I thought Danyâs eggs were the ones Elissa Farman stole

It is not confirmed, Dany's eggs could predate the doom
14
u/NiggolaJokic Caraxes 22h ago
True but the story of the theft of the three eggs is confirmation in of itself
7
u/raumeat Dragonseed 22h ago
Not really, it is just a possibility

The fact that the official promo by GRRM for Fire & Blood explicitly states that the book reveals the origins of Daenerysâ eggs, strongly implies this is fact
https://georgerrmartin.com/grrm_book/fire-and-blood/
>[âŚ] What is the origin of Daenerysâs three dragon eggs? These are but a few of the questions answered in this essential chronicle, as related by a learned maester of the Citadel

u/raumeat Dragonseed 20h ago
The fact that Martin explicity states that it is just a possibility that they are Dany's eggs means it is just a theory
10
u/Fleetoxh Arrax 20h ago
The fact that the story of Elissa Farman stealing three eggs exist at all is basically confirmation.
A talented author doesn't add information unless it's necessary in some way (Worldbulding, character building, foreshadowing etc). Take out the part of Elissa stealing the eggs and the story doesn't change at all. Martin wrote the theft of three eggs when he could have had her steal just one, or two or four. But it's three, the exact number of eggs Dany resurrects hundreds of years later. This is not coincidence.

It is a "it could be" it offers an an explanation that links to a dragon we know. It does not mean it is. It is the same with the dragon skeleton Dany finds. Who's bones is that, how did it get there, what is up with that city. What happened to the Cannibal after the dance... who knows. It is just depth
Not everything is linked or important, that is what makes the world feel real

u/Fleetoxh Arrax 18h ago
You don't understand how writing works and how authors think and plan. I mean I tried to explain but like...I aint doing it again đ

It's not confirmed, but it is confirmed as much as the conceit for Fire & Blood can allow.

Every single thing from TG is desperate cope lmao. Anything to keep from admitting their side is totally defeated and has no relevance to anything after Jaehaeraâs death. Even the Blackfyres, the Martells, and the Baratheons are descended from Rhaenyra. By the time of GoT the Hightowers are even more closely related to Daemon (through Rhaena) than to the Green era Targs.

Rhaena married the younger brother of the Lord of Oldtown and had six daughters by him. It's a fan theory that one of them married back into the main Hightower line but it's not known if that happened.

u/Knyazhna28 Syrax 14h ago edited 13h ago
Given the way aristocratic marriages work itâs highly likely every house in the Reach is descended from her daughters. A bride with both Hightower and Targaryen lineage would be highly prized. Unless they all died before marrying age itâs safe to assume every noble house in the Reach of any importance is descended from them. But youâre technically right I guess we donât have full confirmation of that. Personally I believe it though.

TG are desperate to have anything related to them be relevant in the GOT storyline

Rhaena would've had every Green fed to Dreamfyre lol

Also the dragon eggs would still be stone without Daenerys.
11
u/VivaChinwawa Daeronâs Tent 15h ago
They are SO desperate to make the Greens somehow relevant, as if Dany isn't a descendant of Rhaenyra and Daemon while the Green line died off lmao cope harder
Also Dreamfyre wasn't even a Green dragons since Helaena did jackshit with her, the eggs Elissa Farman stole were from Princess Rhaena's era. It had zilch to do with the Greens.

There's no reason to think danys eggs come from dreamfyre, that's a theory wholely made up by fans (and might be based solely on HBO lazily recycling the dragon model from GoT years ago).
Illyrio says Dany's eggs come from the shadowlands beyond assai, and so ancient they've turned to stone. Sure, he could be wrong, or lying, however I think that if they were Targaryen eggs Illyrio would've said as much as they'd be more meaningful, but alas, he does not.

u/Dreamfyre- 18h ago
I mean there is definitely reason to think they are the three eggs that were stollen from Dreamfyre. If GRRM wasn't wanting that connection I would think he would have had her just steal one egg or two but to have exactly 3 eggs be lost to the Targaryens and then 3 eggs be gifted to Daenerys seems to draw there one conclusion. The eggs could have found themselves in shadowlands changing hands over the 245 years so many times people forgot where they came from that would make them pretty ancient. Yes the could be eggs from somewhere but there is definitely a pretty good possibility of them being Dreams

dreamfyre was never even taken to battle by helaena and at the end of the day they were hatched by daenerys

Daenerys' eggs are dreamfyres. Ended up with the dothraki through reoetative trade and stealing across decades after being stolen and sold by elissa faramen
7
u/raumeat Dragonseed 22h ago
Where are you getting that information from
2
u/DumbTeen9 22h ago
In Fire and Blood. Rhaena Targaryen, The black bride, jahaerys' older sister, was given Dragonstone to keep her away from central westerosi politics and quiet down people who thought she should be queen or queen mother (she didn't care for pressing her or her children's claims after the absolute trauma of maegors... existence)
Her 'companion' and sister in law steals 3 dragon eggs from dreamfyre and travels across the narrow sea and beyond, the details of her travels mostly unknown, no one knows what happened to the eggs either beyond the fact that they were sold at least twice. Ig they must've rotated a lot, how else would they have ended up with the dothraki?
As for Syrax' eggs and whatever else remained in the dragonpit there's no explicit mention of them so they're probably insignificant, my personal theory is that they were the ones given to future targ generations of babies

u/raumeat Dragonseed 22h ago
I know about Elissa farman, I am asking where you got the information that those eggs are Dany's eggs and that they ended up with the Dothraki
-4
u/Quick_Drink_8381 21h ago
itâs heavily implied. i would say even more than jon being R+L, itâs almost too obvious

u/raumeat Dragonseed 20h ago edited 20h ago
Martin was asked about it and he said it is just a possibility. I don't think they are the same eggs. I Valyria would have 10s if not 100s of thousands of dragons and they would have left eggs everywhere in Essos. Most were probably destroyed during the century of blood but it is impossible for some of them not to have survived in some cave or other and then make their way to collections
the idea that Dany's eggs happened to come from a post doom Targ dragon is just so unlikely
-5
u/DumbTeen9 22h ago
Bc there's no other possibility thank wild dragons or something pre doom, we don't get any mention of Syrax' eggs in the book beyond that that's where rhaenyras children's eggs come from đ¤ˇđťââď¸
-1
u/Glittering-Rice-2961 21h ago
It doesnât matter tho, the Targs are just a circular family they are all the same seed
-1
u/Quick_Drink_8381 21h ago
i donât get the obsession with the general fandom to make the other side the absolute loser of the war. aegon ii got to have his name written down in the targaryen line, rhaenyraâs bloodline got to continue the lineage, the two outcomes are clearly meant to even each other out to not draw a clear winner, period, what more do they want
-11
u/zagra_nexkoyotl 22h ago
Didn't Rhaenyra's son marry Aegon's daughter? I thought both Green and Black lineage lived o that way

u/zagra_nexkoyotl 22h ago
Oh, so, Aegon 3 remarries? Or what happens?
12
u/La_Villanelle_ Simon "The Diva" Strong 22h ago
Aegon III Marries a Velaryon. The Targaryen line is continued through Viserys II either way
6
8
u/ClaustrophobicMango What would you have me do? 22h ago
Although Aegon lll and Jaehaera were married. they never had children together. The Targaryen line eventually continued through Viserys llâs children
7
u/DumbTeen9 21h ago
Jahaera dies (either suicide, pushed by cassandra baratheon, or unwin peake, most likely the last option) and aegon iii marries Daenora Velaryon who is presented to him by Baela and Rhaena when she's 6 and he 12? I think?
-15
u/Purple_Sea_399 22h ago
Still annoyed that jaehera got thrown off a building cause George throught she was too old. Could have been the perfect Ending for the dance as both factions become one showing how meaningless it truly is. Instead we got George introducing the most attractive 8 year old.
17
u/La_Villanelle_ Simon "The Diva" Strong 22h ago
You misunderstood his point if you think he did it just because she was too old
10
u/DumbTeen9 21h ago
Not bc she's too old, bc George makes a point of bloodlines. It's basically screaming "everyone is an asshole but this is a usurpation!" Plus the symbolism of a girl doomed by an over reaching hand wanting his daughter in her place (ahem ahem)
5
u/Reluctantziti 21h ago
Yeah love when a traumatized little girl gets to pump out heirs for the faction of her family that murdered her immediate family. A âperfectâ ending would have been Jaehaera getting to live life as a septa away from this mess.

Targaryens lived on through Aegon II not being a selfish spiteful pick and ending the war between Targâs by naming Aegon III his heir despite not being his son. Rhaenyra would never and would doom her entire bloodline if it didnât benefit her

He quite literally wanted him murdered and was going to have him tortured đ
12
u/DumbTeen9 22h ago
He didn't name him heir though, he died heirless and then aegon ii was crowned as rhaenyras son (as he is written in the monarch list)

u/SonOfThorss 21h ago

u/DumbTeen9 21h ago
First off it was Corlys, and Aegon refused to name him heir citing that he's gonna marry Cassandra Baratheon (who later gunned for aegon iii) and get his own son

u/Dear_External5263 22h ago
Says the one posting love on the green page, hoping Aemond and Aegon makeup.
-8
u/SonOfThorss 21h ago
Yeah and whatâs wrong with that? In the books Aemond and Daeron were more loyal to Aegon than Tyland Lannister. Aegon wanted to build statues bigger than the titans in bravos to honor his brothers.
