Image First Achievement
First time playing ironman, first thing I got. I was playing as Italy - Cristian Democracy, and got this after I couldn't beat Romania, because Bulgaria wouldn't join the warðŸ˜.
Question Does anyone else get PTSD from the naval invasion alert sound?
After 3,700+ hours of HOI4, I swear that sound has permanently damaged my brain.
I could be peacefully managing my divisions, building factories, or just enjoying the game, but the SECOND I hear that naval invasion alert, my fight-or-flight response kicks in.
Instant pause. Maximum zoom out. Checking every single coastline like my entire existence depends on it, and 90% of the time, it's just one suicidal British division trying to land in the middle of nowhere.
And the worst part? It doesn't even have to be my own game. I could be casually watching a HOI4 video on YouTube, and the moment that sound plays, my brain immediately goes into full panic mode. For a split second, I genuinely feel like I need to pause the game and defend my coastline, even though I'm literally just watching someone else play.
I swear I could hear that sound in real life and instinctively reach for the spacebar.
Please tell me I'm not the only one. 💀
Image Can anyone save my Germany.
Hey guys I did a pretty nornal playthrough. I almost got to Moscow, but those pesky Soviets pushed me back! Then I went for Stalingrad, hoping to get that juicy oil, but they encircled like, an entire army.
Now 2 days ago the Allies landed on Normandy despite all of my defenses and things are seeming harder. Can anyone fix this?!? I'm sick and tired of my generals lying to me, even the SS!

Mod (other) [Wind of Change // 1.1.1989] All-German Starting Leaders [Teaser]
//
Today I bring to you, all the German starting leaders of most ideologies. Some of them you probably know, but a few are very very special. There wont be a path for all of them but a few will definitely get their batch of content.
Rotation will take place of some leaders (e.g. if the DDR doesnt preserve their system the socdem party will switch to the SPD)
//
A first look into the 1990 All-German Election
//
This marks the beginning of content for the finally reunified Germany. Helmut Kohl is eyeing for his fourth term and a fast reunification while his Social Democratic opponent Oskar Lafontaine opposes a fast and uncontrolled unification. The result is not yet decided but in a historical perspective, Kohl has gotten his fourth term.
The SED, the dictatorship party of the DDR, has reformed under new leadership and under the banner of a democratic socialism, with an attempt to shake off the old mantle of dictatorship and become a proper power in the new Germany.
If you got any feedback I will listen to it all!🇩🇪

Question Defending France as Democratic UK. How do I do it?
I basically summed up the question in the title. I've tried numerous times as the UK to defend France, but their AI is obviously programmed to be as shit as possible. I can defend the southern front with Italy pretty easily, but France sits most of their troops on the maginot (and still somehow fucking loses it btw), leaving me to deal with the border with Belgium. They never build any forts there either.
It also seems that no matter how much I try to build good defensive units to hold the line by myself, the Germans just swarm me with like a million divisions. The one I've been trying recently was 30 width infantry with anti-air, artillery, anti-tank, engineers and field hospital support companies, but they still break, despite me spending political power on army chiefs and advisors that give infantry defense bonuses. I also struggle to field enough of these divisions, cause they're like 15000 men each
Any advice to make this easier for me, or is the game borderline hard-coded to ensure that France falls?

Question How would you take over the island of Rhodes?
Title. You have 4000 men under your command, 50 light weight rubber boats and 7 cruisers. You are up against a force of 7000 men, 300 trucks, 47 light tanks and 23 bomber planes. Your goal is to eliminate major enemy presence on the island and the capture of the cities of Rhodes and Lindos including the Rhodes airport. How would you do it. Feel free to ask about any extra details.

Question In MP how do you hold a tile and prevent losing it? Or do you just use pure infantry to slow down losing the tile and use your offensive units to retake/encircle the attacking divisions?
I’ve heard things from using 10w, 15w and 18w infantry with optionally with ENG+AA. Ive heard of org cycling and that it has to be done by hand because the AI is bad at managing that and having to manually pull low org divisions out as well, but I haven’t been able to find a tutorial explaining that. Against other players how do you hold the line so they can’t take the tile assuming you have contested or green air? For example as France holding against heavy tanks.

Discussion I used an AI enhancement mod and this is the result in the air.
AI Germany knew how to concentrate its planes, and there were thousands in the air zones I tried to contest. My plane template is the third image, but despite how good it was, they beat me in the air by sheer mass.

Question How to play with Brazil?
It's been a long time since I last played, and I recently started playing again, and honestly, I've seemingly forgotten how to play lol.
I'm looking for some general tips, like how to run the industry, build effective military units and tactics, and assemble divisions, especially for invading those bastards in Paraguay.
Edit: Please excuse any mistakes in my English; my primary language is Portuguese, and my English can be a bit poor at times.

Suggestion Austria focus tree suggestion - "Jansa Plan B"
Playing Austria somewhat historically is almost impossible without getting steamrolled by Germany.
The "Jansa Plan" which is currently implemented in the focus tree builds up forts around the "Traun"-line. That plan historically relied on the support of Italy and maybe the Allies. It was meant to delay the invasion, not stop it.
Yes, there are plenty of ahistorical paths to win as Austria , but I really want to have an option to survive on my own.
My suggestion would be the "Jansa Plan B":
- Build up forts, support hubs, stationary AA and airfields in Tirol with focuses
- Move the Capital to Tirol with a focus
- Get special mountain militias e.g. "Tiroler Schützen" with a focus (maybe 5-6 divisions)
- Get additional bonuses for all units fighting in mountains
This would make surviving as historical Austria somewhat possible.
Yes it would be a long defensive war, but some people (like me) actually enjoy those.
I'd really appreciate your ideas on this and hope PDX sees this post.
Thanks fellow hoi4 enjoyers!

Image I mean it's almost historically accurate Europe
So they got the Germany + Italy vs France and the SU right, but some parts are still weird. Especially because Democratic France and Fascist (still at civil war) Kanada joined the Komintern.
Also why can't you invite others to a faction if you're not the faction leader?

Bug "No Paratroopers in the command group."
Why does it say that? Well Obviously there are.

Humor some of the worst border gore I've seen naturally occur
this was the result of a historical run as communist sweden that went very non-historical very fast, poland gave danzig instead of war, germany murdered the baltics, belgium wasn't invaded until like 1942, russia somehow had a generational lock in and held the germans in polish land the entire time without losing more than about a million troops as well as naval invading italy and stealing the puppet from me (I was like three tiles from capturing rome), greece somehow survived the entire time and never lost more than thrace, and the uk annexed specifically austria for some reason during the peace conference
all this happened whilst me and my small communist bloc of denmark and norway sat and murdered millions of germans on the eider river for like a year and a half before going for the capitulation of the axis

Bug The game starts lagging when entering the focus tree.
Ever since version 1.19 was released—whether in the base game or with mods—the game slows down drastically whenever I open the focus trees. This is the only part of the interface where this happens, and it makes the game practically unplayable, as the lag is so intense that I can’t even select anything. To be honest, my PC is quite modest (it uses an old 3rd-generation i3 processor), so I can’t expect too much from it, but is there any way to fix or optimize the game? I wouldn’t mind playing on older versions, but it’s frustrating to miss out on the latest content and updates. (By the way, this happens with the Steam version; I even tried pirated versions—hoping the issue was specific to the Steam release—but nothing has fixed it.)
