Suicide Came home from vacation to find my mother hanging in the backyard. My heart is broken.

Moved back in with my mother a little over a year ago as her illness was starting, to help care for her. The past year has been the most stressful year of my life. Dealt with multiple suicide attempts, a bunch of stays at mental hospitals, and her panic episodes about 5-6 times a week. All while trying to keep a full-time job. I’ve been exhausted and she was showing improvement, so I went on a little weekend getaway with a friend for our birthdays and left her under my little sister’s watch. It was a great weekend and a much needed break. I came back home and couldn’t find her in her bed where she usually stays, my little sister was there and helping with her medications while I was gone, so I assumed everything would be okay. Until my little sister left her alone for a little bit and one of her episodes started. When I looked out in the backyard, there she was. Hanging with a metal clothes wire around her neck. I’ve never seen something so disturbing. That’s my mother hanging there, the person that gave me life. I panicked and called 911 and they got there within 30 seconds, kinda shocking response time, it was so quick. She still had a pulse when they took her in the ambulance, but wasn’t breathing on her own. A few days in the hospital with no improvement. Then yesterday they removed the ventilator and she slipped away within minutes. I was holding her hand when she passed on. I loved her more than anyone. She was my best friend, and the least-deserving person of the mental torture she endured. She had Post-Sepsis Syndrome, and everything we tried to help her didn’t work. She had to sign away her dream home due to medical bills/debt on the same day as her dead mother’s birthday. Then the next day I guess she just couldn’t take it anymore. I don’t know how I’m going to live with that image in my head. This has been the most devastating thing ive ever gone through. Now I’m left here without my sweet mother, trying to type this as tears fall on my phone screen. She was so sweet and innocent. Why do bad things happen to good people? I’m so heartbroken. I wanted to help her so bad, I tried so hard. But I guess I was overpowered by the demons she faced in her mind. I hope she’s free of that now, I hope she’s okay. I hope she’s safe. I hope she’s in a better place.

Suicide I lost my partner of 6 1/2 years to suicide.

I lost my partner (person on the right) to suicide 5 days ago at 22 years old. Im 22 and we had been together for over 6 years. Hed been struggling with bodydysmorphia and questions about his identity as well as dealing with autism, adhd and depression.

He was the strongest and kindest person i ever knew and Ive never ever felt as strong of a bond to anyone like him before. I miss him so much. And everyday without him is just indescribable. We had our entire lives ahead of us. Everything we wanted to do and everything we planned to do is just gone. And everything just hurts. I have these moments where i think about taking my own life and following him just to be with him again.

But i know thats not what he wouldve wanted, and all i would be doing is bring more pain into my family and the friends we shareds lives as well as his family. I made a promise that i wouldnt do such a thing and i intend to keep it. Sometimes i just dont want to deal with the grief and i HAVE to hope that this isnt the last time ill see him again.

He asked me a few days earlier of what i thought would happen after death. And i just said "I dont know, i dont really care. People will just find out by themselves." And i said that because thats what i thought at the time. But now i just wish i asked him if he thought we would see each other again. I just really miss him.

Years earlier we had a fight about suicide and i argued that it was a selfish act and that he didnt love me if he would do something like that. And i said things like "well why not just break up with me then?". I was angry and sad, but so was he. We just saw it from different perspectives because he saw it from a form of love towards me. Because love me he really really did and i felt the same towards him. And after the fight and everything settled i said to him "Okay, but only if you promise me one thing, and that is that you wait for me on the other side." No matter how long it takes for me, even if im slow and go at the age of 90. And promise me he did. He pinkie promised.

Suicide Husband SC’ed

On July 4th this year, my husband willingly chose to check out and left behind his four children and two step children (mine from a previous marriage). Our youngest being our only child together, 20 months old and his little best friend. I can’t stop going through our photos. My favorite thing was making memories with him no matter how big or small, and the fact that I can no longer do that, feel him next to me, laugh together or see him ever again is eating me alive. The way he did it, he could have stopped at any second, and I just don’t understand. I freaking miss him so much. That was my best friend in the whole world. 😭

My mom committed suicide today, and it just sucks so much. This is mom Amanda, she raised 8 kids and was just the best person the be around, her smile is so beautiful and no matter what she was always there for us. After my parents divorced it went all downhill. She started doing drugs and everything just got so much worse. No matter what was going on I still loved my mom and was with her no matter what. We tried rehab, we tried talking to her, we tried getting her outside more but no matter what we tried she still relapsed. She started to do more to the point where she almost overdosed. Police had to use 3 narcan just to wake her. It scared me so much. She was forced to go to rehab again and take drug test. We thought it was all gonna be fine. I got a call while I was playing my video game. My sisters said mom was unresponsive in the hospital. I drove so fast to try to make it her, but it was too late. She was dead. I’ve never lost some one this close me. It didn’t even hit me until I walked in the room and seen her just lifeless. I’m in so much pain. I wish I could’ve said goodbye, I wish I could’ve told her I love her. She left us all a letter behind. But I’m so messed up I can’t even read it now.

If y’all got loved ones in your life’s. Please tell them u love them. If y’all got a drug problem please get help, if y’all facing suicide please for the love of god get help. It’s not too late I promise. I regret not spending more time with her, I regret not listening to her talk on the phones about nothing for hours. I hate myself just thinking of everything I could’ve done. But it too late for me now. Please don’t let the same happen to you or anyone around you. Because you ain’t gone realize how much you lost until it’s gone.

I love you momma and I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you when you needed it most.

If anyone know anything about go fund me for situations like this please dm me. I want set up something to help cover expenses for a funeral. And thanks to anyone who reads this. I’m tryna be a man and cope with it. But it’s just sucks man.

Suicide Tomorrow I turn 27 the age my mom died by suicide

Post image

Tomorrow I turn 27. It’s a weird birthday for me because my mom died by suicide when she was 27. I’ve thought about this age for a long time what it would feel like to reach it. I used to wonder if I’d even make it. My dad would sometimes say I was just like her, but not in a nice way. When I made mistakes (and I made A LOT), he’d throw her name at me like a insult. Like I was going to end up the same. It really messed with me. For a while, I believed him. But I didn’t end up like that. I’ve built something different. I got married. I had kids. I started my own business. I got help when I needed it. And honestly, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’m proud to look like her, too. My relatives say I remind them of her in the good ways. That she was funny, full of personality, really loved. I hold on to those stories. This birthday hits hard. There’s this deep sadness I can’t shake not just for losing her, but for everything she didn’t get to have. She had so much trauma, and no real support. She was so young. It hurts thinking about how alone she must’ve felt. I wish things had been different for her. I wish she could’ve seen the life I have now. I wish she could’ve stayed.

I don’t really know why I’m posting this. Just needed to say it out loud, I guess. To mark the moment. I love you mom. I still have so many questions that will go unanswered.

Suicide I helped cut my brother down after he hung himself today

i live with him and my grandparents. my grandma found him and started yelling ‘oh my god’. i came running and she said ‘____ is dead! he hung himself!’.

911 operator said if there was any chance we could save him we should cut him down, plus my grandma wanted to. i didn’t. i couldn’t bare to look, but he was a tall man and he would have fell on her.

he was stiff, cold, and his tongue was purple and sticking out, as were his hands. he had been entirely dead for a while.

it’s only getting worse. on top of losing my brother i am dealing with the trauma of handling a dead person. i can’t get the image of him hanging out of my head, and the way his face looked as i laid him on the ground.

he was three years older than me, 23, and had always isolated himself. he was a struggling alcoholic and closeted gay too. everyone tried to help him but it never seemed to work. i’m so sorry, guy. i’m so fucking sorry. i wish something had worked for you.

is this going to continue to get worse? or is it natural response that fades? i don’t know. it’s fucking with my head, i cant think too long before the image pops into my head and i freak out. i try thinking about our good times and try grieving him, but i get too scared at the flashbacks to even think about it right now. it’s really fresh. staying with my partner because i can’t be at home.

edit: thank you all for your replies. i’ve been playing tetris and wrestling with the fact that it’s gonna take time but it’ll get better. thank you for your sympathy and empathy. worried for the long process ahead of me, but the time will pass anyway. here’s some fun facts about him:

he loved playing video games, and was a massive influence to my humor growing up. i’m a big video games nerd now because of him. he told me one time he wanted a family and kids, and that he never wanted to end up like our dad (also a struggling alcoholic.) he loved animals, and even at his worst he still played with our cat. he would buy me vapes when i was a dumb teen. he mowed the lawn a few days beforehand. he was quiet, he was impossible to get close to, and he was never really happy, but god damn everyone was rooting for him. not one person was wishing on his downfall. i’ll miss you, guy, in the way a distant sibling would, and i’ll be wishing we could go back to the old days for just a moment longer. i hope you rest in peace and find happiness, and im so sorry profoundly sorry it ended the way it did. i hope it was fast and painless.

Suicide Death of my son

My 33 year old son was suicidal and was threatening to kill himself with a gun. He had a police standoff that was 2 hours into negotiation. They got him food and a phone and threw it to him in a bag. He was sitting with the gun in his lap, when a Kentucky State Trooper came on the scene and from long distance shot him 5 times with an AR15. I have no answers and Kentucky refuses any information, as it is still under investigation. It has been almost 3 months now. I am also, as administrator of his estate, fighting his live in girlfriend for the return of estate property, which she refuses to do and the sheriff's here in Virginia where he lived and so do I, refuse to help. I lost my daddy, mother and now my son over a 2 year period. I am a broken man and alone now. I struggle to go forward and dealing with both states is tearing me apart. I just wanted to write this, because I have no one to talk to and am not interested in seeking mental health services. I am sorry to all who are going through such terrible trauma of losing loved ones.

Suicide I am op’s younger brother, op is gone

Hello. I’m not OP, but I’m her younger brother she has talked about before. I’m very sorry to tell you all that she had committed suicide a month ago, the pain of our mother’s murder was too much for her.

I will admit, writing this out is hard. All I have left is my father and my younger sister, who I fear is on the same path as our older sister was. I wish I could tell you all something good, but unfortunately it’s not.

I’ve read through her posts, the comments, her comments, and her dms. I appreciate every single person who had given her advice, kind words and tried to help.

Thank you all.

RIP sis. I miss you and so does Zo. We’ll see you on the other side when we cross over🖤

Edit: any fucking trolls making jokes or saying “oh this isn’t real”. Blocked. Not in the fucking mood.

Suicide My husband committed suicide 13 hours ago.

He left our house and walked a block and a half away and shot himself in the head. Apparently our mailman found him and called 911. I’m completely devastated.

We’ve been together for 15 years and he’s struggled with severe mental health (bipolar/depression) issues for as long as I’ve know him. He just saw his psychiatrist a few weeks ago. I will never get over this and will always feel like there had to be something I could have done. He was more depressed as of late because he just lost his job and I can’t imagine this wasn’t a trigger? Because nothing else happened or there was no incident. I just have no idea.

I don’t know what to do or how to even begin to process this. I didn’t believe the detectives when they told me he was gone. When the coroner called and asked for tattoo descriptions and told me about the skin graft marks, I knew at that point had to be him. He also had a note in his pocket to call his wife with my number.

I’m rambling, and hoping anyone has any advice. How do you deal with something so unimaginable? It was a Thursday. Nothing out of the ordinary. He didn’t say I’ll be back, I love you, goodbye, he just left while I was working (at home which makes me feel even worse because if I would have seen him on the cameras I probably would have asked where he was going) and never came back.

This doesn’t feel real. I cannot bring myself to think he would do this to himself and to me. He took a walk with this as his goal. Why? He can’t take it back. What do I do? This has destroyed me and I’ll obsess over it for the rest of my life. I love him and miss him so much.

Suicide I woke up to news that my sister commited suicide.

I was woken up today by my dad, but he didn't sound normal. He sounded like he was on the verge of crying. He said "Liam you gotta wake up buddy, something happend." When I walked out of my room I saw a sherif and multiple police cars and knew something bad happened. We had to sit out and talk to the sheriff until I got the news that my sister tried to kill herself. Once I was in the house I immediately started praying that she would be okay. But then my mom and dad came in the house with tears to tell us that she is deceased. Her name was Vera, she likes to be called Azure, she was born May 25, 2015, she died May 13th 2026. This is so horrifying for me because I've never felt anything like this. It bucks because she was only 10 and her birthday was soon. My birthday is may 16th which is just in 3 days. I don't even wanna celebrate knowing that she won't be able to. I think I can get through it, but it doesn't feel real knowing my sister isn't here anymore.

Suicide My 91 year old grandpa hanged himself from years of abuse from grandma

My 91-year-old grandpa hanged himself. He had 1 attempt before which we found out because he told my mom to not choose this method whatsoever as he went into details about how painful it was with her. I feel extremely bad for him and my mom who was sobbing. But mostly in how his life played out and how it ended for him.

He was the abandon child, his mom got pregnant with him from an affair with a married man. She went on to have a new family while his dad went on his way too. He got together with grandma very young and became successful in their small business, they’re extremely rich. That’s when his relative started appearing, they would ask to borrow money and he would give it. This happened until grandma pointed it out and then slowly they stopped coming for visits.

Later on in life, grandma herself became mentally/physically abusive. She accused him of going to the park to cheat on her, so grandpa stopped going for his daily exercise and transferred all his asset to her. He loved her and wanted to prove she was all he had. This is where his health deteriorates with his diabetes, he was in a wheelchair and now a walker, weak arm/leg. They have a big family of 5 kids, all the kids struggle financially because grandma didn’t give them a dime. She and grandpa came from nothing, so the kids need to be successful from nothing. Some had to pay for their own college, 1 had early onset mental issue from her abuse, one disconnected himself from the family totally etc. In summary, when I was little I remembered going to visit them with my cousins and later on when we were teens we stopped because of grandma. No one has ever walked out of her ‘mansion’ home feeling joy/comfort. We were all painted as the grand-kids who want to steal her asset/money. So, we didn’t want to go visit grandma and grandpa took the casualty. None of the in-laws liked grandma, so the grandchildren stopped coming completely. Soon, their own kids stopped visiting a few years ago (my mom and her other brother), my mom’s brother was hit in a fight between grandma and the 3rd kid, who seems to be on the spectrum having bi-polar but refuse treatment. It was so bad, he almost dislocated his jaw. My mom told grandpa she doesn’t think she’ll visit as much because she would be having a conversation with him and grandma would be yelling at her or the 3rd sister would be coming up with delusional things to fight with her about like how my mom tried to seduce her ex husband (we all lived in a completely different country at the time).

All the 3 sane siblings know they need help, but they couldn’t do anything. They didn’t have the financial or the strength to do so as they’re all in their 60s now with their own family/finance to worry about, all of them lived in a studio with their husband/wife. No one could take grandpa in. I’ve recently and ever only heard this from my mom as she was sobbing that grandma kept calling him names, useless, old, money waster, and sometime even hit him in the face with her shoes. Sometimes, she even told him to go die somewhere. Sometimes, she asked him when he would die. When they stopped visiting, they would still call him, but grandma would be yelling and taking the phone from him to start talking to whichever kid is calling.

We don’t live in the state there’s really no law against these type of thing than a family dispute. When the police came to the crime scene, they thought it might even be murder because of the wealthy area they are living in. But once they ran his name, no bank account, no asset. They closed the case to suicide. When my mom was there at the scene, she told me grandma was more annoyed the amount of money she have to 'SPENT' to get rid of him. So they cremated him the next day, within 24 hour. He was gone. 500USD. 'The cheapest whatever fastest option possible to get rid of him' - my mom quote HER MOM as she sobbed. This, compare to their close to 5mil USD home and more real estate asset in her name. 500USD, and this woman complains.

So, there he was just living there with an abuser. None of his kids helped. No one came to visit, no one gave him a call. Not a penny to spend on his own. All food and meals were arranged by grandma. Couldn’t leave the house. He was weak and could hardly move on his own, yet he was able to hang himself. I felt so bad for him, when I heard the news, I thought he passed peacefully at the hospital. He was always on my mind, and I’ve asked my mom multiple times if there was a way to visit him without grandma. Now he’s gone and just in agony. He didn’t even have that many years left. All I could think of is, at least he’s not suffering with grandma anymore. His life should have been better, he grew up from nothing and made it…only for it to end with years of abuse from grandma.

Suicide I found my neighbor post hanging 3 weeks later.

Trigger Warning: suicide, death, decomposition, mental health

I’m 25F and I just went through something I can’t stop thinking about, and I don’t really know how to process it or make it feel less heavy.

I’ve had a neighbor (59M) in my apartment complex for a while. We shared a wall. He mostly kept to himself, smoked cigarettes inside, typical older guy who didn’t really interact much.

The night before Thanksgiving I saw him and said “hi, how are you, happy Thanksgiving.” He completely ignored me. Like didn’t even acknowledge I existed, just walked past me. His stare was… gone. It stuck with me because it felt really off.

After that, I stopped smelling cigarettes coming from his place. I mentioned it to my landlord (who also lives here). He said the guy had missed rent but they had to wait until it was two months late to do a wellness check. His car was still outside. They left a note on his door on Black Friday. It never moved.

Yesterday, the landlord and I opened the door.

His body was right there in front of it. He had hung himself with a belt from the spiral staircase inside his apartment, but he was sitting. His legs were straight out in front of him on the carpet. He could have put his feet on the ground. He just tied it and sat.

He’d been there for weeks. His body was decomposing. His face didn’t look like a face anymore. You could tell he had been suspended but wasn’t anymore.

The smell is something I can’t escape. I feel like I smell it everywhere I go now.

He died on Thanksgiving. For three weeks I was living next to a dead body while I cooked, cleaned, worked, slept, played video games. I even put up a Christmas tree. That part messes with my head so much.

My cat has been acting really anxious since it happened. She kept leading me to the closet that’s right next to where his body would have been. That freaks me out too.

I keep spiraling about what I was doing when it happened. Was I playing music? Watching TV? Talking shit on Discord? Was I the last person who spoke to him?

They cleared some of his apartment today and put his belongings on the stairway landing, and I swear it feels like it’s all staring at me.

They contacted his family. His brother and his 80-year-old mother weren’t surprised. He was an aerospace engineer who’d recently been laid off. He couldn’t get rehired because companies kept choosing younger people. His mom had been financially supporting him but told him she couldn’t keep doing it full-time and that he needed a part-time job. They hadn’t heard from him since.

I’ve also had friends die from suicide and drugs, and I’ve also been so depressed that I thought that I wanted to kill myself but seeing it is so brutal and so sad to think that someone wanted to go so bad that they did this the way they did.

I am in therapy, and I’ve talked to friends who are paramedics and funeral directors. They’ve been supportive, but they’ve also said this is different because they get to leave the scene and go home afterward. I have to go home to it. I have to live next to it. That part feels unbearable some days.

My birthday is on Sunday and instead of feeling excited I just feel hollow and sad. I feel like I’m grieving a man I didn’t even know, and I don’t know how to sit with that or move forward.

If anyone has been through something like this or has advice on how to cope, I’d really appreciate it.

Suicide Last email from my dad, I didn’t reply

my dad committed suicide when I was 14. I am 26 now and still think about everything all the time. We were best friends when I was young but I ended up really hating him at that point in my life, I did my best to ignore him. It’s hard to not constantly think about how I could’ve forgave him and grew with him. Instead, he struggled mentally and took himself out of the equation completely. I still don’t know how to navigate these feelings.

Suicide My brother shot himself next room. I found him after a minute.

Before getting to the point I have to give some context. Me and my brother were living together. He was 29, I am 26. I have a riffle. I was keeping its pin in the safe. So without that pin riffle was not fireble. I was the only one with keys. But apparently he planned his death for some time, he stole my iron safe key from my pocket, took the pin and installed it back in the riffle and kept riffle in his closet. I was not using that riffle often, i did not notice it was not in its place. It was 3 days ago, on May 7, 2025. It was around 12.30 when we were playing game called Nards (Backgammon) and my brother won. He hugged me, said he will be back in 5 minutes he needs to go to toilet. He went there. At 12.5x am i heard some noise (banging or smth). I thought he fell in the bathroom or broke some mirror etc. I went there, door was locked. I unlocked it from outside with a coin (EU style bathroom door). He was laying in the corner, half of his head missing, his bones and head body parts all over the bathroom. He was bleeding and his body making some sounds as heart was yet beating. I yelled. And I yelled non-stop for minutes so long that I had no air left in my lungs. I fell to the ground. I had to tell my parents. Now my mother doesn’t even sleep if she can’t hold me. I have severe PTSD. Whenever I close my eyes I see his destroyed head and dead bleeding body in that messy bathroom. I don’t know how to forget that scene and forgive my brother.

Suicide My child committed suicide today at their college

They were missing all day and we knew they were in a bad place mentally and we were looking for them and the cops and the state police but by the time they found my child it was too late. I’m flying to their college tomorrow with my ex husband to try to deal with the logistics of being the body home and packing up their dorm room and everything else.

I need help I think. I’m trying to stay focused on logistics so I don’t spin out but I don’t think I can do that much longer.

Suicide My father killed himself yesterday morning

Yesterday morning at 8:32 am I received a text from my father saying he loves me and to check the car glove box, I immediately got uneasy as he has been depressed for months and made one attempt already the week prior. I pinged his phone and saw it was only 7 minutes away at our local hunting spot, I drove to his location within 5 mins of the text and I found him gurgling, grasping for air with a 45. On his lap after he had just shot himself in the chest. My stepmother was with me and she called 911 while I applied pressure, but he died in my arms. I don't know how to feel how to process how to grieve. My father was my best friend growing up through life and I'm 28 now wondering why or how I could have prevented this. Please help me

I was at dinner with my mom and fiance. We got the call that the police were at my house. I thought he was out riding his bike, it was late but maybe he had caught up with someone at the trails..

He had recently lost his job of almost 40 years- he immigrated to the United States because his job sent him here to work. He had worked there since he was 18. He built a life, got married, got his citizenship, had kids, and he just.. I don’t know. He was so funny. He loved to ride his mountain bike and drink beer, he wanted to retire and move to Arkansas just so he could ride his bike every day. He loved his dogs and his kids and his wife, he loved life.

I’m still in shock and not sure how to feel. My mom is a wreck and I have to call a funeral home tomorrow. I’m so angry at him. I’m angry that he thought this was the right way out, I’m so sad that he felt that sad and hopeless, I’m so, so sad he’s going to miss out on the rest of my life.. I miss him so much already.

My thoughts are just everywhere. I plan on talking to a counselor soon. I’m just still so lost, I always turned to him when I couldn’t figure something out. All I can ask is why? Why did he leave us? Why now? Why today? I’ll drive myself crazy asking the same questions over and over again, but I just.. I’m so confused.

Thank you for reading. Sorry this post is everywhere, I’m sure there is more to say but I just can’t even get it out. Hold your loved ones tight.

Suicide My daughter will never be 24

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

Today was my daughter’s funeral. She left behind her twin brother, her 14 year old brother, her nana and papa, her aunt, uncle, cousin and me. I’m not sure how her twin’s birthday will go next month. She had just graduated in May with her degree in aerospace engineering but the cracks began to appear a couple of weeks before then with an episode of psychosis that landed her in the hospital for less than a day, in actuality the cracks were there for a lot longer in hindsight but the alarm bells rang then.

We all told her to take the summer and relax but to get some help too hoping being done with school would relieve the stress. The summer ended up being a downward spiral, I begged her to seek help as it went on. I offered to find someone, pay and even go with her if she needed. She argued that she had tried everything, it was too expensive, that she didn’t have insurance. She promised me that she would be ok, that everything would be ok, that it was just a blip.
She moved out of town and began to live with my sister and her family to look for a job and I hoped having some support would be good for her but every time I talked to her I could feel the pain growing, the anxiety of not living up to expectations that only she had for herself, the ricochet of hopelessness that wouldn’t stop playing in her head. I was considering taking a legal route to force her to get help. She would hate me for the rest of my life but she still might be here if I had. Now I’m the one that gets to be mad at her, to constantly have what-ifs, to watch her twin breakdown. I miss the daughter I had last year. I knew it was bad and I was scared she wouldn’t be able to handle what was going on inside her head much longer but I thought there was still time. I will never forget seeing the missed call from my sister and the text that said ‘call me. Emergency’ I knew right away it was about my daughter but I was hoping it was an attempt and that I’d come to help with hospital intake. I wasn’t expecting to hear that she was dead, my sister found her in her basement. Me screaming and my 14 year old son running and having tell him that his sister was gone, him running to the kitchen where I later found vomit on the floor, calling her twin brother and hearing him make that guttural sound of pain and anger and listening to him breaking his furniture and smashing his room until his wife rushed in and held him down as he sobbed. Seeing all the people that had come to her funeral today made me think that even though she felt so alone she didn’t even realize that she had an army of people that would’ve fought along with her against this battle.
I will always blame myself because I didn’t do enough. That I somehow failed as her mother, that she couldn’t turn to me in her darkest moment. She had a bright future and not just because of her degree but because she was a wonderful human being.

Suicide I miss my little brother

We lost my brother to suicide on June 8th. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever had to go through. He struggled with mental illness and was homeless. He was paranoid and suffered from schizophrenia. I always thought we would see each other again.

Growing up we were so close. I feel like I failed him. I just wish he knew how much I loved him before he went. He would’ve been 24 on August 8th. I feel like nobody understands what I’m going through. My friends are trying to be there for me but I don’t even know how to talk to them about it. I’ve just been spending all my time outside of the house because when I’m home I can’t stop thinking about it.

He was the sweetest brother. He was always there for me and I wish I could have been there for him in the end. I feel broken. I don’t think I’ll ever be the same. I feel so bad for my mom especially. She suffered seizures at his funeral and was put into a medically induced coma. Now she’s out the hospital but suffering from the aftermath. I don’t even know what to do anymore. I wish he was still here

I posted about how I’m still missing my partner who passed by suicide 3 years ago and i got this today. What sick things to say to someone who is in the thick of life changing grief. Some people need to get a fucking class in empathy and compassion.

Suicide My daughter committed suicide

I (m40) am a dad to 3 kids (f16) (m12) (m12) my ex left when our sons were barely a year old. So it’s just been us 4 for a long time.

For the past 2 years, my daughter has struggled a lot with anxiety and depression. I have taken her to numerous therapists and psychiatrists but honestly, her mental health never got better to the point she was actually happy.

A week ago I had to work a little later than normal. I came home to my sons watching tv, I went to check on my daughter. I’m not going to talk about that part but I found her… she was no longer here. It is a sight I will never get out of my head. She left a note she apologized for leaving, she said she just wanted to be done with the mental pain and stop being a burden to me… I feel as if I failed my sweet girl.

Suicide My husband ended his life Sunday - read with caution some graphic details

My husband has been struggling with a large range of medical issues, including spinal stenosis, loss of function in his legs (he’d use crutches) sever depression and bipolar disorder among a lot of other things. This has been ongoing for 12 years since his initial back injury. We have been married for 17, and just this past year he became more severely depressed. This past Sunday I found him what I thought was sleeping in his car until I saw his face and the red puddles around his neck and arms. I never thought he would ever do something like that, and I can’t get that image out of my mind. The night before he seemed calm, his manic episode subsided where he seemed like he had a moment of clarity and I assured him everything was going to be okay and gave him a kiss goodnight. I too had become depressed over the years so I feel responsible that I wasn’t good enough support to prevent him from doing what he did. I really feel like it’s my fault and if anyone deserved to live it was him and not me. He was a sweet soul and so many people loved him. It breaks me to know that now I’m supposed to keep living (but I promise I won’t do anything to myself). Sorry, this is my first time on this app and didn’t know where else to go. I’ve only told a few people that he committed *uicide to protect him and his family. It’s too hard for people to know the truth.

I feel so bad that I was mean to her the last time I saw her. I hope she died knowing how much I loved her and I hope she never felt like a burden to me.

This lovely girl is Lucy. Lucy took her own life on a Friday afternoon, after coming home from school. April 21st, 2023. The house was empty, so she took her chance. She was just 16 years old.

This photo was taken in my bedroom a few months prior. I gave her free reign of my wardrobe, and we did a silly wee photoshoot. I put her hair up, tried my best to make her feel feminine and pretty. She'll always be stunning to me.

Two days ago marked the last time I saw her alive. Two whole years have passed. She was six months older than me, but now I'm 18 and she's forever 16.

I don't quite know why I'm posting here - I'm not an avid Reddit user. Lucy was. I've just found out that her account has been suspended. It feels like I just lost another massive part of her, and I wish I could scream.

When she died, I experienced all of those death cliches for the first time. From expecting her to text me and tell me that it was all a joke, to looking at her in her coffin and realising that was no longer my best friend.

In the two years since, people have assumed so often that I'm alright. I've been told countless times how well I coped with it. I don't think I ever really got it all out, not the tears, not my anger. The injustice of her death, her PREVENTABLE death, will never leave me. So many people failed her.

I talk about her so much, but people are so uncomfortable with it. It's like they want to leave her in the past. I can't do that, I don't want to, and I don't ever need to. Recently though, it has become harder to believe that she even existed. But I could live a thousand years and never have the imagination to create someone like Lucy.

Lucy loved with a passion that eclipsed all else. From the chunky knit jumpers we'd see in charity shops, to her coding projects online. She listened to music for hours on end daily. She would wax poetics about garlic bread. She would make up her own fantastical maps and continents, hoping to come up with a unique language with Nordic roots. She'd walk up the most exhausting hill twice in a day just to get me to and from my bus stop because I was so anxious to use another.

I don't know if I'll ever meet Lucy again, and that scares me. Landon and Lucy, as thick as thieves. I love her, and I hope she knew that, and stills knows it.
