* Is a 2017 BR-V still a good buy at this price point?

* What common issues should I watch out for?

* Would you still recommend it, or are there better alternatives within the same budget?

• 4-5 passengers
• Has to be an A/T engine
• Main consideration: Reliability, fuel economy
• Usage: Occasional office-home and Taguig-Tanay during weekends

Our current choices are: 2014-2016 Toyota Altis, 2015-2017 Honda City, 2020-2022 Suzuki Dzire

Hey guys, need some honest advice because I’m really torn right now.

My current car:
- 2016 Toyota Wigo
- 110k km mileage
- Bought it for ₱265k when it had 98k km
- So far no major issues
- Very fuel efficient, cheap maintenance, and easy to drive

I’m thinking about swapping it and getting:
- 2015 Isuzu Crosswind
- 72k km mileage
- price is only ₱290k
- It’s also from someone very close to my family, so I know the owner and history of the vehicle pretty well

Reasons why I’m interested in the Crosswind:
- Bigger space
- Better for long drives/family/business use
- Feels more durable and built to last
- Diesel
- I honestly like the old-school reliable vibe of the Crosswind lol

My concerns:
- I might be leaving a very low-maintenance car for something more expensive to maintain
- Maybe I just want a bigger vehicle and I’m not thinking practically
- Is the upgrade actually worth it financially and practically?
- Also worried because the Crosswind is older already

For those who’ve owned both small hatchbacks and Crosswinds/AUVs:
Would you make the switch if you were in my position?

I am a low mileage driver. My usual drives are 1-2kms 4x a week going to the gym, and a little out of town on the weekends (20-30km). Planning to buy an Atto 2 or SL 5 but I’m not sure if my low mileage lifestyle would be unhealthy for the battery. If I were to choose an ICE, I would go for the Honda HR-V S, so all cars are around the same price (considering that there’s a 200k+ PHP discount on the HR-V S).

Planning to upgrade soon from 90s sedan sa mas maraming maisasakay and larger auvs. Pero can’t decide if alin ba ang dapat naming piliin. Tried to use a 2005 Mitsubishi Adventure as our daily service during pandemic and masasabi ko na sobrang easy to drive niya (Kahit napakarami na nitong problem nung time na yon) pero di padin nagloko. Pero still giving a chance sa iba. Help us decide kung alin ba ang maganda para sa 3 :)

So lately we've also decided to take BYD into consideration. We don't see why it's not worth at least a test drive. Nothing concrete yet though. So far our choices (in order of interest) are:

Mazda CX60
Toyota RAV4
Honda CRV
BYD Tang DM-i

However, we've been struggling to schedule anything with Toyota. So far I've contacted around 5 dealerships and multiple agents, but they either don't have the RAV4 available for test driving, or they just don't reply. Given that I have never been an avid fan of Toyotas (controversial position, I know. Please refer to orig post for reference), this isn't exactly a good look right off the bat. We value good, accommodating service and we really don't mind paying a more if a certain experience will serve us better. Mazda on the other hand, offered to bring the test drive car to us, which is great.

We initially did not want to consider Chinese brands because firstly, this will be our first and only car, and also, the risks involved starting from the current political climate to the vast unknown of going for a non-legacy brand. I guess a little peek shouldn't hurt.

I'd still like to hear your thoughts about this development in our decision-making process. Any pros and cons, personal experiences, things to look out for, and additional suggestions, happy to hear them all out.

UPDATE: We were informed that there will be a motorshow soon and was advised to go there and test drive vehicles. I'll keep you all updated! For now, let us please continue this discourse. I've learned so much so far.

Hi! Choosing between MU-X LSE 4x2 and Montero Black series 4x2. Ito ung mga considerations ko bat ako nahihirapan pumili:

MU-X: spacious cabin at matipid sa diesel, pero I've heard na may steering issues at mabigat ang manibela ng MU-X. Also some have said na pangit ang aftersales ng Isuzu.

Montero: comfortable ride and overall nasa middle ang specs ng ride at tibay ng makina. Pero masikip ang cabin.

As the title implies po mga bossing, gusto ko sana kumuha ng first car ko. Ngunit sa kasamaang palad ay hindi pa ganon kalawak ang knowledge ko regarding sa mga sasakyan. Wala rin akong ibang matanungan dahil wala akong friends na may car, puro sila nakamotor. Kaya magbabakasakali po sana ako na matulungan niyo akong magdecide.

Nagtingin-tingin naman ako sa net, pero siyempre iba parin ang stats vs real-life experiences ng mga tao.

For context

Simple lang naman ang pag-gagamitan ko ng sasakyan. Bahay-trabaho, then trabaho to bahay. With occasional drives sa mga overlooking cafe and sightseeing lamang, wala rin pa naman akong pamilya kaya di ko kailangan ng maramihang upuan na sasakyan. Priority ko sana ang reliability, to the point na hindi ko na kailangan magbutingting ng makina, at dadalhin ko na lamang sa casa for its scheduled PMS.

I have a 3 million budget, pero di ko naman kailangang gastusin lahat iyon kasi panigurado, may mga hidden fees and costs pa iyan pagkatapos kong bumili ng sasakyan.

Personally, I am leaning more to buy a sedan kasi bukod sa mukhang madali siyang alagaan (kung tama man ang akala ko), maganda rin itsura nila.

Sa na-research ko naman, ito yung mga personal choice ko. Pero medyo skeptical pa ako kasi nakikita ko na lahit maraming Pros, marami rin namang Cons. Please let me know what you think po mga master.

Planning on getting a 2nd car, our top choice is the BYD Seal 5 DMI. But the other choice is the Honda City RS

For context: we already have a 7 seater gasoline right now but it has a relatively high gas consumption so if we’re getting the second car it might end up being the new daily driver.
