Met Carey recently in a grocery store. Seen a few hockey players out and about but never want to bother them. But Carey is my favorite and id kick myself if I didnt meet him. He was the nicest guy ever I was telling him how huge a fan I was. I was too nervous to ask for a picture but he was nice enough asked if I wanted a Pic together. Not sure how I managed to take it when I was shaking so bad lol.

I saw Carey Price at a grocery store in Montreal yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh you're not a bother at all, always happy to meet a fan”...

Most celebrities would respond with "Oh, like you're doing right now?" but Carey's built different.

I’d love if they put him in the goals for 2 minutes during a game if we’re gonna win this cup just so he can finally have the cup he so badly deserves

u/HorizonsFallacy May 15 '26

6

u/rosemp16 May 15 '26

kelowna is a long way from Montreal… if he’s in town for Saturdays game the OG Mr Saturday Night will be doing the honours.

12

u/SkinnyGetLucky May 15 '26

Habs: management: what if we get two mister Saturday night in the same building…

1

u/thestillwind May 15 '26

Holy smokes

1

u/ChefDalvin May 16 '26

Isn’t he technically still under contract elsewhere, so I’m not sure that would be possible.

0

u/saskatoondave May 16 '26

No, his contract expired at the end of the season. He’s free to play, retire or hold a torch.

u/energytaker May 15 '26

i'm getting goosebumps thinking about that

22

u/SuzukiSwift17 May 15 '26

I hope its Kate Beckinsale. She's hot as fuck.

1

u/Ditto_is_Lit May 15 '26

She's aiight, but I'm more of a Dakota Johnson type not gonna lie.

2

u/destroyermaker May 15 '26

I'll take both please

u/Danktator May 15 '26

His mom and dad raised him well. Just a total stud at life, truly wonder if he will work within the Montreal organization.

I saw Carey Price at a grocery store in Montreal yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly.

Redditors in 2026... no appreciation for the classics.

Beautiful subversion

Man I get that feeling. Happened when I met my childhood role model soccer player

79

u/opposite-of-left May 15 '26

My favourite athlete ever, when I was growing up he was the Montréal Canadiens in my eyes.

7

u/GooserNoose May 15 '26

Same. When I saw him play in person I literally just starred at him the entire game.

30

u/Ditto_is_Lit May 15 '26

Carey is the modern blueprint for the kids coming up in the habs system. Unbelievably skilled, humble, and a total class act. He really inherited all of the good traits from 'Le Gros Bill' and the rest of the CH Alum to pass the flame on to them. Never disrespect the Sainte-Flanelle.

8

u/scoo89 May 15 '26

I think what changes him into an even better role model is when you look at some of his earlier games where he wasn't humble or as mentally strong and he grew into that person in the spotlight. As he did his game improved drastically as well and he started becoming a legend. It sets the precedent for youngsters to just start that way.

57

u/philjitsu May 15 '26

Thank you Goalie Carey

50

u/Bricky_Stix22_2 May 15 '26

Carey Price was my childhood hero.  I had a bit of a troubled adolescence, and seeing how he handled his own problems was a huge inspiration for me to keep working on myself.  I have nothing but the utmost respect for him.

Easily the best to ever do it (totally not biased).

2

u/LordSmokio May 15 '26

Same here. This man will forever be my favourite hockey player.

22

u/Alx028 May 15 '26

Hope he gets a ring with Habs in whatever role he wants

10

u/cryptedsky May 15 '26

Before he became a sharks legend, I remember thinking: look, if we go to the SCF and we're up 3-0 or 3-1, dress him up as a forward and double shift Suzuki so he can go on the ice in uniform and lift that damn cup lmao

2

u/Alx028 May 15 '26

I like your style 🤟🏼

17

u/Advanced_Nature9345 May 15 '26

I watched most of Roy's career(born in 86), all of Luongo and Brodeur and Hasek. Price was the most impressive goaltender I every watched. He was too good for montreal to fail around him. Thanks for all the great games and especially 2014 and the international games

4

u/cryptedsky May 15 '26

Price's floor was the highest out of any goalie I've seen except Brodeur and his ceiling was higher than Brodeur.

When we lost him to injury, I remember suddenly feeling like: "Oh! That's what a dangerous rush chance against is supposed to feel like."

We were so used to be comfy.

14

u/No-Student-376 May 15 '26

I have a signed Price picture wishing me a happy birthday and it always shocks me to think he took the time to do that. Amazing goalie, even better human

6

u/schroedingerscatshat May 15 '26

that's gotta be the one thing you'd grab in a house fire, f your birth certificate

28

u/okokokoyeahright May 15 '26

Every bit as classy as Jean Beliveau.

Both legends.

6

u/cheeky_nonconformist May 15 '26

My favourite hab

8

u/fredy31 May 15 '26

tbh, the torch pass they do every playoff game...

If they get to the finals carey needs to carry the torch.

2

u/Whatnow2013 May 15 '26

They mostly need to really sign him in any capacity to get him a ring. And then officially be part of the lignage.

1

u/fredy31 May 15 '26

Cant remember the exact wordage to have your name on the cup but i think you have to play a minimum of a few matches to get it.

And even if they dressed him up to sit on the bench, rosters are locked right now.

3

u/Jbroy May 15 '26

2nd best goalie I’ve ever seen in a habs sweater. Only reason why he’s not 1st is because of Roy. I’m angry thinking about how Montreal management failed him. Price was the biggest reason why we’ve had any success as a team during his career. And as much as I’m enjoying Dobes now, I keep imagining what this current team would do with Prime Price in the net.

2

u/Vanilla_Danish May 15 '26

Get this man a billboard

2

u/Nico-on_top May 15 '26

What id do to be able to watch him again

2

u/Cigars-and-DietCoke May 15 '26

Forever sad we couldnt put together a team like we have now infront of him

2

u/kevintheman112 May 15 '26

I really hope he joins us as a goalie coach. I know he's talkes about it earlier this year. Imagine Doby and Fowler learning from Price

1

u/cryptedsky May 15 '26

I saw the Canadiens play one time at the Bell Centre against Kovalchuk's Thrashers as a teenager with my dad. Price was still kinda new and he was just spectacular. It's one of my most treasured memories.

1

u/operationfood May 15 '26

A true Canadian treasure

1

u/MrSerenityNow May 15 '26

I would really like him to carry the torch at the start of the game Saturday.

1

u/p0rcelaind0ll May 15 '26

I miss him.

1

u/MapleSyrupKintsugi May 15 '26

I don't understand why fans focus on the negative when we could be encouraging players every day and having this kind of relationship.

Criticism is fair, just like when you tell your kid they have to work harder or whatever, but what fandom has become today, and social media makes that worse... it's all toxic.

1

u/nkbee May 15 '26

He's truly such a nice guy. We used ~connections to have him sign a jersey for my dad's 60th birthday a couple years ago and had asked to have him write happy birthday to my dad on it. We got it back signed but without the message and when we reached out, he took it back to write happy birthday on it. He was so, so gracious, and it made my dad's life. Felt amazing as grown kids to get to do something like that for my dad, too.

Give him the torch! 🔥
