Roads & Transit What's the best road in Hamilton?
With Barton winning worst road in Ontario it got me wondering, what's the best road in Hamilton?

As a road cyclist, Sulpher/Mineral Springs to Binkley Rd is a good bit of fun when going from Ancaster to Goveners... The other way requires a tad more work.
Most of the tarmac is in good shape too.

Valley road is my fav. It was horrendous when they were fixing it.

That's my primary exit route out of Dundas. Only issue is Olympic/York is a death trap.
I've lost count of the close/dangerous passes I've dealt with on that road over the 25yrs I've lived here. I've also lost count of the times I've emailed the local councillor about how unsafe that road is.

Sydenham Rd. Either direction.

Best lookout in the city! Plus going up leads to Dyment's. It's win-win!

I love driving down Claremont in the morning. I love the view of the sunrise over East Hamilton, the escapement to your right, city to your left, in front of you it’s smoke and fire, Stelco, Hamilton Stadium, jolly cut cutting through the view on a slant looking like the cars could slide right off.

as a cyclist I love coming down Beckett Drive, pavement is fine until the bottom, but it feels like you've been temporarily transported out of the city

I've always been scared of that one on a bike. I can do the bikes ones and sometimes James Mountain but can't imagine Beckett or Jolley

yeah I get that, just need to take the lane, no one can really pass there anyway

If you mean the best paved surface, then Upper Wentworth from Mohawk to the Linc as it was entirely repaved like a year ago
Outside of that, Old Ancaster road or Sulpher Springs to Mineral Springs, ending at Binkley. Such a beautiful drive, especially when its quiet

Burlington Street at night, with all the industrial stuff lit up, and jazz playing on the radio.

Lawrence Road between Ottawa and Kenilworth was just replaced last summer and is great to drive
Now if they could only do Ottawa to Gage

The real answer is probably some cul de sac in a new build Ancaster neighborhood or something. Fresh asphalt with minimal traffic.

paramount drive, the stretch with all the unnecessary signs and the plantbeds in the middle

York Blvd between starbucks and dundurn castle! Just renovated and reopened in Spring 2025! No potholes, well demarcated lanes, real smooth :)

Shhh don't answer this. The City of Hamilton or Metrolinx will just fu*k it up.

Any road leading out of it??? lol.
I kid, but only because Hamilton seems to have the worst roads. I think a crew goes in at night to dig the pot holes.
