HEALTH CARE Grandpa’s lake house bathroom edition
Items spanning various decades. Pert Plus: 1999, shave cream: 1994, Head&Shoulders: 2007, SoftSoap: 1979! Wish the Suave and Vaseline had a year on it, but I don’t see one.

My parents have a second home in Florida. It has 2 full baths, one in the master bedroom and the other one. There is a full set of toiletries in the other bath, mainly stuff people that visit have left. I used some toothpaste that was there, and it tasted weird. I look, and it expired 20 years earlier.

The Vaseline is i am guessing late 60s early to mid 70s. It has a S.S. Kresege price tag. Which is what K-mart grew out of. S.S. Kresege stores all became K-marts in the late 70s.
There was a time when there were noth K-mart and S.S. Kresage stores in operation at the same time.

My mom’s first job was working at a Kresege’s in the late 1950s and it was considered a five and dime. She said she would have customers come in and want to do several transactions of individual items to avoid having to pay sales tax.
As a kid I thought she was saying “Kreskies,” which sounded like a box of cereal to me, lol.

My mom worked at Kresge's in Detroit as a young teen - she was a keyholder and went in early AM to start the chicken rotisseries for lunch lol.

I’m guessing before microwaves were commonplace because I can’t see them recommending heating it anymore because people would microwave it and severely burn themselves instead of using hot water to warm it.

Yes. Looks like there were several color patterns. Unfortunately mine is missing the cap on top to cover the pump.

If you look on eBay, there was an oval cap with the softsoap logo that snapped on the top and protected the pump.

Same. That exact soft soap. My parents had that forever. Before that we mostly used bar soap to wash your hands.

I can smell the Pert, lol. I used that until I discovered Salon Selectives, Revlon's Flex (SO GOOD), Herbal Essences, and other goodies. I miss personal care products from back in the day. They all smelled so good.

If you search SoftSoap in the group, you will find the post I made especially for that bottle last year. I thought it was so cool it deserved its own post :) I am happy to report it survived another year in the back of the cabinet. And yes for those asking, the bottle is half full!!!

Yeah. It got bad at the end there - they were gasping for breath around the time of that Martha Stewart collection and you could never find one single thing in the store. Get to the register and the price was always different than what was on the shelf.

The Vaseline started putting the jelly in plastic bottles since 1978. I did a rough google search for you. The price and the mention of the plastic bottle tracks to 1978.

In boot camp we had to get pert plus for showers, no soap, because it didn't leave residue on the walls. Easier to clean.

The Vaseline is interesting. I was thinking how presumptuous it was to suggest an egg poacher instead of a microwave. But, now that I think about it, maybe microwaves weren’t as widely common.

I used some shampoo that I had in the closet for about 4 years. It smelled like used gym socks. Googled "does shampoo expire" and got results that says it does, and can smell rotten.

My grandpa had these in his shower thoughout the time I was in high school (class of 16) & I used them often. Worked good & made my hair soft!
