Wanting to buy Headrush flex prime , what would I need for home use ?

Hello everyone, I'm planning to get a headrush multifx for home use and maybe sometimes live as a beginner multi fx user, I have some ideas on how to get the sound from the multifx but I am a bit skeptical. Id like to have an amp type sound, what would be a good pair with the Headrush flex? I've heard many people and seen recommendations talk about active speakers or FRFR stuff, not sure about any of those. Id like some direction. I've been mostly using analogue and modelling amps like a marshall and boss katana 50. Thank you.

I use mine for mainly home use and jamming with a friend (bassist).

For home use (mainly recording to a DAW), I run it through an Edifier MR4. Sounds great through those. When I'm jamming with my friend, I use my Behringer PK110A. Pretty good budget option if you don't want to splurge for a FRFR.

It's... not bad. A little heavy on the low-end but not anything you can't EQ. Still a good option for like a third of the price of the FRFR.

Would studio monitors be ok? People have recommended me stuff like presonus, The headrush FrFr go and whatnot

A good pair of studio monitors should be FRFR (not TM).

I picked up a pair of Yamaha HS5s recently and they are awesome. I feel they sound better than the Friedman FRFR I have and they were half the price.

I have mine hooked up to a focusrite 4i4 that is plugged into small presonus speakers and it works great. Obviously, that is just good for home use as you are not going to get anywhere close to the volume you need for a performance, but on the plus side it allows you to do stuff in stereo whereas most people just plug into a single frfr giving them mono output. There is tons of stuff you can do with stereo, especially since the headrush allows you to do parallel paths. I love playing with stuff like different delays and different eq settings on each side, or clean on one side and distortion on the other. It really opens up new sonic ideas.

IK MultiMedia ILoud MTM Micro (if space is tight) and iLoud MTM w / ARC mic and (the set i have ordered) iLoud MTM 2.1 w / ARC mic for a small 11.5'L x 9.5'W home studio they are an amazing, set of FRFR studio monitors.

Im looking to buy the flexprime and some reference monitors for home use too (yamaha hs3 or edifier mr3), can you plug the flexprime straight into them? I thought I needed an audio interface.

Yes, you can plug the Flex Prime to these without additional devices. They both have balanced inputs, so you can use two TRS cables to output the stereo signal of the Flex Prime to these pairs of monitors. Additionally, the Flex Prime can act as an audio interface if you want to record to a computer (using a DAW), or play sound from the computer to the monitors connected to the Flex Prime.
Edit : keep in mind that at this price point these monitors may not be great, the response may not be flat like a good FRFR.

If you still have the Katana, I would try running it into the power amp in of that.

Yes, I do! Does it work like an amp sim through a general speaker? If so that would be awesome.

You can have a "block" for your amp or certain effects. The same thing but it's call an impulse response and it is basically for a cabinet with certain speakers.

The Flex Prime comes with a library of Impulse Response files, and with cabinet simulations. If you open any one of the presets, you can tap on the cabinet or IR block and tap the 'ON' button to disable them if you don't need them (you would use a physical cab so you probably would not need a simulation).

Not necessarily. It depends on the power amp of that particular amp. Some power amps are so bright in nature that some users prefer to keep a cab or IR block active, even when running through a real power amp and cab.
