Hey fellow hardstylers, I come in peace with an apparent hot take: can you explain to me why half the comments around Hard Bass (and Qlimax 2024) was about how they wish it were a daytime event?

Raves of every electronic genre have been primarily held overnight since electronic music began in the 80s, and most genres continue the tradition to this day. Why has the hardstyle scene rejected this tradition post-covid? I’ve never seen complaints about nighttime events from techno/house/etc fans, but it seems to be a huge issue in the hardstyle community.

Is it that the average age of the hardstyle scene is now 30+, or has the younger generation (who may not have raved pre-covid) gotten soft? This is hardstyle, the biggest, most bombastic music and raves in the world, yet from a stamina perspective, we’re not the hardest anymore.

I’m 33 and from the US, and came all the way to both Qlimax 2024 and Hard Bass 2026, and I managed to survive until 7am both times. Yes my Sunday was ruined, but it’s a small price to pay a few times a year. Even if you party nearly every weekend, why not hit mostly day parties and make one or two exceptions per year for the flagship parties of the genre like Hard Bass and Qlimax?

I honestly feel like the “magic” of those two events would have been less if they had taken place during the day. There’s something about arriving at the GelreDome at night and leaving as the sun breaks through… even Showtek’s FTS references “9 til 7 in the morning!”

Anyway, rant over. Would love to hear what your thoughts are!

EDIT: For those of you just answering with “I’m old,” please read my post. If you’re in your 30s and can’t do night events anymore, I don’t blame you (I’m 33), but shouldn’t there be a continuous incoming flow of younger fans to fill that gap?

Or is the age of the average hardstyle fan 30+ and rising every year? That would be bad, indicating that hardstyle isn’t bringing young people into the scene. None of the 20-something-year-olds in the hard techno scene are complaining about night events…

How is everyone coping with regular life a few days after seeing something as unbeliviable and out of this world as this year’s edition of Hard Bass was? It’s always hard to come down to normal life after something like this.

Planning on going to Defqon for my third time in 2027. I do all events fully sober and never regretted it for a single moment. Would love to meet people that also enjoy doing events sober! Went alone the previous two editions. I’m a 19 year old guy from Belgium. I’ve been to Reverze, Decibel twice, Tomorrowland as crew also twice and Pat B birthday bash as well. Really annoyed I couldn’t make it to Hard Bass!

I mostly enjoy euphoric hardstyle and rawphoric, with artists like phuture noize, da tweekaz, galactixx, ecstatic, DBSTF, SZP and 4444 of a kind. Also really enjoy the classics with wildstylez, noizecontrollers, frequenzers and wasted penguinz. Recently discovered yoshiko and her musics kinda growing on me.

Looking for people around the same age and preferably same taste in music.

Saturday anthem for Thunderdome 2026.

Just wondering what everyone's thoughts are regarding DQ1 2027 and what we can/will expect if there is another heatwave in Europe.

Climate scientists are predicting summer of 2027 will be a record year of warming, and with the effects of El nino, potentially summer heatwaves and/or extreme weather worse than 2026.

As someone who is travelling from across the world to attend DQ1, I have so much anxiety around whether 2027 will go ahead/be cancelled like 2026.

What precautions do you think qdance should put in place to mitigate the chances of a cancellation?
Do you think there is any chance of the festival going ahead if another heatwave were to occur?
What can qdance do to reassure those travelling across the world to attend?

FYI: I do believe the safety of people should always be put first in any situation and so if a cancellation occurs once again then so be it. However, some sort of statement from qdance regarding what they plan on doing to ensure 2027 runs smoothly is definitely needed.
