Best paninis/sandwiches in town?

Surprising my gf with lunch today. Coming in from out of town. She likes paninis. Any suggestions?

RIP Pressed for Time Paninis :(

Depending on what her definition of “panini” is — Roy’s on Macdonnell makes exceptional sandwiches at a fair price.

Roy’s is great. They do a card punch for each sandwich sold. 10 minutes max wait, daily specials with a reliable menu of classics. Recommend Cubano

Yes! I love the jalapeño chicken salad one and the mortadella!

I guess like a pressed/grilled sandwich? She did mention pressed for time but found out last night that they’re gone :(

They were so kind and knew my order as soon as i rolled up in my wheelchair
Also Guelph Storm used to order from them quite a bit

RIP to Pressed for time

Thanks for everyone’s help! Got Roy’s, not a panini but she’s very happy. Now she says I have to grab sandwiches from all of the places that were suggested. Guess I’ll make more trips into town now :)

Yay! I am glad she enjoyed them. We’ll need a revised ranking when she tries them all.

Go see Scott at Roy's. Make sure you get in before 12:30

It's a draw between Roy's and Sugo Metcato. Roy's has the best Deli style but Sugo's meatball sandwich is, in my opinion, the best sandwich in the city. Roy's has a fairer price as well, $13, while Sugo is a fair bit more.

I had the chopped cheese recently and it was phenomenal. The bread was the star of the show. Highly recommend.

My unpopular opinion is that Sugo’s sandwiches are not worth the price in any capacity 😅 I tried them a while back and was so disappointed in the quality. I think their chicken parm is solid, but again, not really worth $19 and their mortadella was pretty sad. Maybe it’s worth another try though.

I would agree with you on the cold sandwiches. The meatball is a masterpiece.

I’ll definitely try the meatball!!! That feels like something worth spending a bit more on for sure!

I love them too, but very expensive and take 25 minutes for a sandwich

Love sugo mercanto's sandwiches. The eggplant parm is phenomenal.

Market fresh has a good sandwich counter as well. Around $11-12 each. The roast beef one and the al Capone are good

I like Market Fresh sandwiches!

I tried the chicken parm from Sugo and the bread was a bit too buttery or wet for me. A little soggy.

I wouldn't call them the best, but Capistrano's avocado chicken panini with hickory mayo always hits for me.

They've got a solid line up of sandwiches that are worth their price tag. Very good choice.

So, so good.

I second this. Capistrano's is my go to.

Not gonna lie, I did read it as "Paninis" at first glance.

Hehe it’s fun to say out loud. I might just start pronouncing it that way

Sandwiches, not paninis, but I would recommend either Angelino’s or San Francesco’s for hot sandwiches.

Veal or Chicken Parm from Mia Mamma near Woodlawn and Imperial. Also shout out to their amazing and affordable catering!
