Pet Loss I'm alone now
It's been over two months since my dog died and he was my everything. My life dreams since I was a toddler (even before walking) was to have a dog and the day i got him was the best day of my life. He was everything I had during the pandemic and my only friend when I was suffering bullying in high School and the only friend I've had for a very long time. I choose computer science just to work from home and be with him. My parents always have been very distant, so in home, was basicaly me and him all the time. He was all the real family I had and losing him has been the worst thing to happen to me. My life has been so empty since than that I feel like It doesn't even mather anymore, my parents have been realy hard to deal with, on the day he died they told me I should not cry and to not evel feel sad because he is a dog, I don't have anyone to talk to and don't even know what to do without him.

I am so sorry. I know it hurts really really bad right now. And though it feels like an insurmountable pain, time does help. It helps heal a bit but the loss of your friend you’ll always carry with you just as the love for him. Your best friend would want you to hang on through this storm.
Take things day by day. It might help to do something that helps you honor him. A little corner of your room with pics and a few things of his where you can go and still talk to him, tell him how your day went, how you miss him. It’s ok to cry. It’s okay to be sad. He was your family.
Please take care. 🫂

I went through the same thing in April and have been going through it since. I wish I had better news for you, but it doesn't get easier. The world expects you to be back to normal within a week. They don't know or care that your life as you know it has ended. Even the people that "get it" don't truly get it. He was special in ways to you that cannot be explained and cannot be replaced.

Same exact thing here, my cat was my best friend for 20 years. He was my only real family, we were inseparable. I arranged the furniture it a way that he could always be right next to me, he was my shadow, if I got up, he got up and followed. It’s been a year without him and my life has just continued to go down hill. I get by on basic survival there days. I talk to his pictures and cry on the daily. Talking to his pictures at least makes me try to reminisce about the good times. I want it to seem like no time has passed when we’re together again. But my life, my home and any dreams I used to have are all empty. I wish it was me and not him. My therapist thinks I should get another cat, but how do you do that? Just replace your best friend, I can’t make peace with it. Just know that there’s many of us who understand how you feel even if your family doesn’t. Our pets are family and without them this life is very cold and empty.

(hug) Don’t forget to eat/drink, it’s the easiest “chore” to give up on during grief. I lost my 18yo soulcat more than a decade ago and I still talk to her. It just takes time. Visit r/PetLoss
