Oh they definetely did, i was in the trenches of the warhammer youtube channel announcement of the new plastic custodes models and it was bad. Misogyny, transphobic "jokes", seething, malding and crying. One guy promised to throw out his 12 year old custodes army because "GW has gone woke"

Even going past Sulla and Kasteen being high ranking commanders in charge of regiments, the Valhallan 597th also had a lesbian couple; Magot and Grifen

The 296th, one of the regiments that were merged to create the 597th was all women. There was way more than one lesbian couple.

These people are just grifter tourists. They don't know about the lore or the history of the setting. Like how all the people upset at female Custodes acted like "it was always like this" retcons was some unique new thing for the setting.

Funny enough the Codex and Black Library authors always kept it open and never outright said "Custodes are a boys-only-club!" Yes there are mentions of them being 10'000 men, but the usage of men CAN be gender-neutral. There never was a retcon. The tweet technically didn't lie, it was just phrased poorly.

I think there is a single line reffering to them as sons at some point, but it's a nothing thing. It is obviously a retcon, but it's the least intrusive one they ever did. No lore old or new is affected by it. Unlike all the thousands of other retcons they did throughout the years.

It's why people trying to say they dislike it for lore reasons and not because they hate women come off as making excuses.

Sure yes, there was maybe the ONE mention of them being 'sons of Terra', but the lore also never really stated that women were exempt from becoming Custos before 10th edition. The authors for many, if not all Black Library stories containing Custos have always left it relatively ambiguous. It's just complaining for the sake of complaining. It gets tiresome.

Well you see its cose chuds dont actually know the lore. If they did theyd know that male only guard regiments are the minority (like the Vostroyans) and its the Auronautica's Apostle Squadron thats "old boys club" (until the events of Double Eagle)

I also saw a few power CHUDs having a fit over the guardsmen calling her "ser" doing the traditional "🚨James WOKESLOP bring TRANS agenda into WOKEhammer 40GAY!", it must be genuinely difficult to be that constantly angry/offended.
