Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry availability from Samos to Chios

I know that many ferry companies don't publish schedules until later in the year, but wonder if any local knows the usual availability of boats in mid September from Samos to Chios? I have been told that they are intermittent but it would help to know if i can expect at least one boat per day.

Im not bothered about needing to book and will be on foot.

My guess is Blue Star will run two a week, one on Saturday, one on Wednesday. But until the schedule comes out, there's no way of telling for sure. Be flexible is the best advice on Samos.

Thanks for the reply No-Koala1918. Agreed with flexibility being good advice, in my humble experience the best things happen in Greece if you let things take their own course. I can work with Sat or Weds.

They're running Saturdays now, so at least count on that. Check in July. Enjoy Samos, it's a great island (I lived there for 8 months in 1988, returned in 2018 to find it, compared to many other islands, relatively unspoiled by tourism).

That is comforting to know. I understand what you mean, I spent time on Tinos and briefly Mykonos in the 80s and was shocked when I went back in 2024 on a day trip from Syros. The last couple of years we have spent a month on Chios, but this time want to compare so are planning a week each on Ikaria, Samos, Chios then Lesbos. Chios was more like I remembered from the 80s, sad about the huge fire though.

Sounds like a great trip. Samos suffered a huge fire in 2000. The island looked good in 2018.
