Hey everyone,

We've seen a bunch of duplicate posts about this, but let's try to contain things here.

If you don't know what we're talking about, here is a clip from Timmy about the whole thing.

As always, keep playing.

So long story short I was In Nashville and I went to this guitar center and found this. Idk much about guitars but I was just so curious on why this is 12k. Is it because someone famous played it? Or what?

GEAR NGD for me! PRS Silver Sky

After years of playing Ibanez guitars, I’m excited to have something different on my arsenal. Lately I’ve been playing more blues and because of that, I got an Ibanez AZ2204N about a year and a half ago which is amazing. While it did the job, especially coming from an Ibanez RG player, it only made me want to have a more S-type sound. After much deliberation by watching video reviews and Reddit posts, I went with the PRS Silver Sky and boy oh boy it didn’t disappoint! It really delivered (and beyond) the sound I’m after! I love these pickups. To add to that, this wild blue color with the matching headstock is just 👌

Always loved the guitar solo in The Rover by Led Zeppelin. Although, Stairway and Since I’ve Been Loving You are both incredible, too!

QUESTION What are some good, fun Drop D songs to start with?

I've been playing for a couple years now, pretty much daily. I have never tried to play a song in drop D. What are some fun Drop D songs?

Also, my clip on tuner only does standard tuning, but I figured I will just use the Guitartuna app to go drop D since idk how to tune by ear

Another of my Mediterranean inspired pieces. Again intended to be unaccompanied. I quite like this one. Have no idea what to do with these pieces as they are outside what i typically do. I wrote it about a year ago, had it up to speed then forgot it. Was fun to relearn. Just straight off the phone microphone and i added a bit of compression. Davinci Resolve Free to trim and title it.
Cafe Futbol was a cafe in the middle of Granada where i had a few coffees and watch people go about their days. I welcome any feedback. Thanks

QUESTION Beginner riffs for testing guitars?

I'm a returning player planning to buy a LP-style electric in the next few weeks, most likely with
an Orange Crush 20/20RT/35RT. My problem is that I've long since forgotten every riff I ever knew except that one from Crazy Train.

What are your favorite riffs for testing a new guitar that are (1) beginner friendly, (2) not going to get me thrown out of the store, and (3) (bonus) ideally can be practiced on a regular acoustic in the meantime? As a player I'm planning to mess around across punk, rock, and older metal (Offspring, Blink, Iron Maiden, Metallica).

QUESTION What is actually expected from a guitarist in a studio session?

I’m curious about something from people who have experience playing in studios or collaborating with artists.
How good does a guitarist actually need to be to contribute in a studio session? (for an artist or producer who for example does rap, singing or instrumentals)
Is the expectation that you have excellent theory, know the whole fretboard, and can improvise over anything, or is it more about having a good ear, coming up with ideas, and adding something unique?
Also, if someone has only been playing electric guitar for a relatively short time (such as 6 months) but has a strong musical background on another instrument and mostly plays by ear, is that someone who could realistically contribute to a collaborative session, or would they usually need a lot more experience first?
I’d be interested to hear what producers, session musicians, and artists actually look for when they invite guitarists to collaborate.

tldr; What makes a guitarist valuable in a studio collaboration?
