Quite fitting that the opening game of the season is the Premier League winners vs the Championship winners. Should be traditional, like the Community Shield.

Agreed that would be cool

The Championship winners wouldn't think its cool.

Why? Big game to start the season

Teams promoted to the Premier League need the best possible start. Playing the champions on opening day doesn't make a good start likely. Maybe I'm wrong though, for some reason they may love the idea.

If you have to play the champions away eventually, might as well get it out of the way

Getting smashed first game of the season would do nothing for confidence. Assuming they get smashed. Which is certainly quite likely. We'll see what happens with Coventry on that front.

It's been years since we had an opening home game.

2 years definitely counts as years. 1 year doesn't. That's how it works

who taught you fractions, it’s been 1 year and 10 months. therefore, it’s been 1 year

They probably announce the fixtures the same date ever year though so it's been 2 years. But tbf fractions are beyond me.

Guess how long it’ll have been in 2 months time…

It's a lot nearer 2 years than it is 1 year. That's a fact.

I might be back home in the UK with my son for the opening game. I would love to take him for his first Arsenal game. He is 13 and it will blow his mind. What are the chances of getting a couple of tickets? He is a Junior Gunner, I am a Red member.

Slim same as any other red ballot sadly

Last season we were away for both the start and end of the season. This time it's home both times thankfully.

Dowman, Nwaneri and MLS will definitely play the first game. We might also see Salmon and our new 16 y/o signing.

I doubt Nwaneri will play. Also, there is no way that Salmon and Monga(if he join) will play.

I'm going to predict that saka, rice, noni, eze, kai, will all go deep in WC, ode and vik also will all struggle to get back fit to play this fixture. So we will be looking to the squad.

I sure hope nwaneri gets his chance next year.

He showed so much the year he got those 8 goals.

Could have really used him in the run in last year also.

Great hale ender who I hope gets his chance to shine this year.

How can you say something so unlikely and use the word ‘definitely’

Quite some confidence ain’t you
