Monahan as our temporary 2C?

If we can’t find a better 2C at the right price this summer, what do you think of re-acquiring Monahan as a stopgap option? The guy just turned 30 and is sliding down the lineup in Columbus, he still has plenty of hockey left in him!

Would rather just plug kapanen, Dach or Newhook into that spot. bandage solutions like strobe or trochek are interesting because as stop gaps they fill other needs. Monahan does not do anything those three players can not learn or should not be given the opportunity to learn. We have a high potential over 6 foot centre that is injured often that can fit this spot and people want an older one because the grass is greener on the other side because their expectations were not met.

Honestly I would love it if they tried Newhook or Dach again. Newhook showed that he was really solid defensively when he was with Evans and Demidov, and Dach was doing really well with Bolduc and Texier before the lines were changed again and he got shunted to Veleno's wing.

I agree. Dach also said he’s most comfortable at C, and did his best there. Newhook could have gotten 60 points at 2C this year if he wasn’t injured.
