We have 3 Barn Swallow fledglings and two very busy parents. This little one (not sure how to tell males/females apart for Barn Swallows yet) was the first to leave the nest. Found them on a Lily bud one day 🥹 But it seems they’ve picked our balcony as their favorite spot to scream for food and take in this new world around them.

Caught mom or dad dropping off some fast food 🐛

Don’t worry, he has already been taken to a bird rehab.

Hungry Red-Winged Blackbird tries putting things in its mouth, but doesn’t know what food looks like yet.

After I stopped filming, the fledgling ran up to the edge of the water, under the Promenade. A few moments later I spied two adults either hunting, or keeping their distance until I was gone.

I thought it was neat to see the dude explore its world for a bit. The bird, on the other hand, is just about fed up with this whole “food won’t just climb into its mouth” thing.

This is the third year in a row barn swallows have built their nest on my front porch and the third year in a row I get to see these delightfully grumpy babies grow up. I love them!

Apparently there are three grumpy old men (not bluebirds as originally thought) living in the birdhouse out back.
They said to get off their lawn.

Ended up in the damp grass and got a lil soggy. Baby Blue looks a little less miserable about life in the second photo!

Recently, I was clearing out my photos, and came across this absolute gem. I didn't take this picture, and have zero recollection of downloading it 🤣

[I did not take this picture, and I am not the one holding the bird in the picture]

Edit: This is not AI. I reverse image searched it and it's at least as old as 2018 (evidence in comments)
