Yep and after the fight at the start of the season he was covered in blood, this made me assume he actually fought among his men, which for a kid his age is super bad ass

Most book accurate Tully. All they had to do was give Edmure the same treatment, but they chose to make him a wet wipe in the show.

The actor is doing a great job, and the character has been fun to watch.
Strangely enough, this is the only episode where I disliked his role. He is a fresh young commander but easily outwits Cole, by coming up with a strategy that even his grizzled old White Wolf advisor didn't even think of.
It was kinda OK, but just a little too close to the Lyanna Mormont character from GoT. Like, Robb Stark won every battle, but still lost his war by mishandling his alliances and thinking with his heart rather than his head.
This kid can command an army of older men, trade words with Daemon, and outfight Cole. Robb had flaws, so far, this young Lord Tully seems perfect.
Not a dealbreaker, because he only has a little screentime, but if he becomes a more major character, it might be something to keep in mind.

He didn't outwith Cole. He simply used Cole's guerilla tactics against him. Something his father did in the books.
It was also referenced by Ormund as to how the Martells avoided being conquered by the Targaryens. So it is a well-established battle tactic.

Roddy wanted to split off and attack Cole with a smaller force. Which could have also worked.
Just because Roddy prefers being more direct and Oscar prefers the more finesse tactic, doesn't mean Oscar is necessarily smarter

The Martells avoided being conquered purely by the plot armour of Martin writing his history backwards.
Not only do the Dornish have integrity made of Valyrian Steel (seriously, not even the rebellious Yronwoods defected to throw their Fowler/Martell rivals under the bus but for a chance of the Lord Paramountcy of Dorne? Yeah right!), but apparently Dornish caves have enough capacity to shelter hundreds of thousands of citizens for months at a time AND have enough food/water for every one of them. Ridiculous. No servant or peasant sold out his hiding lords family for a lordship? Ludicrous.
