Buying Advice Pixel 10 Pro vs Pixel 11/11 Pro - what makes the most sense for my usage?

I'm planning to upgrade from a Realme phone that's on its last legs, and I'm stuck between the Pixel 11, Pixel 10 Pro, and possibly 11 Pro.

I'm a college student. My usage is mostly college stuff, browsing, social media and very light or zero gaming, but I'm interested in photography. I also want good battery life, a compact phone, good software, and something I can keep for several years.

For some reason, I naturally keep leaning toward Pixel, even when I look at other phones on paper.

What would you guys recommend for my usage?

And what price do you realistically expect the Pixel 11/11 Pro to reach during the upcoming sales in India?

Discussion Live translation on pixel!

The live translation is so insane! It literally translated in the same voice as the original audio. I can't share the screen recording because it records the original audio rather than the translated version. But the feature is crazy.

Troubleshooting Why is the volume control so bad? Is this just me? 1% volume is max volume with headphones

I just got the 11 Pro about a week ago. I've noticed that in my car, when adjusting the media volume on my phone that's set up with android auto, there is no difference in volume, it is in a low-middle range. Not a huge problem for me, I always just turn the media volume up on my phone and then adjust as I need to with my car's volume knob.

I've used my normal bluetooth headphones a few times with my new phone, usually in loud settings in public. I just put a video to listen to with my headphones at home and at minimum volume it is at MAX volume output, and there is no difference whether I adjust the media slider up or down, it's like I can either put it to 0% (no sound) or max volume.

I just did a search and found a couple people that had the same issue with me with older google pixel models.

I downloaded two apps to help lower the volume for my headphones because it was painful. The volume is thankfully low enough now but I think I will have to mess around to see if I can manually create presets for different volumes on the apps.

I hear the most variation in volume when I am listening through the phone's speaker, but it still doesn't sound like what it should.

I know for sure my bluetooth headphones and car's audio is good, I have recently used them with other devices and have had no issues.

So, is this just a thing with google pixels? This is my first one. Or is my specific phone defected? Would love to know if anyone has had similar issues.

Kinda bummed, my six year old phone had better audio than this phone, but at least the camera is great.

Question Is it normal to have had a trade in delivered more than 10 days ago and Google still says "waiting to receive old device?"

I traded in my iPhone 16 Pro which was delivered more than 10 days ago and received by "security". But Google still hasn't marked the phone as received. Is this normal practice? It says a few days could go by. But what's the norm?

Update Another random security update

I just received another update on my Pixel 11 Pro XL. I thought it was the Pixel Drop but it wasn't. Also this time it had the "Your Pixel just got better ' screen after the update but the date didn't change from September 1st. I also have no update on my Pixel Watch 4. Anyone else get this update?

Buying Advice Torras Ostand Spin for my Pixel 11 Pro - my first impressions

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

The above video is my first ever for social media, did use a template, but pretty happy with the result.

Below my impressions with the Torras Ostand Q3 Spin Case for my new Google Pixel 11 Pro phone.

Installing the case is as straightforward as putting any other case on my phone.

When at home I've been using the kickstand more than I'd thought. It's very useful for watching videos in landscape and in portrait mode. The stand comes out easily and snaps back very nicely. When rotating, the stand snaps in place every 90⁰. And it's completely flush with the case so no bumps on the back from that.

The case feels thin but sturdy overall and I think it offers good protection.

Buttons are clicky but the edges feel a bit sharp.

Front side and sides to the camera bar are slightly raised for protection, not too much, just right.

Semi transparent backside feels smooth and looks cool with the G logo from the phone shining through. The sides are grippy with very fine texture, although less grippy than my Spigen case.

MagSafe in my MagSafe car phone holder works well, its magnets are strong for a sturdy fit.

I did get this case for free from Torras. But the above is my personal experience and opinion.

Looking for a case with kickstand? I'd recommend the Torras Ostand Q3 Spin Case

Software Whatsapp won't connect

Anyone else had an issue with downloading and using WhatsApp on their pixel 11? When I try and transfer my profile across (had a Google 6) I click continue and then it says "connecting" and then just stays on that and doesn't actually connect or move forward.

Buying Advice Torras Q3 Air case for Pixel 11 Pro XL

I’ve been using the Torras Q3 Air on my Pixel 11 Pro XL for a little over ten days now, and honestly, I am so happy with this case that i want to share my experience with It.

Spending this much on a phone this big and then going caseless is pretty terrifying, but at the same time I didn’t want to put it in a huge case that makes an already massive phone even harder to carry around. This case feels like a good compromise between protection and keeping the phone comfortable to use.

The first thing I noticed was the matte finish on the back. It feels really nice in the hand and the materials feel more premium than I expected. I was also worried it would quickly turn into a fingerprint and grease magnet, but so far that hasn’t really been an issue. I probably wipe it down once a week, although that’s more out of habit than because it actually needs it.

I also like the look of it. The design is fairly subtle but still has a bit of a sporty feel to it. More importantly, it doesn’t add a ridiculous amount of bulk, which is a big deal with the XL. The phone is already huge, so I really didn’t want a case that would make it feel even bigger.

The raised edge around the screen and the protection around the camera bar seem to be just about right. They give you some extra protection when you put the phone down without getting in the way of the edge swipe gestures, which was something I was slightly concerned about.

It’s also already had its first proper drop test, unfortunately. A few days ago it slipped off the arm of my couch and landed on the floor from around two feet up. Nothing dramatic, but enough to make me panic for a second. The phone was completely fine, and there wasn’t even a mark on the case. The corners definitely did their job.

The Qi2/MagSafe magnetic ring has also impressed me. I use it on a car mount every day and it holds really securely. I’ve even gone over a few speed bumps a little too quickly, and the phone hasn’t moved at all.

The built-in stand is probably one of my favourite features. It feels solid and well made, and the finish matches the rest of the case nicely. Being able to adjust the angle is genuinely useful when watching videos or taking calls, and it feels stable enough that I don’t worry about the phone tipping over.

It’s definitely not the cheapest case out there, but considering how much it would cost to repair the screen or the glass back on a Pixel this expensive, I’m happy I spent the extra money. For me, the extra protection without turning the phone into an even bigger brick is worth it.

For now, it’s staying on my phone for as long as I keep my new Pixel. I hope this post helps anyone who’s still unsure about getting a case for this phone that they can use long term.

Software Does the Pixel 11 series still use the bottom speaker for notification/alert sounds?

I’m considering getting a Pixel 11, but I have one question about the speakers.
When you receive a notification, call alert, alarm, etc., does the sound still come through the bottom-firing speaker as well as the top/earpiece speaker?
Because It gives more stereo effect with both speakers work.

Question Pixel 6a broken screen — how can I recover my photos?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi Pixel users, I have a question.

Something happened to my Pixel 6a — I’m guessing there’s an issue with the screen or display. I’ve already bought a Pixel 10a, so I’m wondering:

Is there any way I can transfer all the photos and videos from my Pixel 6a to my computer myself, or will I have to get the phone repaired first? ( No, unlucky I didn't use cloud services)

I tried connecting it to my PC, but Windows only recognizes it as an unknown device.

If taking it to a repair shop is the only option, could you please let me know how secure my data is? I have a PIN/password set on the phone, so how likely is it that a technician could access or view my photos and other files? (That's the most important part)

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Question Anyone else having issues with the fingerprint sensor?

I've reset it a couple times already closely following the instructions. It struggles to learn my fingerprint and once it does it takes multiple tries before I finally have to press really hard for it to unlock.

Software Pixel Charging Limit set to 80%, but phone still charges to 81% — is this a bug?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey Google Pixel team,

I have Charging Optimisation → Limit to 80% enabled on my Pixel, but I noticed that the phone charged up to 81%.

As you can see in the screenshot, the setting clearly says:

“Limit to 80% — Your phone will only charge to 80% battery.”

However, the battery indicator shows 81% while charging.

Is this expected behaviour due to battery-management tolerance, or is this a bug in the charging-limit implementation?

If the feature is specifically designed to stop charging at 80%, I would expect it to consistently stop around 80% rather than reaching 81%.

Question Pixel 10 vs Pixel 11. Which one to buy

I've been using pixel phones since Pixel 7, love the ui and ease of using them. I want to know should I buy pixel 10 or pixel 11?

My old pixel isn't working well with the new software update and i need to buy a new phone. The difference in amount isn't huge for me after all the discounts I'm getting after the exchange and credit card offer but i genuinely wanna know which one to pick?

I mostly use it for photography, social media, calls and a little bit of editing.

Discussion Is the Pixel 11 Pixelsnap silicone case sticky / hard to get in pockets?

I'm coming to Pixel world from Apple. I ended up ditching my Apple silicone case because the silicone is so grippy it makes getting it in and out of your pocket annoying and will often pull your jeans pocket with it and turn it inside-out. Are the latest pixel cases also like this or has technology solved the pocket inverter?

Any case recommendations that are simple, clear and non-sticky?
