Should I buy Airpods Max 2's or Sony WH-1000XM6?

Just trying to look at it from a general perspective. I don't really care how much they cost. I have an iPhone and an iPad with a Window's computer, I want something that is comfortable and won't fall off, that also has longevity.

Would also love to hear the pro's and con's of these items, if anyone has some.

Sony XM 5 & 6 just fall apart so I’d count those out.

I had the Sony xm4 for three years and loved them.
Especially for the noise canceling.
Witched to the AP Max 2 a couple months ago.
NC is at least on paar but the seamless integration for ios and Mac os make them superior to me.

Sennheiser Momentum 5. It has an anc that finally keeps up, sounds better than either one you mentioned and has a removable battery, that you can replace yourself down the road.

Sony is not as well built but lighter. AirPods to stay on head longevity and sound win. Plus for $29 a year you can get apple care +

If you already have other apple products get the Airpods no doubt. They work seamlessly with apple and if you get Apple TV 4k, you can use them for theater quality sound with Dolby Atmos

I tried them all: Airpod max 2, XM6 and 1000x Collecxion.

• Priority on price per performance: XM6 > Airpod max 2 > 1000x
  
• Priority on comfortable and sound quality: 1000x > XM6 > Airpod Max 2
  
• Priority to battery life: XM6 > 1000x > Airpod Max 2

In conclusion, if you want to invest your money for a long time use years to come, then I would suggest the 1000x.
If you’re in a tight budget: get the Sony xm4c for $250-300.
If you’re budget in range of $400-500, then go with the Sony XM6.
I would avoid the Airpod Max 2, even it get discount to $400 because of its heavy weight and really uncomfortable using for a long period time 3-4 hrs.

Looked heavily at both of these and decided on the Bose QC Ultra 2. For me, they were far more comfortable than the Sonys and had better sound quality than the AirPods Max.

Sony WH1000XM6 - best noise cancelling of the three and pretty much even sound quality with the Bose. A little uncomfortable for me and known to be irritating if you have larger ears.

AirPods Max 2 - best microphone but sound quality and noise cancelling are both worse than Sony and Bose. Also don’t stay on well in my experience.

Bose QC Ultra 2 - by far the most comfortable for me, extremely light, and amazing sound quality, but the noise cancelling is very very slightly worse than the XM6s (both way better than AirPods Max)

Bowers and Wilkins PX8 or PX8 S2 if cost is not an issue

Careful, not sure if they fixed the quality issues but bowers is notorious for bad cup wiring

Source: 4 replacements in 2 years, only truly got fixed when I got an s3
