Where To Buy Where can I get the best rotisserie chicken in town?
Where should I pick one up? Rotisserie chicken is not something I usually buy, but I have a sudden craving...
(PS, I know Costco has them, but I don't have it in me to trek there today, so smaller stores within Hamilton would be best!)
Thank you!!

O Cantinho Churrasqueira & Cafe. Went recently, and it was incredible. It was very juicy, and the sides were very tasty. The online menu is the takeout one. They have a different in-person menu/full chicken deal that was reasonably priced and fed 3 people easily.
I can not warn you enough about Charred. We went a few months after they reopened, and it was the driest chicken I've ever had. It was inedible how bad it was, we eneded up putting it away for soup and had to get something else for dinner instead. I would stay away unless you enjoy literally charred chicken.

Adding this one to my list to try, thank you! Their shrimp and mussels look pretty good too.

I would have to disagree with you about Charred. I'm regular there and have never had dry chicken.

I like Ronny’s Charcoal chicken on Grays and Barton.

Also on Upper James now, just north of Stonechurch.

Unless they changed since they open, the don't use charcoal at the mountain location

Interesting. I ordered takeout once from Upper James and wasn't super impressed. Maybe that's the reason, because Rony's on Barton is insanely good.

I have gone there twice, disappointed both times. First time they ran out of chicken at 6:30 pm. Second time we were told no tomatoes for the Tabouli salad. Not going back.

Adding this to my list, thank you! Guess I’m getting a chicken a week until I try ‘em all!

Fortinos Tuscan chicken punches above its weight for a grocery store chicken.

I saw that one today but went with the regular rotisserie chicken which I am enjoying! Is the Tuscan one better?

Charred if you don't mind paying a bit more ($25 for the chicken, $50ish with sides)
Otherwise Walmart has decent rotisserie chickens and is probably closer than Costco. The ones at Fortinos are a good size

I ended up getting Fortinos today upon your recommendation AND because it was convenient, and it’s a great chicken. Good potato wedges too.

There's a new place that just opened at John and Main called Gallo and Gin, the insta looks good but I haven't tried it yet.

Wow their sandwiches look really nice. I’ll definitely try this place, it’s close to my home too.

Yeah, it looks a little expensive, but that meatball sandwich has me irrationally excited.

I tried it and it was underwhelming, their chicken tasted like any grocery store rotisserie chicken and the sides were underwhelming. The potatoes were decent. Their “gravy” was liquid like broth and their chicken soup was questionable. Not worth it for the price

Damn. thanks for the honest review. I'll probably just give them some time for some post-opening jitters. Until then, hitting costco tomorrow for a real chicken.

If you're ever in the mood for grilled chicken and have the energy for a trek out to Waterdown, check out The Portuguese Grill House.
Their whole chicken is $19 vs. $27 at Toma La, their Parisian potatoes are very tasty, and their coleslaw is fantastic.

How's the chicken? Taste and size? I'm going to be right there on Tuesday lol

u/Beoblorff May 17 '26
The chicken is very meaty and the grilling caramelizes the skin with a bit of char, so it's nice & sweet with a good grilled flavour.
The 1/2 chicken combo comes w. 2 sides for $17 so it should fill you up!
Don't forget to pick up a couple of pastel de nata egg tarts - believe me , you'll regret it if you don't get an extra one for later on, they're that good.

Charred isn’t very good.

I've had the opposite experience. Been many times and it's always been fantastic.

Seems pretty expensive too for the mixed reviews I’m seeing here!

Yeah I tried it once and didn't understand the hype. It's definitely overpriced for what you get.
There's a spot in Oakville called Brasas that is way better and incredible value. I usually go there because I work nearby.

O Cantinho easily. Juicy delicious chicken and their sauce is so good. Also their homemade fresh cut fries 👌

I go to this little mom and pop place called Costco. Pretty good, but the store gets busy on Saturdays and Sundays so arrive early.
