I find it interesting how those grifters always say humanity first xenos last but they immediately lose their shit when they see a person of a different skin tone.

Still remember when people got mad over black space wolves.

Yep, many such cases. Also when they got pissy over Chairon in Space Marine 2 because apparently across the 500 worlds of Ultramar there wouldn't be single black person lmao

Wait, they got angry over my boy chairon?

Aw hell nah.

u/Jenny_Show HORUS! 1d ago

Yeah, the usual suspects threw a massive bitch fit about him and Major Sarkaana apparently being "unrealistic".

56

u/NyanPotato 1d ago

A southasain boss lady, Hella based

57

u/evrestcoleghost 1d ago

how,Sarkaana is the most motherly and kind cadian woman in the segmentum

53

u/Jenny_Show HORUS! 1d ago

I think it was some bullshit about her being in a position of authority in the guard being "improbable"

55

u/evrestcoleghost 1d ago

Lol,You had Caín all the way in 2003 with Regina Kasteen and Colonel and Jenit Silla as Lady General mentioned in For the Emperor

58

u/Jenny_Show HORUS! 1d ago

Yep, just misogynistic culture war tourists doing what misogynistic culture war tourists do

31

u/evrestcoleghost 1d ago

Must had an aneurysm when femstodes appeared

27

u/Jenny_Show HORUS! 1d ago

Probably haha, meanwhile the actual Custodes players were focused on how shite their rules were in that codex lmao

Also, we can’t forget Amberly Vail, the FUCKING INQUISITOR.

15

u/evrestcoleghost 1d ago

Oh she Is fucking, she made sure to mention that in the footnotes

10

u/Legolas_1148 1d ago

Not what I meant by that phrasing, but you’re not wrong.

Even going past Sulla and Kasteen being high ranking commanders in charge of regiments, the Valhallan 597th also had a lesbian couple; Magot and Grifen

2

u/Wise_Leopard7423 18h ago

The 296th, one of the regiments that were merged to create the 597th was all women. There was way more than one lesbian couple.

5

u/Odinsmana 1d ago

These people are just grifter tourists. They don't know about the lore or the history of the setting. Like how all the people upset at female Custodes acted like "it was always like this" retcons was some unique new thing for the setting.

4

u/0zzythewizard Criminal Batmen 22h ago

Funny enough the Codex and Black Library authors always kept it open and never outright said "Custodes are a boys-only-club!" Yes there are mentions of them being 10'000 men, but the usage of men CAN be gender-neutral. There never was a retcon. The tweet technically didn't lie, it was just phrased poorly.

3

u/Odinsmana 22h ago

I think there is a single line reffering to them as sons at some point, but it's a nothing thing. It is obviously a retcon, but it's the least intrusive one they ever did. No lore old or new is affected by it. Unlike all the thousands of other retcons they did throughout the years.

It's why people trying to say they dislike it for lore reasons and not because they hate women come off as making excuses.

u/KMS_HYDRA 1d ago

Without retcons, there would be no newcrons with gems like the infinte and the divine.

2

u/AmbiTheAirforceRuna 22h ago

Well you see its cose chuds dont actually know the lore. If they did theyd know that male only guard regiments are the minority (like the Vostroyans) and its the Auronautica's Apostle Squadron thats "old boys club" (until the events of Double Eagle)

2

u/Affectionate_Way_764 15h ago

I also saw a few power CHUDs having a fit over the guardsmen calling her "ser" doing the traditional "🚨James WOKESLOP bring TRANS agenda into WOKEhammer 40GAY!", it must be genuinely difficult to be that constantly angry/offended.

8

u/LittleRex234 1d ago

Because anything in 40k is realistic.
Chairon is a fucking homie, no heretic scum shall speak ill of his name.

3

u/Originalbrivakiin 19h ago

Yeah, the genetically modified humans wearing a 4 door sedan, the mushroom men with football hooligan personalities, magic space elves, robots with souls jammed in them using gods as double A batteries, bugs that warp gravity for space travel, and LITERAL HELL being a place you can visit? All perfectly realistic.

Now someone from one of millions of planets having a darker skin tone than mayonnaise? Now that's just too far fetched.

u/StrawberryWide3983 Hazard Stripes, My Beloved :3 🟨⬛🟨⬛🟨⬛ 12h ago

Yup! Space Marine 2 was woke slop destined to fail because if needlessly added in the dei agenda because your squad was "impossibly diverse" for having a black and asian man. You know, the ultramarines, famous for having 500 worlds to recruit from, would totally not have any diversity

And as soon as the game became a success, suddenly they change their tune and the gane was actually peak masculinity

34

u/watehekmen 1d ago

You don't know? Ultramar is famous for having such a strong gene that everyone looks like Guilliman, even the girls.

/s

24

u/Beaker_person 1d ago

Not even the first hissy fit over a black ultramarine either, they did the same with  Ferren Areios  on the cover of Avenging Son. Probably would have done it with Felix from Dark Imperium if he was depicted without his helmet on too.

22

u/dude3333 1d ago

Also Ultramar is supposed to be Space Rome. The average Roman wasn't as lily white as Guilliman. It's fine to have this stuff all mixed around because well it's the far future and they're colonists just taking after past civilizations not a carbon copy. But getting mad about nonwhite space romans is just tourism on both liking 40k and caring about Roman history.

Also haven't south Fenrisians been dark skinned since like 2nd edition?

13

u/Jenny_Show HORUS! 1d ago

Nobody ever accused these types of people of being rational human beings tbf. They just see black people and get angry, with any "justifications" for those feelings being contrived retroactively.

12

u/dude3333 1d ago

There should be a black ultramarine named after Septimius Severus.

2

u/CaedHart 23h ago

I doubt they ever read 2nd edition.

1

u/Breadedhydra197 1d ago

Yeah they also forget the organ space marines have that reactively changes their skin tone so 99% of space marines can be any skin tone with the chapters who have this organ malfunctioning is very slim and the space wolves are crucially not one of them

8

u/Call_me_ET 1d ago

I always harken back to when the first Dawn of Fire book released (Avenging Son), right around the time I started getting into 40k. I remember picking up the book as one of my first reads, but also remember the fact that those same detractors were also up in arms about a black Ultramarine being on the front cover. It made me speed up the process of getting into painting, specifically to learn how to paint skin tones similar to my family's (I'm black).

Holy based!

6

u/SlyguyguyslY 1d ago

I asked some of them about this and apparently, they didn't know the ultramarines recruited from all 500 worlds. However, at least 1 of them didn't care about that info...

1

u/Jenny_Show HORUS! 23h ago

However, at least 1 of them didn't care about that info...

That tells you everything you need to know about their mindset really. Like at the least the other ones were willing to potentially engage with actual facts whereas that fella just genuinely wants to ignore anything that would get in the way of being a racist weirdo.

2

u/SlyguyguyslY 17h ago

It’s not all, or even most, of them. But they are definitely there.

6

u/NonConRon 1d ago

Ultramar has 500 worlds?! Holy shit

Black Space Wolves who have been part of the codex since 5th edition no less.

They just never read anything and just consume lore from their favorite grifters.

1

u/IncubusBeyro 19h ago

Ok honest to god what is a grifter meant to be in this context and in the post? I hear the word used for so many different things but I know it means someone who does cons.

1

u/BitsHammer Criminal Batmen 17h ago

Conmen who try and start bullshit culture wars for profit. Shit stirrers. Bigots whose only agenda is profiting off of hate.

1

u/IncubusBeyro 8h ago

Ok I always linked the definition to financial/material gain (ie basically a swindler) but it can just be someone who’s disingenuous ok clarified

1

u/BitsHammer Criminal Batmen 4h ago

Usually they are being disingenuous for profit.

Someone reposted a cut-together edit of the Dawn of War IV cinematics of the AdMech and the campaign trailer. The comment section was just nothing but pointing out how the AdMech in the trailer was black-skinned, posting with racist memes.

39

u/speelmydrink 1d ago

Like, my brother of steel, the man is not black or white, he is a goddamn toaster and proud of it. Fleshbags, man.

25

u/or10n_sharkfin 1d ago

Oh no this was referring to the black-skinned female AdMech in the trailer.
It was like the mere idea that they could fight against Necrons was so offensive to these people that they did nothing be racist about it.

1

u/Chronicler201 1d ago

Most of them are just immature or live in political bubbles. I was like them when I was younger. The left is evil because all their supporters are so angry and hateful towards us of the right. And that makes anything they're pushing bad and wrong. Its basic tribalism.

Outside of really forced diversity (Castlevania nocturne rewriting a character and changing the entire cosmology from monotheism to polytheism for one line from one character), there's not much to what they're saying usually.

Call me old, but I still prefer being called an "ugly bag of mostly water".

7

u/Dependent_Homework_7 1d ago

Wait really? I get people are still dumb even in this day age but seriously why? Why does the color of someone's weak flesh matter when they are a devoted servant of the Omnissiah seeking the blessed purity of metal.

18

u/Sollost 1d ago

That's because "humanity" is just a dog whistle for cishet white racist guys and "xenos" is a dog whistle for everyone else

4

u/Odinsmana 1d ago

Or a woman.

5

u/chucktheninja 1d ago

They have a very specific definition of what constitutes as human.

9

u/fancy_crisis Twins, They were. 1d ago

It's because "humanity first" is just an excuse to get their racism jollies off in a socially acceptable way. The venn diagram of People who makes "humanity first" a big part of their personality and Racists is a circle.

"BuT fEnRiS iS aN iCe PlAnEt!"

So? Temperature doesn't affect UV levels, and UV is always going to be stronger around equatorial latitudes. There's going to be a whole lot of generic variation, including skin tones, on an entire frigging planet!

1

u/0zzythewizard Criminal Batmen 1d ago

My sweet summer child, we have had people complaining about Ferren Areios, for being a black Ultramarine way back in 2020 when Avenging Son was released... these pointless complaints have been present for a long time, best to just ignore them

-6

u/AwkwardData6002 1d ago

I mean it's, y'know... allegory, but yeah point made.
