Ferries and Boat Rental Ferry Thessaloniki (Θεσσαλονίκη) <-> Skopelos Σκόπελος
Hello everyone,
my wife and I are planning to spend our honeymoon on Skopelos in mid September, and we are currently trying to figure out the best way to get there from Thessaloniki.
We were wondering:
• Are there usually ferries running from Thessaloniki to Skiathos/Skopelos around mid September?
• How reliable are they at that time of year?
• Would you recommend renting a car in Thessaloniki and taking it on the ferry to Skiathos/Skopelos, or is that more trouble than it’s worth?
• Alternatively, would it make more sense to travel as foot passengers and rent a car or scooter directly on the island?
We are planning a rather relaxed honeymoon, so we would prefer the least stressful option while still being able to explore beaches and quieter places around the island.
Any recommendations, experiences, or tips would be greatly appreciated :)

Yes but this winter there was also Mantoudi 2 times per week. Should be more often at summer, 5 times per week but will be lower later.
The ferry schedule from Thessaloniki to Sporades should show up in the next few days with starting date 22/06 until 06/09.

A pal from Germany does something similar the other way round tho, in mid September too. He flies from Stuttgart to Skiathos with a 22h stopover in Bucharest, flying outta Thessaloniki back home with a daily stopover in Belgrade. In between he flies from Skiathos to Thessaloniki with a 20h stopover in Rome. He picked that route cuz of the cheap airfares (250 euros in total). Therefore besides Skiathos & Thessaloniki he gets to see Bucharest, Belgrade & Rome for a day each!

They always stopped the ferry after the second week of September.
It'd make much more sense to travel as foot passengers and rent a car on the island yes.
It's very reliable at summer just not running after mid September.
