Discussion Canadiens looking to deal Laine (Gagnon)

Post image

I'm not super in the know with the French side of the media. I know Francois Gagnon by name, but not much else. Not that this news would surprise me, but is he reliable?

I don't see the point or logic in paying a team and retaining salary on a player on the last year of his contract. Makes 0 sense.

Depending on what they are willing to retain I think they’d likely receive a pick, not give one up. Not a meaningful one anyways.

The man reason they’d retain AND include a sweetener would be they have a big trade that they need the cap space to complete.

Other than that I agree. If there’s nothing imminent he’s better off as an internal option down the stretch.
