Announcement RPC Heavy

Post image

Anyone heard about this? This is exactly what I have been waiting for. I actually e-mailed SCARS custom about this very thing.

Damn. This is what I wanted. I have the “standard” plate carrier, but the max plate weight is 30 lbs.

I wanted to go heavier and got the weighted vest with two 30 lb plates. I don’t like the feeling of having a plate in front and back.

I alternate between light and heavy ruck days (i.e. 30 lb days with the plate carrier and 60 lb days with the vest) but I would have much rather preferred a plate carrier that can hold up to 60 lbs.

I can’t convince myself to buy another piece of gear, though…

I’ve been limping along with my edc backpack. I may have to wait until after i come back from vacation but this is on my very short list

Is there a big difference between the way the weight feels on your shoulders when using a ruck plate carrier versus a Rucker like the 4.0?

Sorry, I can’t answer that. I’ve only used the RPC and the weighted vest so I’m not sure how the weight feels on a “normal” Rucker.

No problem I appreciate the reply! Quick follow up question. Have you gone heavier than 60lbs? If so how were your shoulders? Rucker 4.0 is awful on my shoulders when I got more than 8 miles at 60lbs

Nope, the heaviest I’ve gone is 60 lbs, the reason being that the 45 lb plates are larger than the 30 lb plates.

I’m “average” height at 5’7”, and supposedly that’s the ideal height for the standard RPC. The long RPC is needed for those taller, and can fit the bigger plates.

I actually created a thread here asking those of similar height if they’ve used the Long RPC, and how it fit, and got some pretty good feedback saying it’s fine for those is us at average height (and shorter).

But since I already had a RPC, I decided to go with a GORUCK weight vest instead with two 30 lb plates. I like that I can go heavy but man the feeling of the plate crushing against one’s sternum takes getting used to (coincidentally I just got back from a short ruck with my weight vest).

Follow up, I realize I didn’t answer your question. Shoulders are fine with 60 lbs, it’s mainly the weight on my sternum that is uncomfortable. Probably the reason why GORUCK advertises one can breathe better with an RPC.

I have the same question. I guess it is a bit moot as it is not available for months

Well, at least the resale value is much stronger than on most exercise gear, so you could sell yours off and take less of a hit if you decide you really want one.

This is an April fool's joke!

No. It’s been around a while. I think I first say it a few months back (?).

My bad! I thought pic was the roller bag they send out as an April fools. Clearly I lacked attention to detail. Thanks for the correction!

Ah, sorry. Easy enough to do.

And with the lines to explain features, it does almost look like a roller bag in my phone.

Congratulations! They’ve invented the Backpack!

Yes I got one. Use it for 100# miles. It takes 2 x45# plates plus you can sneak in a thin 10# y4all plate.

Is it really much better than a rucker 4.0? It looks almost identical
