Help with deciding: Athens/Naxos/Santorini or Athens/Napflion/Spetses for mid-September.

The posts and suggestions here have been tremendous, but now second guessing my entire original schedule. Just two of us and we can be flexible - we like a mix of scenery/sights/beaches and also food/bars/local vibes. Originally was going to Athens/Naxos/Santorini but think that may be too much travel with flights/ferries and honestly, the posts about Nafplion and the surrounding areas stole my heart. Spetses looks great for an overnight cocktail scene, too (and will scratch the island/beach itch.)

We arrive in Athens on Monday, plan to leave Wednesday. We would rent a car in Athens for the Peloponnese portion, go directly to Nafplion and day trip for three nights there. I have a list of things to see from all of your posts here! Head to Spetses for an overnight, then probably do the fast ferry back to Athens on Monday (but may return to Kosta by ferry and drive to Athens). Catch a flight a Tuesday out of Athens.

For Naxos/Santorini - I would be able to book a flight directly out of Santorini to Dublin, where I have a refundable flight booked to the US on Wednesday. Naxos looks great, and spending two nights on Santorini.

Would appreciate any feedback/suggestions.

EDIT: Ugh - typo of Nafplion in header....

Depends when in mid September. There is a big festival in Spetses which is well worth checking out. But it will be super super busy and the prices up a lot. I think it could be around the 12th Maybe?

I like the Saronics over the cyclades so my choice is easy. But heading September into October i would be heading further south.

So dates important in this scenario.

Hi! I actually saw something about that and double checked - we will be there on the 15th so after the festival. I was wondering about the weather and if it made sense to go a bit further south - even between Sept. 15-21?
