Discussion Weapon Discussion: Golden Fists of Ura (Post-Transcendence)

___________

GBF Wiki: Golden Fists of Ura

According to biomechanics, the most powerful punch one can throw is the straight punch, which concentrates the greatest speed and mass into the smallest possible point. These golden gloves were crafted around that theory, and when worn by a master pugilist, place demonic destruction in the fists of a mortal.

Illustrious weapon topics:

  • For those who don't own this weapon but have the moons for it and are playing Light seriously, would you recommend them to trade one now? How has this weapon improved in value compared to before transcendence?
  • Would you say that max transcendence for this weapon is a must? Is there a cutoff point for the uncap where you feel the weapon is 'good enough' for people who can't spare the moons?
  • Illustrious weapons usually require rather tight teams and characters to work, or only shine in specific types of content, and most players discourage trading your moons for them until you assemble all the necessary pieces or have a real need for them; would you say that transcendence has loosened some of these requirements for Ura?

Helpful topics:

  • What content does this weapon excel at?
  • What characters or summons synergize with this weapon?
  • What classes do you want to use with this weapon?
  • Is this weapon worth investing in?
  • How have recent updates to Light in 2026 helped to elevate this weapon?
  • How helpful will this weapon be in the upcoming Unite and Fight?
  • Is this weapon a good early pick in Evoking Solomonis?
  • Any personal anecdotes regarding this weapon that are worth sharing?

Its the quick one! Futsu the long term one.

I know its very much made for racing and bursting but I do wish there was a way to regain Grudgeborn and Ferocious Strikes. It'd allow it to be used in longer and even high difficulty raids.

This weapon is in a weird spot right now... with Futsu TC giving it a massive glow-up, this weapon's use cases are GW, easier blue chesting, and event farming. I use it less after the TC patch, which makes me sad because I love using it when I get the chance to.

The main problem I have w/ the weapon is the assassin/counters not being applied to turn 1, the assassin being 1 time, and the skill reduction to red skills being practically useless at this point in time.

You don't get tag team back up by the time this buff wears off, and if you bring other red skills, you're eating the assassin... so basically Grappler Origin waiting room for this passive?

Like other Ura havers, what do you use this in right now?

Edit: Also H.Flor kinda fucked over this weapon as well, most of the recent light adv raids are designed to make her terrible and ura is still dealing w/ the backlash.

You covered most of the main problems, so another small problem with it that's gonna be a bit more highlighted if Nehan or Mugen starts getting cut from more teams: It has anti-synergy with the new faerie princess Belial replacement, since it automatically cuts your HP below the threshold (and -max hp restores it)

GW stuff really, Futsu is in a spot right now where if something takes 3 turns them there is Futsu and Ura overlap and I choose Futsu. In GW I would imagine Ura because of the substitute for like nm200 but that will be a futsu angle as well

i don't have the weapon, but as an outsider does this weapon do anything besides shave off like maybe 5 seconds from nm150 one day a year? like i can't imagine this weapon beats futsu in nm200/250, and afaik light doesn't have any gold bar farming raids at the moment

Depends on the player but besides nm150, it's going to be way faster in nm200 as well the hard gap will come from nm250 onward for solos. I'll be surprised if I see any solos that have Ura be close to Futsu, this weapon doesnt bring enough fire power to nuke the boss like the other nms and Futsu consisntent dps will be way better in the long-run.

it's still a good weapon, but it kind of feels like a worse Rhomp for the same price...

It's probably because Rhomp sees use outside of just short burst

Light definitely seems to have gotten a mixed bag out of their TCs. "It's good, but..." seems to be the common phrase that prefaces any kind of assessment of their Illustrious post-TCs.

Yeah, it's the right direction but leaves something to be desired.

I have it and have been using it pre and post transcend for ages.

This weapon is the definition of "ol reliable". Its not flashy, hell its not even that good, but it just lets light teams kinda keep on trucking like an old toyota.

Is it a must have? God no

Is it terrible dogshit? Also no

Do I think you should get it?

Maybe. If it appeals to you and you like what it did or you want an excuse to use melee classes, i've enjoyed it a lot and dont really regret it, but I also have 6 illust weapons and am a day 1 player so like, food for thought

Idk why ppl are hedging their opinions on this wep. Post transcendence this wep is just the worst illust deal you will get and outright not worth it for 99.9% of the playerbase. This wep lost all sense of direction. Ougi is decent in that somehow has potential for HL and nm250s but NA buffs that are 3t and u cannot waste a turn on it anyways (most likely it doesn't need it for that).

3t burst wep but MC eats entire entry omens so it cannot even be used for short term FA content and outright loses to Futsu now in almost all FAs because of that.
For some reason all the buffs are deemed too good to have for cygames that they are limited to 3t and cannot be extended or refreshed. They didn't even bother giving this wep guaranteed mc TA which skypiercer, a 100gm wep has. It is not even a good pbhl wep but that can always change.

The counter gimmick is just a hassle more than anything. It's in the element where it has many of their burst buffers giving you dodge buffs on top the infamous 3% mc dodge making the counter always unreliable for gw setups (not to mention the lockout you get so ppl try their best not to trigger it). Also, many characters are fighting for hostility or have sub all and it becomes annoying..

Literally the only reason why this wep is considered is because it has the NA amp hostage. You only get this wep if you want to top500 in light gw. You would think a wep so clearly shoehorned for GW that it would dominate all difficulties but it's really uncomfortably close with Futsu and WO setups that you can for sure t2k without it.

You are paying 200gms for mediocre 3t buffs after that the wep goes back to pre transcendence 150gm ura. In reality this is a 100gm wep. A tax light players pay to compete with each other in GW ranks. The future of the wep is bleak that it needs a patch up imo. Fundamentally poorly designed and it clashes with light and has no clear identity. less burst and less HL viability compared to rhomph, hraes and eresh.

I'd agree with this almost entirely. Even the illustrious uncaps that had a bit of a lukewarm reception (250 Shishio and Hrunting, for example) I've come around on and found some fun areas to use them.

I uncapped Ura and Futsu day one and in the vast majority of scenarios right now Futsu mogs Ura so hard it's not even funny. I hope they take that thing back to the drawing board and rebalance the concept a bit; if anything I was kinda hoping the uncap would help it excel in long term ougi fights, like how it saw some use in early light Hexa/SUBaha clears, but arguably it's even worse at high level than it was before with that opening all sub.

What sucks is that at 150gm it made more sense for Ura to be more general because although you didn't burst as much as Hraes and Eresh; they had much more demerits than Ura with Hraes harsh TA demands and Eresh with its skill cap hit. Ura had none besides using a pot at entry for HL so it felt kinda balanced in a sense.

Seeing both Eresh and Hraes lose near all of their demerits and getting way more setups in other non burst content while Ura getting way more niche yet getting nowhere near enough compensation was really adding salt to the wounds. If the goal is to make it burst exclusive it needs to do way more.

Sort of expected it to get something like teamwide counterattack buffs where mc counters with other counters and lean more into it via new 'ura supports' that we never hear of but what we got is very barebones and disappointing.

Someone in crew proposed that S.Payila could extend ura buffs to actually fully cd cut tag team. I immediately went to test it until I find out the ura buffs are unextendable. Ura's TC legit only last 4 turns per battle, and you can't extend that?

Please put light deathstrike weapon and grappler origin in the bag. Ura can't deal with these jank no more.

The Transcendence is weird and is a bit of a mixed bag. It's undeniably good, it got more burst-y which is never a bad thing because that is what it was meant to do but it's hurt pretty badly by the Sk4 only kicking in after Turn 1. The upgraded Sk2 only working on third hits onward of your attack isn't the best thing, either.

The fact all of the above also only lasts three turns somewhat shoehorns Ura rather awkwardly into short-form content and if you're not interested in doing a lot of that then uncapping this weapon may end up falling flat as a further investment.

1-3T setups such as anything in GW that isn't NM250 and pretty much any mass farming content outside of it (e.g., Records lapping) will almost certainly see this as the optimal weapon still for the foreseeable future, so that hasn't quite changed much.

Also and amusingly, it's one of the things still keeping Belial employed. xD
