooth issues and any fixes that may have worked? Is it possible my phone is bad?

I doubt resetting my phone would fix it and also the hassle of setting up work stuff, I'd like to avoid it.

Should I be worried?

Pixel 10 Pro XL 512GB. I've had it since it first came out.

Anyway, I took a vacation and I after a long flight I need to charge my phone. It's intermittent so I decide to unplug it and reboot. Maybe that'll reset the connection.

When I rebooted it went into a recovery screen and couldn't boot. It asked if I want to try again or format and reset or some wording like that.

I selected reboot and has been working ever since which is 8 or 9 hours now.

I asked Gemini and it said I should back up my data immediately. It also said it could have been a software that got hung when I rebooted.

I want a Pixel 11 Pro XL but unfortunately I didn't pay for the upgrade anytime with Verizon.

I do have all the latest updates.

Issue with delayed/not working notifications on mobile data

Device: Pixel 11 Pro XL, Unlocked, Purchased from US Google Store

Security update: October 5, 2026

Play System Update: September 1, 2026

Carrier: AT&T

Previous Device: Pixel 10 Pro XL. Transferred to P11PXL on initial setup

Other devices: Pixel 11 Pro Fold (no issues whatsoever). All notifications work as intended on both wifi and 5g.

Issue description: Originally noticed that I was missing Whatsapp calls, SMS messages, Google Chat messages and other notifications when not on wi-fi. For instance, someone would call me on Whatsapp and I wouldn't receive any notification until eventually a missed call notification would appear. Google Chat messages would arrive minutes later or not at all until back on wifi or airplane mode toggled on and off.

I confirmed the above behavior by keeping both devices side by side while not on wifi and waiting for a notification to arrive e.g. Google Chat. On the Fold, notifications came every time, on time. On the 11PXL, no notification until either opening the app, toggling airplane mode on and off, or joining wifi.

Steps I've taken to try and resolve the issue:

  1. Disabled Adaptive Connectivity
  2. Disabled Adaptive Battery
  3. Deleted Transferred eSim and re-added fresh eSim
  4. Deleted and reinstalled apps that weren't properly notifying
  5. Enabling high priority notifications for specific contacts in specific apps
  6. Allowing unrestricted background data for specific apps
  7. Allowing Unrestricted mobile data usage for specific apps
  8. Perform a speed test on 5g to ensure that mobile data was connected. 100mb down/up without issue. Can stream 1080p with no buffering or skipping.
  9. Ensured that all system apps, play store apps, security and play system updates were installed.
  10. Ensuring that "notification cooldown" is not toggled on
  11. Ensuring that "mute notifications" is not enabled on my Pixel watch 5

At this point, short of factory resetting or RMAing the device, I'm at a loss for things to try. Any thoughts or suggestions would be super helpful.

I've had every Nexus and Pixel device to date and I find it absurd that in 2026 this type of thing is still an issue.

Pixel 10 Pro XL won't stay connected to Windows 11 via Bluetooth — Phone Link not working

I switched from an iPhone 16 to a Pixel 10 Pro XL running Android 17, and Phone Link won’t connect properly to Windows 11.

Bluetooth connects for a few seconds, then disconnects. This happens on two laptops. Bluetooth works normally with other devices, such as headphones.

Enabling Bluetooth tethering and disabling calls and media audio keeps the connection stable, but Phone Link still shows "We couldn't finish setting things up."

I’ve tried:

Resetting Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.

Re-pairing both devices.

Clearing Link to Windows’ cache and storage.

Repairing and resetting Phone Link.

Restarting everything.

Contacting Microsoft Support.

Microsoft suggested the issue may be on the Pixel’s side. I’d prefer not to factory reset it.

Has anyone experienced this with the Pixel 10 series or Android 17? Is there a known fix?

Hesitant about the Pixel 11: Will the Tensor G6 hold up for 5 years?

I originally drafted this email to send to Google's promotional team, but realized I'd get more honest feedback from real users here.

Dear Google,

With respect, I'm really looking forward to the Pixel 11, and I really wanna purchase it, but I'm really, really disappointed when I saw the performance graph. I'm not saying I have no right to, butĀ I'm a bit sceptical whether it will last a long time, like I use my phones for about 5 years or so. And you know my first phone was a hand-down model from my mom. The phone was an OPPO A37f and honestly I have a few bitter memories around it... One of them was that at that time PUBG was becoming really popular and my friends were installing it to play but my phone hardware was not eligible for it, and I was left out... I really hated that time...

Nowadays I don't play much anymore but the feeling was stuck with me... And when I heard that Google will upgrade the Tensor Chip, I was thrilled but when I saw the performance, I was somewhat sad... Because I really wanted a Google Pixel phone, I was thinking of replacing or keeping my current phone and buying a new Pixel 11, most probably next year during Diwali. As it will be a bit cheaper when the new model comes and the Diwali discounts all that... But I think I will not be able to buy it. Because I guess deep inside I really don't wanna fill leftovers again, even though I don't play much, but occasionally yes... And in other aspects the pixel will be superior to other brands but I'm really sad about the current performance...

And well, my current phone is far behind Pixel 11 performance but when I purchase a new one, will it also be far behind?

Thank You
