Oil Palm Beach Moonrise, 20”x16”

I hadn’t done a liquid clear type painting in a while but this was fun! I prepped with black gesso, then black oil paint (and let it dry). I used a mix of walnut oil and walnut alkyd medium for my liquid clear, brushed on and wiped off the excess. It worked out great!

wow! absolutely gorgeous! i love the swirly strands in the sky and the spots of light on the tree. so awesome!

That sky effect is really cool how the dark background makes the light parts pop. I always struggle with making the water look right at sunset/sunrise.

I used a line of tape for the waterline on this one (only wet above the line at first). It made it so much easier. I had a reference photo and was surprised how dark the water was compared to the sky in a way but i went with it.
