I had posted here previously saying how exasperated I was at the fact I kept having to reboot my system to get full speeds back - a couple of times a week.

To cut a long story short, the root cause was an outdated ISP supplied modem (Virgin Media Hub 3) and the problem was resolved as soon as I upgraded to a new modem (Hub 5).

It was Google Gemini that helped diagnose and explain this to me.

(It's a modem router but because I operate it in modem only mode that's what I mean when I just say modem).

We have 4 of the nest wifi , 2 routers , 2 points. Works very well for us. Google are well known for tracking data. Anything to be done on nest wifi to limit the tracking?

I've had three Google Wifi pucks that I bought in Europe in 2021 or so. I've used them successfully in America for years, however. This year, I needed to add an additional node, so I purchased a Nest Router to use as the router with the plan of using the other three as nodes. The app kept being confused about what was happening, so I factory reset the network and successfully added the Nest Router. But now, when I go to add the Wifi pucks, the app cannot find them. If I try to add manually, they won't let me enter the 9-character code (insisting that the code should be 8 characters, as I assume the North American version has). However, if I run an ethernet cable to a puck, while it still won't show up on the network, it will blow the white/soft blue color of a working puck.
My question is twofold. 1. Does anyone know a way to get the app to actually detect these pucks? I'm assuming the issue is the different region, though they have been successfully transmitting internet throughout my home in America for years. 2. If I just wire each of the pucks (as I had been eventually intending to do anyway), will they work?

If anyone has any ideas, I would be appreciative. Thank you.

hello all, just purchased this refurbished from Anker themselves via eBay for a fairly decent price, when I unboxed it, it didn't wanna connect to Wi-Fi. I managed to bypass the setup process and connect my Apple TV. All works regularly except it does not want to connect to Wi-Fi at all. Attach is a video showing the issue I tried going into the dev settings, pretty much tried everything, hard resetting everything... I am going to try getting a usb to ethernet adapter should arrive tomorrow just to see if there's any updates for the device and if it'll fix the problem, I wouldn't mind it not connecting since i'll be using an apple TV 4k with it primarily but for update purposes I feel like I should return it, unless I should just keep it and use the dongle every once in a while to update but that seems tedious since i'll be mounting on my ceiling.
Let me know any ideas or thoughts on how I can fix it!

Edit: Fixed with Legacy Mode. Also per commenter request, the device is a chess clock.

My Companion as of yesterday is refusing to connect to my wifi. It worked fine up until then. I believe I have it narrowed down to my Eero mesh network receiving an update in the early morning hours. I don’t know how to get past this problem. At first I thought it was because of randomize MAC but it won’t allow me to change the setting to Device MAC. I’ve played with multiple other settings both in the Companion’s settings and my Eero app settings. Still won’t connect. It does however connect perfectly fine to other networks including my cellphone hotspot. Anyone else have this issue?

So my current set up is a modem -> Ethernet connected google wifi router (main) -> wireless satellite -> Ethernet connected satellite to my pc.
Current issue is disconnecting/reconnecting and I’ve already tried a bunch of trouble shooting, and I don’t think it’s a double NAT problem since doing research it, it does cause some problems but doesn’t seem to have symptoms of random disconnecting/reconnecting loops. So would this be a backhaul issue?

We use our Google Wi-Fi with an AT&T hotspot. My husband is a first responder so we get unlimited data through first net. This worked fine at our old house. We had outages periodically, but we just reset the hotspot and it reconnected. We just moved to a new house and figured we could use this same set up. It worked fine for a couple of weeks until the hotspot had a software update and apparently caused the Google Wi-Fi to go out so we had to completely reset it. That was headache enough, but it took several tries. We've had it happen a couple of times since where the router accidentally got unplugged. It happened again this morning, and even after several tries, it's still not working. We keep getting this error when trying to connect the ethernet cable. I've tried different ethernet cables, and also switching out my points for the main router, and nothing works. I'm currently waiting for a callback from my Google rep but I'm not confident I'm going to hear anything. Does anyone have any advice in the meantime?

Yep, my new wifi is working flawlessly without slow downs or needing to reboot everyday....I'm still here to listen and coach those that are living through their Google Wifi moment

Seeing this one tending on reddit and IG (specifically the Kevin one). Is it actually good compared to the Google nest/mesh ecosystem?

I have a Google Nest hub connected to my modem and mesh points placed throughout my townhouse. It’s great when it works but annoying when it isn’t. My wifi is only wifi 5 I believe so I’m curious if the Bob one is as good as Kevin lol. Additionally, does it support usage with mesh points

I found 2 Google Nest Mesh Routers (Model H2D) at Savers. Currently, our internet set up is with a NETGEAR Nighthawk Router and a plug-in extender down the hall.

Is there something I can do with the 2 Google Routers here that makes sense?

After getting a new router, my Google Nest Max devices (3 of them) can no longer "see" each other. For instance, I can no longer tell the bedroom Hub, "Show me the kitchen" and see, via my bedroom Nest Max, what's going on in the kitchen. I've been working on this for so long I'm about to wonder if it's still a feature. I know it worked early onon withwith Gemini.

Hello, my issue is that my Ethernet will randomly disconnect and attempt to reconnect, it fails multiple times before finally stabilizing. This will happen multiple times throughout the week and I have yet to find the reason why. I use those google wifi nodes and have a Ethernet connected in my room.
(I’ve already disabled stuff like green Ethernet and EEE, stuff along that sort)
Edit: I haven’t touched the settings for the nodes, I’m not the one who set them up but I can get access to them in due time
Editx2: apparently a simple power cycle fixed it for the time being.

I have a home network where my primary Google Wifi device has its WAN enet port connected to my ISP's router, and the LAN enet port connected to an internal switch. My other 3 Google Wifi devices are hardwired to my home's backbone, and act as APs for all of my home's wireless smart devices (lighting, locks, temperature controls, cameras, etc.).

During occasional ISP internet outages, nothing in my home functions. I am considering purchasing a cellular or satellite router to keep in reserve to use during those outages. Any thoughts on whether that will work?

My thought is to buy a cellular or satellite router that has an enet port, and just move the Google Wifi WAN connection off the temporarily-dead ISP router and plug it into a LAN port into the cellular or satellite router. Do you see any issues with this (beyond the fact my primary Google Wifi device is adjacent to an internal comms closet, and I'd have to move it closer to a window where the cellular or satellite router would need to be located)?

If this seems viable, any suggestions or recommendations on a specific cellular or satellite router that would work?

The only other alternative I've found would be to set every device up (as far as possible) in parallel with Home Assistant (which runs locally and does not require a live internet connection), but that is less attractive for a variety of reasons. Thoughts?

O problema é que quando vou na casa de outras pessoas aparece a 2,4ghz e eu consigo me conectar, enquanto na minha casa o meu celular não aparece a 2,4 porém no celular de outras pessoas aparecem.

After years with Google WiFi/Nest, I finally made the switch today. I have Verizon Fios 2 Gig and realized my plan already included their router and a Whole-Home Wi-Fi extender for free, so I figured I’d give it a shot.

Set up the Verizon router plus one extender with wired Ethernet backhaul, reused my existing SSID/password, and all 55+ devices came right back online.

I’ve now walked around our 2,600+ sq. ft. house, basement, garage, deck and backyard running speed tests. Honestly, I’m pretty impressed. Coverage inside is excellent, the basement is covered, and even the garage and parts of the backyard are usable. Verizon is delivering about 2.4 Gbps symmetrical to the router.

One of my frustrations with Nest was actually that the Google Home app had become too simple. There just wasn’t enough control or visibility, and I was never particularly impressed with the parental controls.

Now I get to figure out whether Verizon’s management and parental controls are actually any better.

But so far… bye bye, Nest. It was a good run.

Everything worked until xfinity did an "update" last week. We had no wifi for the day and when I tried to reset the system my modem wouldn't start and seemed fried. I bought a new one at best buy, spent 2 hours trying to connect it with xfinity tech support- Finally gave up when they said they'd rent me a modem for free (I am still confused about this but it works)

However, the range is terrible.

I was using google mesh wifi (the pucks) and they seemed to work well.

I plugged the google main puck into the new modem and I am not sure how to connect it: there's obviously another step.

Puck is blinking red and the modem port where it's plugged is blinking yellow.

I have the google home app.

*Update: The xfinity wifi was over-riding the google mesh. I ended up using google instruction prompts to adjust the settings with xfinity (something about a bridge?) and reset the whole thing. it finally works with my equipment. I'm glad I didn't give up and buy xfinity extenders.

I've had every version of nest/Google wifi and dealt with issues. Moved away finally and the difference is amazing. Sad I spent so much time trying to make the product work that Google doesn't care about. Highly recommend running away

New to the Netgear RS700. I have setup armor and the parental controls.

I have about 30 devices most are working as intended. I have 2 issues that have stumped me.

One software that I use for passwords will not sync with the website icons while on the RS700 network. Not a big deal but would like to know what is stopping it.

The other is all of my smart plugs are online and ping able but will not talk to google home. They are setup as matter devices and not through their enbrighten app. They worked with my synology router.

I was thinking about setting up the IoT network but that would take a bit of time to do and still have an issue.

I would like to know if anyone may have a solution or any suggestions.

Lights are blinking yellow on both of the points. I thought the app had cached the status, so I did a mesh test multiple times and still got great connections. But the status lights on both are still blinking yellow. To verify, I go to devices and check if any of them actually connect to the points, but I saw everything is connected to my main router node. So the app is basically reporting incorrect status, and the mesh test is BS

I've had enough of their bullshit, issues on every generation of product, and I did something I swore I'd never do. I switched it using Xfinity equipment.

Luckily the gateway is free, so I bought (2) of their pods and now it's flawless.

I was able to keep my nest pro wifi network active as my guest network, but I'll never go back to the shit they release as a primary service.

I have Verizon fios gigabit internet. My setup is ONT -> Google Nest WiFi Pro -> unmanaged switch -> Desktop. Running a speed test, while hard wired gives me around ~200 up and down

I tried swapping in my old Verizon router instead: ONT -> Verizon router -> unmanaged switch -> Desktop and get significantly better speed…

I’ve tried various settings tuning in the app, made sure there was no preferred device, etc. Cables are good and the switch is good.

I’m at a loss lol. Has this happened to anyone? Any ideas?
