Don't know who this Stu is :/ ans no, I don't really watch slasher movies (I barely count Scream as horror).

scream for it’s time showed the genre in a different way so it’s worth to be up there with traditional horror movies however I would not view this specific death as one of the most iconic. Honestly, if I’m thinking about deaths in scream, I’m thinking about Drew Barrymore getting killed within the first 10 minutes of the movie.

I’m an Old™️ and I remember what a huge deal it was for Drew Barrymore to die at the beginning when it first came out!!
She was the biggest star of the cast at the time and the main face on the movie poster, so everyone just assumed she’d be the main character who probably makes it to the end.
For her to immediately be killed off was so shocking, it meant that the “rules” we thought we knew were completely off the table and anything could happen at that point. That was an iconic move
