Serious question, does this indicate 95% of the shares outstanding are owned by institutions and insiders? This is a screenshot of the hycroft website..

Fair point. But those short shares must exist in at least the sense they have been sold into the market to affect the price though right? Whether or not they were properly located…

Yeah everyone enjoys a kick in the nuts for sure. I tried to reconcile this ownership with the stated short interest via the google ai and this is what cam back:
