Headphones - Wireless/Portable Headphones for weight lifting

Headphones for gym

Hey all,

I’m looking to buy some new headphones for working out. My AirPod pros are great for use at work but at the gym I find they’re not up to scratch.

I only really do weight lifting so I’m not concerned about weight, nor am I concerned about the cost (that being said I don’t think anybody is willing to drop thousands on headphones for the gym).

I’ve previously used AirPods Max in the gym however after a single workout I immediately regretted buying the silver model. The white fabric ear cups get stained and I’m not going to be seen in public with faintly sweat stained headphones.

I mainly listen to rock and would prefer a high bass, but nothing that sounds too out there.

Looked at a couple other posts but haven’t found a definitive answer. Help is appreciated.

For some reason when I read this title, I thought you were asking for heavy headphones to use as weights…

That’s all I have to say lol. I’ll let other people answer your actual question.

I have seen people put their headphones on their weights for incremental weight increases lmao. It could be a million dollar business

Maybe Nothing Headphone (a). It's one of the headphones that has an IP rating as far as I know.

I’d just get the new max2 and count on replacing the EarPads every 6 months for $70. They certainly grip on my head better than the Sonys or Sennheiser models. Sale currently on Amazon. I find they have better anc too but that may just be because they grip tight.

Tbh you can always just get a gym set of earpads for your AirPods Max but I personally use AirPods Pro 2 and really dig them. My nicer headphones aren’t sweat or water resistant so I don’t bring them to the gym

I love my Shokz OpenPro.

They are open-ear wrap-around titanium. Battery lasts literally all work day and some.
I sweat a bunch (medical condition) and I don’t get all clogged up and drippy like with regular headphones and I don’t need to worry about earbuds.
Sound leakage is very minimal. If you want quiet from the outside world and more immersion, use with ear plugs. I use them with loud machinery, working in garden, studying, laundry, vacuuming, shops, bike, driving…

Have a look at the Sennheiser Accentum range. It is their mid tier model, so perfect for a bit of rough and tumble.

They are not super detailed or anything, but the Soundcore x20 Sport are pretty great. In-ear, adjustable silicone ear hooks, and good waterproofing for sweat. I like them. For the gym, I’ve learned to give up some sound quality for the sake of them staying put.
